The SX4 and the Ritz/splash were joint efforts by GM(suzuki is partly owned by GM) and Fiat.

These are not look alike s but exactly the same cars on the same platforms.

p.s Aby please post the link to the pictures that you have used-most of all web content are copyrighted and as a policy CW does demand the same, further such images/post/thread shall be deleted-hope you understand the concern.

Sure i will keep that in consideration for future purposes...

So that clears the picture!!!

But isnt it strange that suzuki is making most out of it !!!

Perhaps we dont know the hidden reality...

More symbiotic relationships here in the Auto World rather than one of competition!!!

Hi Aby,

It might seem odd to see this, but in Indian condition only.. In international level its not a new thing. Most of the manufacturers hold stake in different companies.. On that basis they might produce vehicle for each other..

As per the info that i got, Suzuki produces both these vehicles for Opel & Fiat, and u missed one more brand.. U mite see our A-star as Nissan Pixo.. Coz MSIL is producing A-star here in India for Nissan as Pixo..

These Indian vehicles we have seen, but the fact is there might be more vehicles in International scenerio which will be same.. May be in coming yrs we may see these trends in Indian market also..

One good example is Fiat Grand Punto & Abarth Punto...

The abrath is nothing but a tuning effort by a specialist company(like the AMG mercs and Alpina BMW's)

The 'hidden agenda' is nothing but broad product range with a streamlined assembly operation, ie a single company will make different models on the same platform and the same would be re badged and sold, thus putting a cap on the tooling costs.

Thanks Binoy for your update couldnt have felt better without me doing a research on the same...

And here it is...

Joint Development [Contains the content link]

The all-new SX4 was created as a result of a joint development agreement between Suzuki and Fiat Auto S.p.A. (Fiat) signed in April, 2003.

Suzuki took the initiative for the project management from concept to mass production.

Magyar Suzuki will produce 60,000 units of this all-new SUV annually, 40,000 for Suzuki’s European market and 20,000 for Fiat.A Compact Crossover

Under the concept of “X-over revolution”, SX4 has the DNA of Suzuki’s compact cars exemplified by the new Swift and draws on Suzuki’s experience of producing lightweight SUVs such as the Grand Vitara.

“X-over design” refers to the practicality of an SUV crossed with the appearance of a passenger car. The SX4 has two variants. The “Urban Line” emphasises the passenger car characteristics with fewer SUV design elements whilst the “Outdoor Line” is distinctly more of an SUV in appearance.

A relief after i found the truth, else was really moved by the facts...

Some additional info

The Fiat Sedici is a mini sport utility vehicle co-developed by Fiat and Suzuki mainly for the European market. It was introduced at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show, and is built at the Magyar Suzuki plant in Hungary. The expected production volume is 60,000 units per year, 1/3 to be sold by Fiat and 2/3 by Suzuki, badged as the SX4

In spring 2009, the Sedici is subjected to a more substantial upgrade: change the front grille, similar to that of Bravo, and even the new bumper. For inside it got a more sophisticated instrumentation, new fabrics, the air conditioning vents changed and it got new Euro 5 power plants. The 1.9 Multijet was replaced by the more modern 2.0 Multijet 135 PS (99 kW; 133 hp), also the petrol 1.6 was upgraded now to have 120 PS (88 kW; 118 hp), with lower consumption.

But sx4 remains the same
