Hi,

I have booked a RITZ Lxi and would get the delivery by the 17th of this month and have some queries regarding the purchase of accessories for this car. My budget for the same is around 25 to 30 k. What necessary accessories should I opt for in this budget. Also is it mandatory to purchase all accessories at the Dealer as the dealer suggests that buying accessories from outside will void the OEM warranty. The problem buying all accessories at the Maruti Dealership is that all accessories at the Maruti dealership cost 2 to 5k more than any Car Accessory showroom.

Q> Is it true that only the Dealer uses Socket to socket connection as provided by OEM? The dealer says that the Car Accessory shop would have to cut and modify the wiring on the car thereby voiding warranty. If so what part of the warranty not be covered.

Also suggest in this tight budget what accessories are worth spending and what should be avoided. Are there some accessories which I should demand from the dealer?

Kindly suggest.

Thanks and regards,

Swapnil

It is NOT mandatory. Unless you get a great deal (free is good), you can buy accessories from anyway. Most of the time dealers are themselves selling you after market (& non-OEM) accessories, which may or may not be recommended by OEM. So the warranty part is very much a subjective judgment on the dealer’s part. As you have alraedy mentioned, there is a big markup in price by the dealer on accessories and he will use anything he can too see if he can sell you some of these to boost his profit.

Hi Swapnil,

Welcome to Carwale and congrats on your booking

well... the answer is Yes to the question. Usually, dealers uses socket-to-socket connections, but the outside installers also use the connectors, sometimes you may just need to tell the guy (to be on safer side). The warranty would void only if any wiring cut down during installation of any electrical/electronic equipment (such as Music system, keyless, parking sensors etc.).. In case of tyre upgrade, you should use the recommended size so the warranty will not void.
