I am planning to buy my first car withing next 1-2 weeks. I am confused between Spark LS and i10 Era. I am more concerned about mileage. Since there are so may posts on mileage of Spark in this thread, will you people guide me about whether I should go for Spark or i10?

Mr Tokas spark has all excellent features and reasonable price except  one drawback of poor mileage of about 10kmpl as per my first experience, but one of my friend who has i10 is also getting mileage less then 10 with new car,if you are only concerned about mileage then go for alto only which gives you mileage over 15kmpl as it has engine of 800cc but with ac on it runs like bullock cart, otherwise every car from santro,i10  to maruti of 1000cc will give you mileage of just over 10kmpl in city conditions and now its up to you to decide only and dont believe for fancy ads of car companies

I differ here slightly for the Maruti KB series engine stable...Ritz,Swift,A-star and many more to come...

They give you 14 as the lowest mileage...

Upper limit is anything between 16-18 depending upon the drive way and driving habits...

You can add my SX4 in the list you mentioned though...LOLs

Cool

14kmpl 'lowest mileage' in the city with AC from the K series engines?

Know 4 different users on the said engine and none report FE more than 13kmpl(not the lowest but the best that they could achieve) in the city with 100% AC.

On the highway drives they report 16-18kmpl.

Hi Binoy,nice hearing from you...

Sorry Binoy but i havent come across anyone complaining about mileage being 12 or in those figures...

People going for that engine because of good fuel economy, and in that case just like the Spark where people had the same expectations, they complained about it on this forum itself...

Yes in very few cases the way you drive is what matters the most[owing to driving practices]

But here i quote on the basis of couple of friends with A-stars,Ritz and the swift...

[7 firends,2 with swifts newer version,Ritz[zxi,vxi,vxi] and A-star[lxi,vxi]

None complained about the mileage to be as low as 13kmpl,[and certainly not 13 after maximum efforts]

I would love to know more on the same if people having the vehicles with KB series engines come up and have their views...

Afterall general consensus is what matters to me the most...and the personal hand to hand experience...

Thanks for sharing your esteemed views on the same...

Rohit I am glad to see your views on this forum as first time i got a person who has same problem like me from hill city of Mandi coincidentally i am also from kangraHP now settled in new dehi,i want to know one thing that first service you mentioned is 30 days reassurance after date of purchase or first service after 6 months from date of purchase  30 august,as i am very worried to see the mileage of 10kmpl at present and this car is looking like a white elephant to me at present in mileage otherwise no doubt car is excelent in all other fields over all other cars in this segment and i pray to god that like you it will also give me mileage of about 15kmpl after first service which is due on feb 09 till then i can bear this white elephant happily, keep on sending your comments.

No car is a white elephant, just needs little more change in driving practices if the car has given up...LOLs

Like in my case,i simply couldn change my driving style, everytime i tried somebody banged my car from left right or rear...LOLs

SO i finally moved in to CNG...

Somethings are not just in our hands...

Happy motoring...
