I am planning to buy a Swift in a couple of months. I heard that they were upgrading the engine to the new K-Series one. This was required for the new Bharat IV norms from April next year.

Could anyone let me know if this rumour is true? And by what time will this change happen.

Hey Ameya

welcome to carwale..

Nice choice buddy...I am also planning for swift soon..

Yes it is true that swift will be launched in New Avtar ..

from 1398CC it will come down to 1200CC..

One of my friend in Maruti has told me that it is happening any time in Feb2010..

Really ? I have heard rumours regarding the same, but nothing out for the press yet, i guess.

Though it would be a smart move. Its a new Engine , less noisy and more fuel efficient. The Ritz is already powered by the K series Engine.

Cheers !

Well thats a nice shot. But on reading through the Link, i personally feel it might still be FAr away.

October 2010 at the Paris Motor Show. So India would be far away from that too.

Also, its written that the New Swift would be similar to the 5th generation Swift. India never got any other generation, so maybe we'll just have to wait and watch.

Cheers

well really !!! Small cars everywhere.

Earlier this year how many cars in the 1.2 segment did we know ? And now, how many can we "count" ? This segment has certainly been the hottest. So even If there's a new Swift, i think the so new -I-20, Jazz, Punto, and even the Ritz wil start frowning !!!

Well its funny but its kinda true.

Delhi adds about a thousand cars every day or something. That was the average sometime back. So at that rate, --haha We are going OT.

Okay i had a question in mind. Is the KB 12 series engine cheaper to make ? cheaper than the Old 1.3 Engine ? if not, then why would Maruti do it ? its Esteems old engine and a very VERY successful one.

Maruti wont be selling a car without calculating every penny they could possibly save... They just ruin the overall image of suzuki...
