If you are going in for <32 incher, do not bother to go "FULL HD". the Enhanced density resolution of 1366x768 is more than enough, as you won't be able to make out individual pixels from normal viewing distances (the angle each pixel subtends on the retina is less than the eye can resolve, so what is the point in having a multi-million pixel resolution?)
Compare TVs using all set of inputs side by side and then decide - some TVs may process Normal tuner signals better while some may excel in HD content display. Choose your set as per the heaviest use anticipated.
Do not get into a knot about the astronomical contrast ratio - 10 k would suit just fine.
If considering 60" or higher, it would be much cheaper to buy a projector - there, go for DLP, instead of LCD. There are LED projectors on the market, but they are yet to come to mainstream status.
Slightly OT: If you are a movie buff, it would be a nice idea to invest in a media PC - a high end PC with internet connection, huge (~500 GB) HDD to archive movies collection, a good sound card with optical/electrical digital output, a great graphics card with HDMI output and a combination optical disk drive, so that your player setup does not get obsolete. Moreover, how awesome it would be to play 3D games on a wall-size projected image!
