@Karan: He said the 1.9 TDI is being developed by Suzuki. I don't want to believe him. But 1.9 TDI engine is quite a possibility for the SX4.

1.9 TDI...not a possibility [for suzuki to have developed, manufactured in india] without actually giving any confirmation on the same in the past...

Remember the KB series engine that they developed ,actualy they had a press confirmation done before they started off  to producing those beauties...

The only thing that surprises me is that Maruti has quite succesfully kept the media and press leak out of the bay...

Estilo was the first car out of the stable that they manage to keep out of unwanted attention, now its the SX4...No wonder their planning and management has changed in recent times...

i am stil not really convinced. I don't know why. But a 1.9 TDi still feels unbelievable by Suzuki as of now. Yes they should not be under-estimated. But til the time it doesnt come out in the press , i think it would be over-estimation !

Also that would mean Sx4 would be in in two different segments. The 1.5-1.6 Segment PEtrol. And Diesel would be placed with the Octavia, which is well above the Petrol counterparts.

I do agree with you,but keeping in mind they want to enter each of the segments with the current succesful cars from their stable, the only way they can do is by doing exactly what you said...1.6 and 1.9 TDI...They have the resources to do the same...

Press dont make much diff though to something as mammoth as

MARUTI-SUZUKI india...It has become unbeatable venture...Something we relate to as one Company ever since we were kids...

I still feel, that possibility would be quite intriguing to have SX4 not just revamped but giving it two segment status...[highly unlikely],but i think sooner or later they will end up doing that...lets just wait and see...

Yes, actually lets just wait and see ( We have no other option actually), since there aren't any press statements.

So Anything can happen.

Eg. The A-Star shown in the Expo and the A-Star that came.

- ALso, Splash became the Ritz India.

-WagonR was supposed to be changed to "WagonR+" since 2008, but it never happened.

True, but the whole idea of starting the thread was to follow up the auto news world over...No car by any manufacturer shown in expos turn out to be the one found on roads... Well RITZ from the time it was speculated to be on road and till date what we see on roads is the same as the ones we saw in spy pics...[four months in advance] The cars very well come in india way before their actual launch and some people always shoot the pics with their mobile... So hoping that someone does, and that we get to see the car before getting launched is what i am anticipating...which is always exciting... Cheverolet[GM] already has the rights for using "splash" for one of its models...thats why when Suzuki planned to launch it in india ,they couldnt use the same name...

IS that the reason why Splash can't be used as Splash in India ? Surprised I never knew this before.
