One of the maruti dealer salesman told me that SX4 is coming with a 1.9 TDI engine being developed by Suzuki. I was really surprised to hear that. He specifically said that its going to be a similar engine what Skoda 1.9 TDI has.

@ db,

Quite possible because Fiat is hesitating in giving 1.6L MJD engine as they want it for their Linea soon to be launched in India. Now if Fiat delays deliveries, Maruti has two choices. 1. Launch 1.9 L engine from Fiat, Which will be way costly than a 1.6 version.

Otherwise they can source the engine from Peugeot which they used to do earlier.

Maruti won't let its sales and promises down for sure.

Could be true because of maybe the following reason:

1) Cost factor attached to 1.6 or 1.9 Fiat CRDI engine.

2) To avoid the delays in delivery as in the case of Dzire diesel cars. Maruti wouldn't and shouldn't make their customers wait for months.

Looking at  these factors there is a possibility for Maruti to go for a TDI engine which would be readily available.

The Auto punters will definitely know better.
