I have a  SX4 ZXI for more than a year and the existing engine is extremely good on power at all speeds and is extremely fuel efficient also. But it does not meet the Euro 4  norms  to be introduced in April next.So just like in the case of Estilo ,Maruti may change the engine to meet new norms but will not increase the power. Also,in my view, they can decide to meet the new norms even with slight modifications to existing engine itself and save huge money on new engine development.

SX4 is losing more numbers to their own newly launched Desire with Diesel engine as both are at same price point.People are  just not aware of far better drive, power, space and drivability of SX4 as it falls in a higher category and Maruti is not bothered as they do not lose a customer who buys Desire D.

I have travelled in a Desire D extensively and there is  a huge difference in handling dynamics and while SX4 is safe on all roads for fast drive,Desire can not be pushed beyond a moderate speed unless the roads are very good.

Sales executives of showrooms are highly un reliable lot. They do not even know about cars they are selling otherwis SX4 would not be facing sales less than Honda City,SX4 is overall a better car if you want to use the car ,City is good only for the garage

You know as I am also looking for buying a new car and so far I have done TD of 19 cars.  SX4 is also among them.  The maruti sales guy is in touch with me for last two months.  He immediately called me and informed what all changes there will be and he has also told me that he will call me when the car will be available for display and TD

Regarding diesel, there is no confirmation about a diesel SX4 from Maruti yet. They were planning for a CNG / LPG variant but nothing confirmed as yet.

There are some talks about Fiat not allowing Maruti to use the 1.6L MJD as they want Linea to come with that engine first but even in Europe, the 1.6 diesel that powers SX4 is not the Fiat multijet but is sourced from Peugeot. The engine has 90ps and 215Nm torque against Fiat's 105bhp from 1.6 FGT and 120 from 1.6 VGT. The only Fiat diesel that Suzuki uses in the SX4 is the 1.9 which has been phased out by Fiat themselves. In all probabality, Fiat may not have any problems with Maruti using that engine here but I am guessing it's getting too costly to have that engine in India. The best bet according to me is to use the 1.3 with VGT. It will give the SX4 decent performance with very good mileage but it will only be a honeymoon for a few months because Fiat and Ford will upgrade their Linea and Fiesta to 1.6 diesel's and knock the socks off SX4 1.3 DDis with their performance and mileage. No wonder Maruti isn't sure how to proceed with the SX4 diesel!

Hi, Got inside info from my close friend who works for Maruti. The new SX4 which will be launched this diwali will be VVT engine 106 PS @ 5500 RPM and 146 NM @ 4200 RPM. The major difference is in the engine technology. Earlier they used M 16 engines and now they will have a variable valve timing engine the technology which in Honda's language is called iVtec .

Major changes in the interiors like high quality plastics and fabric will be noticed. Facelift in the exteriors is also quite noticeable but the price might remain the same.

Suzuki Kizashi, the new car of suzuki to be launched not in 2010 but in 2011 with a price tag of around 13-15L or Rs.

Maruti Suzuki might also delay the release of 1.6 L SX4 Diesel due to late deliveries of the engines from Fiat as the same engine manufactured by Fiat is used in other makes of cars globally as well.

Hmmm nice info vikas...good to hear all that...

Whatever it is...SX4 will uplift the suzukis current market position and clear myths from peoples mind before they actually launch KIZASHI,the ultimate machine from suzuki...

Thanks Dr. Abyshines. I am also looking for KIZASHI. I am a die hard fan of civic, but with the video of kizashi on youtube, i just lost my heart to it. I hope they don't "operate it" much and launch it "as it is" with minor modifications.

Hmmm what attracts me to something is the metamorphosis...We know suzuki of producing affordable cars...but it is slowly changing...its good to see someone grow...and thats what attracts me to suzuki...They still have customers in their minds...they can make huge, costlier cars but they sticking to general public...

Whats the use of so much of RND,when it cannot reach the customers...suzuki is just changing this scenario...
