Hi All,

I am new to the carwale and a first time buyer.

Till yesterday I was about to book an i10 but yesterday I came to know that there is no protection for engine in i10. I am not sure how true is this information. Also my friend has confused me about milage of i10 and its maintainence cost after free services. He has suggested me about swift, ritz or a-star. Now I am totally confused.

CAn you guys please guide me which car will suit my needs.

I am looking for a car with a run of approximately 2000kms of monthly run. I would like to go on long drives including hill stations. I do love speed and would like to take my car to 120 mark sometimes.

Please suggest me which car will suit my problem as fuel economy and power both are my requirements. A power steering and a good ac is my minimum requirement.

I was looking for i10 megna 1.2 with kappa engine.

my budget is on-road 5 but lower is better.

@ rohit,

as per ur usage a diesel car would be the most suitable for u as 2000kms a month is a lot of driving & a diesel car will save u a lot on ur running costs.

in ur budget i would suggest u go for the ritz diesel or the indica vista quadraget. both are good cars which share the same engine.

if u can increase ur budget a bit & want a better car than go & have a look at fiat punto multiget, it is a great car & it would serve u the best as u say u do a lot of highway driving, so u would need a strong & sturdy car which has the best driving dynamics & punto comes first in this place.

just have a look at punto & have a test drive for it & than decide.

u may have to stretch ur budget a bit but it is worth it.

Hi Rohit,

As suggested by Roadster, go for diesel car. Best options are Ritz Diesel or Indica Vista Quadrajet. Regarding Ritz, looks are personal choice (However I never like it) and waiting period is around 2-3 months. So the immediate option is Vista QJD, it's more specious, sturdy & strong. Final decision depends upon you.

TD both cars and decide.

Thanks a lot for your quick reply.

How about swift diesel. Any ideas about the same which one is better ritz or swift as I dont want to buy a taxi (indica).

Also, I have heard that diesel cars dont perform well with AC on and also they face problem in terms on noise.

Ritz & Swift both are good and sharing same engine.

Ritz engine comes with BS4 whereas Swift with BS3.

Test drive both cars.

BS3 is old whereas BS4 engine meets the latest norm compliance (Of Govt.) which will be in force from April 2010.

... as I dont want to buy a taxi (indica).

I think its high time people ackowledge the effort of tata motors and stop considering indica as taxi

Rohit, Indica vista is quite a different car than the old indica is definitely a family car. Just have a TD with family and then decide. I bet you would love this car.

Also, I have heard that diesel cars dont perform well with AC on and also they face problem in terms on noise.

The diesel cars these days are having quite refine diesel engines. They are far better than their ancestors. Yes, they do have a bit louder engine noise than petrol car, but its rarely distinguishable in todays car. Further, with ac even petrol cars dont perform well. There would be drop of approx 1kmpl for any car. Otherwise there should be no problem with these cars.

And as per your usage requirements, i10 should not be considered at all. Its quite a unsafe car at high speeds. Swift Diesel, Indica Vista quadrajet, Ritz diesel are really good options for your requirement. Its highly advisable to take a TD for these cars before deciding on one. Do take your family with you for TDs.

best wishes

My suggestion to you is also a diesel car.  If you will TD Punto MJ, you will not hear a Enginee sound.  Its too good car.

GO for TD
