Dear Siddesh,

I am a little bit surprise that of so many posts no one has really pushed you for SX4. I have it for last 2 years. It gives me more than 12kmpl in city with AC on. it is the most comfortable car aong the ones you have chosen (I am not too sure when compared ot the new city). It is very powerful. Though some members here find it an "apology" of a car, I beg to differ. I am really proud to own one and its a fun to drive even in city. on highways it just takes you to a different level. It oozes confidence even on high speeds (even at 150+ it is very stable and manouverable). Performance on low revs (1000 to 1500, is simply th best)

Now with the new engine it is expected to be even more powerful and fuel efficient. Word is tha tht interiors may also get a tad better. In my opinion the only area where the new city scores over SX4 are the interiors. Having said that you must keep in mind the SX4 zxi, will give you Cimate control, Interated music system, and safety features no one else will provide (Dual airbags and ABS). In terms of features, it is only beaten by the linea but with all due respect to Bala and other die hard fans of Fiat (including the one inside me). I must say SX4 is much more powerful at bothe high and low revs.  add to it the maruti tag, for better and cheeper ASS.

So as a complete package nothing can come close to the SX4. Wait for the new SX4. And then decide.

Would say one thing though; All the 3 cars SX4, Linea and HC are wonderful cars in their own rights and you will definitely relish owning which ever you chose.

Forget Fiesta when you are talking of these 3.

$Himanshu,

There are many omissions here but it basically depends on what the buyer is looking for.

SX4^^basically one gets comfort of Maruti, good GC but bulky shape

HC^^ a very good overall performer but the premium is very high and low GC

Linea^^ loaded with new features and has created sensation in the market but shape not attractive as per me, low GC.

Fiesta^^Loved by who  has to go for self driving,as per me shape not attractive, rear seat less space.

Accent^^Cheap sedan , flat look as per me looks good, but very old 1998 car , low GC, interior simple

Dzire^^comfort of maruti , entry level very comfortable price, but odd look as per me

Aveo^^New car with added features, fabulous interior, bold attractive look and shape,GC of 180mm, gear shifting improved but still not rated high as per me a underated car.

Ikon^^ OK car .

It depends what you are looking for.

I fully support Himanshu here ,I have been driving a SX4 ZXi for more than a year now and it is one utterly happy motoring experience.I find that SX4 is very close to the performance and fuel economy of New Honda City at a much lower cost.

I was driven towards SX4 as NHC is the only other car that is somewhat more refined than SX4 .Now NHC has a very poor ground clearance along with long wheel base and soft suspension causing it to hit ground at speed breakers. Moreover back seat of NHC is meant only for shorties. So I have chosen SX4 and I find this a very powerful car and it is giving F>E> of 14 in city drive (AC ON).What more do you want.

Hi all, thanks for your inputs, i am too looking out for the SX4 being upgraded and interiors worked on a bit, if tht happens definitely in my opinion sx4 shall be my first choice, since i m driving a maruti for last 5 yrs, without any problems, tht brand is undoubtedly my first choice if the product is right. The current SX4 lacks the feel of a 8 Lacs+ Car . Linea is definitely classier but still i am very much concerned about its after sales service & resale value, can someone provide their valuable experiences on fiat cars??

Lot of people are having different opinions on the Resale Value of Fiat products. I would say that the past experience has not been good, though Fiat claims to be improving the ASS which can enhance the resale value. This time, we would just have to wait and watch because i am still not convinced even after repeated assurances from Fiat people and TATA dealers.

Fiat Cars are still relatively new in the market and only time will tell the fate of the product.

The service of Fiat is good and I had visited them twice alreday - once for my first service and once for an accident repair - a minor accident in which some part got damaged.

In both the instances I found the service to be pretty good.  The part that I had to replace was available readily and was fitted within an hour and delivered. To my surprise the cost of the part was also very less compared to any other sedan. The first service was also good and though I had asked for changing the oil at 3000 KMs, he said that as per the Fiat and service manual guidelines, it is sufficient to change oil after 15000 KMs only. However he said he is open to changing if I insist and only will cost me money and he showed me that the color of oil is good and has not changed. Then I decided not to change the oil.

In both the cases, I found the experience very similar to what I had got earlier with maruti or Hyundai.

Yes the service of Fiat was bad during Uno, Palio and Siena days esp when Sundaram Motors was doing and even spare parts you had to wait for weeks ( as I had heard from others). But actually, when I went for my service eventhough Punto was not launched by then, the service manager was saying during my conversation that they had already received the spare parts for Punto.

True, even I had a thought about  whether I should go for Linea when the ASS was not proven. But after considering all the factors - like features, spare parts compared to City, Civic, Altis, SX4, Optra, Innova - I decided to go for Linea and I am very happy with my decision now.

It was not easy to move away from Maruti, Hyundai to Fiat when I bought Linea because both of them are known for their service.  Actually Hyundai sales rep was behind me explaining about Hyndai's service & Fiat's bad service and even offered to enhance the loyalty bonus but I decided for Linea.

Also we need to note that we go for service only at some fixed interval for any car - even that is 15000 KMs or 1 year in case of Linea. The features, riding comfort, power & performance, roadgrip, excellent braking ability of Linea - all these you enjoy every day when we drive the car. So I get a good everyday experince with my car alongwith good service experience

Resale value - I agree, this is something which will get established over a period of time.  When people bought 100 cc bikes several years back everyone said that only bajaj scooters have resale value and not bikes.  Now we know that there is no taker for a bajaj forget resale value.
