Reviving old thread.

There was lot of activity on the web in last 24 hours related to Maruti launching Cervo in 2nd quarter of 2010. But I didn't notice any official announcment from Maruti on this. Not sure why this sudden upsurge of updates on the web.

Google search results for Maruti Cervo on 29th Jan 2010. Link below:

All sorts of speculation, and some wild specs on the blogs that show up in the search results!

rushlane was particularly funny - comparing it to Jazz, then giving it's cubic capaity as 1 liter, 660 cc (sic). Did the copywriters pass their matriculation??

Don't know the authenticity of shape, as it looks suspiciously like any generic B segment hatch.  If the 660 cc 2 L figures are right, the car looks like a nano killer alright. Will also lead to the old trusted m800 being given a quiet burial.

Lets see, as and when it happens.

Well, this one will be their bread for the company for the next decade. The other models together will just contribute to the butter. It is that serious. The rock bottom of the market has the highest volume, and MS is not able to kill 800 even after announcing curtains for it, just because they cannot change the market makeup. If there is a demand somebody has to meet it, and better it be MS or someone is already knocking at the door.

But just think about it.

Base version : Cervo

2nd category choice given : - Alto / A star / Estilo ( when they have only 1 model in international market )

3rd category choice given :- Wagon R / Ritz / (and for some) Swift.

4th category : Only for some Swift.

I mean, comeon, grow up, be a leader like a leader.

I recently noticed this blog written in March 2008 about spy pictures of Maruti Splash in India. But as you would notice from the picture this is not Splash(Ritz) which was launched later in May 2009. This looks like Suzuki cervo, especially the front design and the door handles.

Would this mean that Cervo was being tested since 2008 in India? Or probably Maruti tested initially and the delayed the launch.

I was wondering what you meant by 660cc and 2 liter??
