Hi All,

I have heard that there is some sun film which can be installed on the front windscreen. It helps to cutout the heat which can be felt from the front windscreen while driving or if the car is parked under blazing sun.

Can experts please let me know

a. what it is called and what are the cost / brands in which it is available.

b . Is it really effective as I have read that the cooling of AC improves drastically as heat is cutout.

C. Does it not hinder the vision especially at night. obviously the film might have a very light tinge but still..

Will be looking this for my new Vista TDi.

Please advise.

Your Answers:

a) It is called Sunfilm for windscreen. No special names. There are brands like Garware, 3M, Lumnar, Vkool. Price starts from 2.5-3k and goes upto 15 K for some imported brands

b) It is indeed effective in reducing the amount of heat entering the car from windscreen. And hence increases the effectiveness of AC. However, it may not increase drastically, but almost upto 20% improvement from normal condition does takes place, depending on the type or quality of sunfilm used. There are different films available with 50% reduction, 70% reduction, 90% reducion etc. The higher reduction film you use, the cost increases and so does the effectiveness of AC

c) Go for transparent films, might cost you some 1-2K extra than normal dark films, but this extra money is worth wrt safety, specially in night driving.
