.... discussed quite before (elsewhere/somewhere), we need to work on getting the threads closed/purged automatically when last participation is older than 3/6 months old.

@ Banwari, please see if something can be devised to do the job automatically.  Otherwise, it may not be practically feasible to locate & close/purge all such threads.

Being a S/W engg for a long time ...i believe it is quite easy to automate that ... however, the question is of whih criteria (Category, duration etc) to choose.

Well, i think initially what was thought was okay. Posting on old threads is okay, only if it meaningful , and would benefit others.

Eg. If a person new at carwale, posts something  in a thread which is inactive for 6 months, then it is acceptable because it would only "disturb" others for a reason.

But it should not be done by long time members. Opening a new thread is the easiest and more-so, questions are answered in a more direct , and to the point manner in a new thread.

i remember Pankaj, telling us not to Dig into old threads long time back. Don't remember the page, but clearly remember the logic and reason .
