      I bought the new Ikon last year, among the first cars at Mumbai. Looking at me, a friend of mine also bought one. Never thought it would be so bad.. AC valve has been changed for both cars, twice for one car. Now also hot air suddenly blows in specially in traffic. Its big joke in our group. Both cars have jerky brakes or brakes grab suddenly on application & u get that noise from wheels. Both cars steering is over responsive, one has to be careful. Ford had reduced steering dia. from earlier size, without any other modifications in the steering system. The Mumbai dealer Shaman has closed shop & the nearest dealer is 20kms away from office & 40kms from home :-( As per the dealer they were fedup with the failures & attitude of Ford India. You cannot find any contact number of any Ford Sales or Sevice persons. Emails are not answered back. SO all in all a terrible experience to own a Ford ..NEVER AGAIN WILL I BUY OR SUGGEST ANYONE TO BUY A FORD VEHICLE.NIL, cheap sedanrepeated AC problems, funny noises, bad steering, bad brakes, cheap fittings

      We bought a second hand Ford Ikon 1.6 Exi Nxt(Petrol) 2005 model, Which is the first car for our family. Even though it has crossed 50000 Kms, it performs well on Road. We are 5 members in our family and frequently visit to our village where the roads are potholes. The performance of the car is very good at any given area. The precise steering and eagerness of the engine says 'Drive me more'.

      On the other hand the maintenance is very high. We bought the car in Jul 2011 as second hand. after a year we faced battery failure and Steering locking on drive sometimes. Then we was instructed to go for complete battery and  Key change(Which involves master key, Power Windows wiring, Door lock wiring). Both of them costs Rs.10000. There is a lack of USB drive in the music system(Only CD/DVD and FM is available).

      Of course Enjoyment doesnt comes at ease. We enjoy the ride & Comfort. We live in Trichy District and the Service people (Susee motors ) is not good. So we service the car to local workshop for any repair.

      we are using ford ikon rocam engine from past 4 years but we are not satisfied with the car.the car consumes lots of fuel.not much powerful engine.moreover its dealers at service station wants to change like every part new unless it is required.the spares is very costly and mostly not available by store.service is very very bad for them.they ask a lots of money.no care at service station for car and customer.customer care bad.bad fuel economy nearly 9kmph.interiors-on the verge of average

      We had a tata estate car that I thought was showing its age so we decided to buy a new car. we short listed the following.

      MARUTI BALENO Good car but lacks brand image.

      HYUNDAI ACCENT LOW QUALITY CAR.

      IKON FITS THE BILL NICELY.

      SO WE DECIDED ON FORD IKON.

      WE TOOK A TEST DRIVE AND WERE AMAZED THE CAR DRIVES LIKE A DREAM AND WENT AND SELECTED THE COLOUR. WE SELECTED BOTTLE GREEN AND SAW THE PRICE. IT WAS 5L ONROAD PRICE SO WE BOOKED OUR CAR AND TOOK DELIVERY ON 13TH SEPTEMBER .THE CAR HAS NICE INTERIORS  AND COMFORTABLE DRIVING POSITION. THE SEATS ARE  WELL BOLSTERED AND COMFORTABLE THE CABIN IS SPACIOS AND THE RIDE QUALITY IS GOOD TOO. FOR INDIAN DRIVING THE CAR IS PERFECT THE HANDLING IS SUPERB  THE TIRES HAVE EXCELENT GRIP  AND THE MUSIC SYSTEM   HAS GREAT SOUND  QUALITY. THE ENGINE SETS YOUR PULSE RACING AND GEAR SHIFTS ARE SMOOTH AS WELL. THE CAR HAS A FIVE SPEEED  MANUAL TRAANSMISSION.

      THE ENGINE IS A 1.3 CC  4 CYLINDER ENDURA ENNGINE WHICH PRODUCES 75 BHP OF POWER

      IT IS THE BEST ALL ROUNDER THAT HAS EVER BEEN MADE

      Hi guys, I bought a second hand FORD IKON 1.6 ZXi  2004 model in June 2007. When I bought the car it was showing 68000KMS. I’ve traveled in it for around 10000 KMS till date. Here are my genuine reviews about the car, the performance and above all the reviews about the dealer.

      “Dream Machine” are the two words that I can say for IKON as a car. Although this car is not effective in terms of average, however, if you are concerned about the speed and the power then it’s the best. Even at 150 KM/Hr it runs as if you are driving a Maruti Zen at 80. If we take average aside, I would rate this car 3.5 out of 5.       

      I would not recommend South City Ford in New Delhi at all to any FORD owners to go there and have their car services. They are having the worst services which I’ve seen till date. I would not rate even .5 out 5 to South City Ford. I wish somebody can tell them about this.

      Machine with brain programmed to obey its master - " always under control.. no matter how bad the roads are and at what speed you are going" Hi All., I am an Ikon 1.6 ZXI owner.. and i am proud to be known as an ikon woner.. This is my first car... ooops dream machine... This is beauty with brain. i am not going to write long pages ... but summarize as below What i Like Pick Up - you sits in a sedan and ride a suv.. I can bet on this Reliability - very reliable partner. Have driven in the hills of kashmeer and planes of punjab without any problems.. The only thing it needs is high octane diet Control - i have tested my limit not my ikon's.. it went to 175 on ambala - delhi highway ( on petrol) and still it was under conrtol. however on LPG it shown reluctance after 135. but still i feel its a good preposition if you are fuel savy performance - it will give you everything you dream about.. you may have some limits but it has no limit... we dont have roads to support its speed Comfort - xclnt... No cabin noise.. brilliant shock absorbers ,,, its like riding on the clouds What i dont like - i am not writting this segment from my heart . still my wife insist i am doing so... it gives you fuel ceff of 7-9 kms in city and 10-12 on highway.. but its worth... as i have already mentioned A body bulider can not survive on two slices of bread a dayPower,Pick up, Comfort, Handeling,speed, reliableFuel consumption - A body bulider can not survive on two slices of bread a day

      Exterior

       Looks like a man!  Muscular.

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

      Could have been better, but beige and cloth trim makes it upmarket.  Good quality plastics.

      Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

      Its a beast!  160 KMPH was what I drove at.  Perfect braking, rapid accleration at all gears and speeds.  No vibration or sound.  What a car indeed!

      Ride Quality & Handling

      Excellent! Perfect suspension, responsive handling, amazing steering.  Slightly hard clutch but precise gear shift.

      Final Words

      Pity Foard isn't selling this car anymore!  Perhaps they are trying to promote Figo or Fiesta, but this is better than both.  Amazing Car indeed.  Have driven over 40,000 KM and its still raring to go.  Handles like a beauty.  Great Balance and hugs the road at high speeds.  Quick accleration and suberb value for money.

      Areas of improvement  

      Change the interrior utility space,throw in a factory fitted music system, try get a temparature contorl and start selling again.

       

      Excellent handling, power steering & windows, central lock, AC, 14.7Km/LtThey stopped selling this wonderful machine! its a beast. I've driven at 160Kmph and am living.

      HI friends,

      I am using Ford Ikon 1.3 ROCAM for past 1.5 years. I own a 2004 model (50,000 Kms done). While choosing my first car, online reviews have helped me a lot. Thus thaught of writing a first hand feedback on this car. So far my experiance has been fantastic. The car is easy to drive and control. very sturdy (thanks to comparatively small height) even at the speed of 150kms/hr. The pick up is quite impressive (people say its comparable to bigger cars). It has been consistently giving fuel efficiency of around 14kms / ltr on highways and 12 kms /ltr in city (with AC on). Its very much suitable for city drives as well as highway drives thanks to compact design and powerful engine.

      Large boot space, narrow width and lower height are few things I realy like about Ikon for good carraige capacity, ease of city drive and sturdy performance on highways respectively. Interiors are way better than TATA Indigo or MAruti Esteem. The engine noise is little bit high (this can be further improved), however I understand thats common amongst all FORD vehicles. Gears are little harder than Hyudai vehicles but may be because I am comparing 2004 Ford model with 2008 Hyundai model. 

      I have not come across any major trouble except for once fuel pipe got damaged, once stearing belt broke off and once thermostatic switch (controling auto operation of cooling fan) failed.  ( I think these are normal wear and tear after 3 to 4 years). However this put together did not cost me anything more than Rs.12,000. My overall expense on this car in past 1.5 years including regular servicings has not been more than 20,000 out of which around 12,000 mentioned above was only one time. (I maintain my car at a private mechanic).

      If any body is thinking of buying a second hand car then this can be realy great value for money car. (Check out availability of Ford spare parts in your city though you may not need them frequently) I think one should always consider this car while choosing any Maruti / TATA products and then take an informed decision. With own experiance of driving GetZ, Indiac, Indigo, Accent and Ford Ikon, I think I will vote surely to Ford Ikon. I have been fully satisfied with my choice of FORD.

      Exterior

       Exterior makes you look as if it is the old Ikon. Ford needs to work on this and needs to work on the exteriors.

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

       I am not much fan of the interiors and Ikon has all of it what is required. I got this Ikon along with the ikool pack which gives an choice of not even needing a single accessory from outside.

      Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

       The most aspect of this Ikon is the Engine(Ford Fiesta engine) and being lighter by 100 kgs than Fiesta gives a mileage of around 19 km(even better than what Fiesta offers). The handling on the road makes you feel enjoy whenver you drive. Gear box is better than many of the other sedans on the road.

      Ride Quality & Handling

       Amazing ride quality and handling gives a 'kick' enough to go distance without breaks.

      Final Words

       It was tough to choose a car in India even after spending 6.0 lakhs. I was looking out for a nice sedan yet budget vehicle. I thought I have made a good choice in this segment for I wanted a affordable but an efficient vehicle. People have a perception of Ford being an huge maintenence car, but gone are days and the spares and parts prices are at part with the Maruti's and Hyundais.....

      Areas of improvement  

       Need an overhaul on the exterior to make it better...

      I was looking for a decent sedan within range of 5.5 lakhs with practicality, fuel efficiency, sturdiness, running and repair costs and looks.

      The options i had in mind were dzire ldi/vxi, Hyundai accent, and ford ikon 1.4 tdci. Fiat linea, Skoda fabia, ford fusion were all pricey and short on features given the ex-showroom prices.

      Now i went to maruti showroom and test drove ritz vdi, dzire vdi and could not resist the temptation of driving sx4 zxi.

      Since i am from Australia and used to of driving 4litre and 5.7 liter cars (Ford Falcon XR6 and XR8) so i knew from the beginning that the power and performance mental block would have to be put aside since in India we have completely different perspective of power and performance.

      I was completely disappointed with the turbo lag of ritz vdi and dzire vdi as both the cars share the same engine. My personal opinion is that the turbo lag in this engine could prove disastrous while overtaking on highways due to the way power is generated when you press the throttle hard. In nut shell  the engagement and disengagement of turbo is not up to the mark and is fairly evident.

      Now Sxi being the best of Maruti’s stable is all right given the price and inclusions and features.

      But again the engine was not that responsive as I had expected it to be especially in comparison to Honda City 2008. But it beats Honda in terms of price, features, braking, spares and repairs. Honda comes thumbs up in running costs, comfort, steering sharpness. But enough of Maruti now…

      Ford Ikon 1.4 diesel engine is a gem of an engine and so is the car

       Reasons:

      It is fairly quiet (I don’t know how can people say that the engine is noisy)

      It is responsive

      Ride comfort and handling is better than most of the cars in its league.

      Boot space

      Rear room leg space is just acceptable (I am 6ft 2inches tall and still managed to sit straight at the back seat which was surprising for me). Also, the rear seats can accommodate only 2 persons of my size and built (I am muscular not Fat mind itJ!!!)

      The only flaw I could detect in the car while I was test driving was that the engine died going uphill with 5 people in the car, AC on, in the second gear. which was a shock for me b’cos this engine delivers its peak torque 160 at 2000 rpm (QUITE ATTAINABLE)  and peak power 68 ps at4000 rpm   

      But overall I liked the car and undoubtedly it is the best option available in 5.5 lakhs price range. I would say an overall complete package.
