We bought this car in 1999 with AC, Sony stereo Power Steering, it seemed a bit of luxury but was a perfect choice for a family of 5 adults. I just want to highlight that FIAT is not that bad as the market pictures it and I mean not only the product but also the after sales service & maintenance. I believe the after sales care in a country like India, where we are still far away from what is called PROFESSIONAL SERVICES, the onus of care/maintenance lies more with the owner of the car. Basically, the owner has to do things other than just pulling out the money from his pocket & then expect everything else to turn out right in time. Owners have to 1) Educate themseleves about typical checks and routine services, parts in their car. 2) Not be ignorant of any symptom the car is showing 3) Drive a car with more responsibility towards it, your family & the environment rather than use it as a tool for ego-boosters or mood-reflectors. 4) Be patient & peristent towards afer sales (its people like us who are doing their jobs just like we do), moreover its the underpaid mechanics/supervisors who have to do multiple jobs to make a life. We Indians want American Cars but forget that typical American washes, services & does basic repaires him self to save on after sales maintenance costs.Has been VFM, Wonderful fuel economy, Powerful HVAC, Comfortable seats 5Ground Clearance, Resale Value, Outdated Design

Exterior: The Uno is stylish specially from the front side, though it has sharp and sudden bends which may not be in line with current designs which are more focused on curves. But the rear shape really makes it functional ensuring huge boot space.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort): The interiors are really spacious. No other car in this category is as spacious. I think it is as spacious as a Honda City or a Fiat Linea. You get the feel of sitting in a big car though the car belongs to the small car category. The boot is extremely spacious. After having driven my Uno Diesel for more than eleven and a half  years I am now spoilt for space. No car in small car category can give the space that the Uno gives. It is simply too good!

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox: Engine may not be as powerful as the newly introduced cars but I have never felt inadequacy of power. Despite being a diesel car it still has a good pick up after doing 165, 000 km. The suspension is also quite good and the car has good road grip. The engine is fuel efficient and still gives me 16.5 km per litre in the city without the AC on and about 13 kmpl with the AC on.  Earlier it used to give me 18.5 kmpl without AC. No problems with gear box.

Ride Quality & Handling: Good suspension and spaciousness ensure superb ride quality.

Final Words: I WISH THE UNO WAS STILL BEING PRODUCED. I WOULD HAVE REPLACED MY OLD UNO WITH A NEW ONE. MY WHOLE FAMILY SIMPLY LOVES THE CAR.

Really, really spacious; excellent suspension and road grip, fuel efficientNone

This car Fiat Uno is an engineering marvaleous with its aerodynamics shape, comfortaable seats both front and rear seats with ample leg space, which is a major drawback in all existing cars in India. Its engine starts with first turn of ignition key even after Seven years running 70,000 kms. Mileage I get even today is 15 kmpl in city and 18 kmpl on highways. The pleasure of driving and riding are uncomparable at 90 kmph and above. I strongly feel as Professor and Head of automobile engineering department that this Car deserves to stay for the benefit of Public a large in India.Economical, reliable and comfortable carNil

I have driven a Petrol A/c UNO for the past 8 years.I really enjoyed drivingit and would say that the ride quality is as good as a Honda city ,which I am driving now, taking into consideration that it is a small car.It is quite spacious and has a large boot.I never faced any problems for service and any breakdown was properly attended too ( though there were never anyy breakdown except for the leakeage from the sleeve cylinder and the axle boot. The car goes to 150 easily and is rock solid and does not loose its road grip. The interiors are also very cimfy with lot of space for small tit bits. The A/c though is not as powerful as it should have been and the fact that that there was a fell of inadequet power when overtaking with the A/c on,also you colud feel a sort of strain on the engine in low speeds when the A/c was on..The mileage was also satisfactory ,it was giving me around 12km/litre in city and 14km/litre on highway with the A/c on.Overall I enjoyed driving it.Solid feel, good road grip, large boot, good powerLow ground clearence, parts are expensive

I bought this car in 1999. I have already driven this car for more than 178000 km. I never had any problem with this car except that when I banged it into a Qualis on highway. Surprisingly none of us sitting in the car got heart. Not even a single scratch on our body. Even the windscreen was intact while car's condensor, radiator and battery was damaged. It was badly damaged from the front. After repair now it is impossible to find any mark of accident. I never had any problem with its spare so far. This car is very durable. No engine work till today. Giving me an average of 14 km in city and 18 km on highways. It has a very effective AC.  I am very happy with this car. Now I am planing to buy Linea very shortly. Samyak Motors is the best service station for all fiat cars.14 km per ltr in city and 18 km per ltr on highways very sturdy and good carinteriors as per the price, very spacious, never had any problem driving since last 10 years

I have been using Fiat Uno 1.2 El petrol for 15 years now at New Delhi. It is still the best car I have liked in terms of ride and handling. It is small as well as spacious. It's driveability is like a SUV. Road grip is amazing. I have decided to keep the car lifelong. I have already taken NOC from Delhi RTO and got it registered at Bhopal. As far as spares are concerned, one has to keep the store-keeper at Fiat dealership in good humour and place demand with the company. Please note some spares like oil filter, spark plugs, brake pads etc are common with Palio. So far it has been a great experience owning an Uno. For running day to day maintenance one has to cultivate a mechanic in the neighbourhood and keep essential spares handy. Fiat company has always been co-operative. They still make the best cars with better specifications and at relatively cheaper price. Please note as per my experience even Fiat spare parts are relatively cheaper than similar parts of other car brands. M Kapoor Professor Sr Citizen

I recommend this car only those who love a gud and muscular engine perfomance.....
I didn't get any maintenence work during my 5 years of  use.

The interiors n furnishing is poor and old fashioned, especially you can notice the handle on the door is bulgin out from the body and it is out fashioned. Also the parts r pretty higher priced and less to find in the market.

      Thank You!
No maintenence even for diesel engine, gud mileage, excellent engine perfomanceRough and ugly interiors,Less spacious, poor ground clearance, engine sound is more.

I always loved Fiat car and bought the car in 2001. Very good performance. Even at 130 kmph you dont feel the speed. Good pickup, very stable. More space, good mileage. I almost had a major accident but none of us are hurt. We could just got down of the car. Every one thought we are dead and surprised to see us getting out of the car, opening the doors. Its breaking system, its stability and the strong body saved us all. I am still using it. The dealer here closed wound up his establishement and there were none at present, so I am having problems for good service. I use it very roughly but still it gives me good service. But now by biggest problem is non availability of spare parts. My mechanic is a very good one but spares.....This is making me scared to take it on long journeys. I dont understand why Fiat company is neglecting such a good vehicle and also dont bother about customers and service. I wanted to buy a new car but scared of going for a fiat car. There is no guarentee that they will give any service. So I am opting for other brands though I love a fiat car. I am not able to trust the company. I am very much dis-heartened.Good leg space, boot space. Good fuel economy. Comfort for long journeys. Good pickup. No service. Spare Parts not available. Very helpless condition.

I have owned the FIat Uno base model (upgraded with after market fitted AC) for the past 8 years. it has truly been a work horse and served me really well all these years and still continues to do so.

The car has always been very smooth, has an excellent ride quality, great suspension (a bit low though), amazing road grip, lovely driving position and delivers power smoothly almost linearly. the fuel economy has been between 12 - 17 depending on traffic and road conditions.  It lends itself great for modifications and is a preferred car in Europe for street racers (esp the 1.3 petrol turbo which was not launched in India). I put on mag wheels and turbo boosters and it has amazed me with the performance. I have travelled all over the country in this car and the car has never given an iota of trouble, really well made car. one does not need power steering at all, and the driving position is comfortable even for long drives and gives an excellent view of the road.

the only problem I had with the car was in the 1st 4 months itself the exhaust broke off and I had to wait for 3 months for the dealer to get a replacement from the factory. I fashioned a exhaust harness myself later and never had trouble again.

on the negative side - dated looks, minimal interiors, expensive spares.

excellent overall value for money, best ride in its class and moredated looks, expensive spares, fiat service
