Being a Fiat Punto Active user for last 5 years I personally thought it was important to post a review for users who are looking for reviews from people who have used this car brand for a longer period since it was launched in India just over 5 years back. Having owned a Maruti Zen for 6 years before buying this car I can objectively say that it has been an overall bad experiece for me. Each year the car has thrown up some or the other major issues with me having to spend 20K - 25K on an average every year on major repairs. Note that not even once have I had a single accident and the fact that my car has only run for 30000 kms (since it always had some issue) so there is no question of any major wear and tear. Following are the major repairs required every year -

Year 1 - Entire electric circuit replacement

Year 2 - Power windows, door lock damage (both front doors) & broken plastic interiors

Year 3 - Fuel tank & its meter issue

Year 4 - Power steering oil leaks requiring cable & pad replacements

Year 5 - Gear box & clutch replacement

For all 5 years the authorized service center openly acknowledged poor quality of the car brand, were apologetic but had only one answer 'needs replacement no choice'. It amazes me that an well known Italian car manufacturer can deliver such poor quality product. And I sincerely hope that no one undergoes the emotional agony. Irony there is a 'Emotion' variant of the car as well.

Fiat don't have their own workshop to service the vehicle. They have outsourced to couple of companies like Rudramotors, Jayvijay Skymotor. They are just fooling the customer around. They don't have required skill to repair your vehicle but have expertise how to loot customers once your vehicle is in. I am facing break issue since 5 year many times in traffic break pad becomes very hard up to a level of not getting pressed I had to apply hand break to avoid accidents. Showed it to all workshops and they just made money but issues not resolved yet. They replaced my cluch pad and gear box last year and just a running of ~5k it's damaged again. Charging a fee like bomb ... No one is ready to listen ... I will never buy any Fiat car nor recommend anyone. Car is good but services are pathetic I am getting a strong feeling that they use duplicate part in Thier workshop.

After a long search of hatchback, we ended up with Fiat Punto. We bought this car on the year end offer on Nov 2009. The machine is powerful and had enough torque. We are in a hilly region and we found that Punto has been a great ride for its comfort and mileage. The vehicle is so sturdy for we can feel it when we place our hands on the steering wheel. I loved the performance of the vehicle, the torque it had which was easy for me to drive uphill. The mileage is immense. I was able to get 26 kmpl average on downhill drive and 22 - 24 kmpl average overall. We mostly used it for long drives covering 500km average in a drive. The road grip at high speeds are very ample and safe that I have given a shot of 195kmph twice. Overall the PETRONAS oils gives the engine a smoother ride and the cost is quite low when expected. I've driven 2,00,000+ KM's and the engine has the same feel as I drive the new. The vehicle have never broken down anywhere as we give the vehicle for regular periodic service. The vehicle is sexy and comfortable for the rear passengers and I don't even feel the tired as the vehicle is steady and sturdy which gives no back pain and gives my ride comfortable. The powerful multijet engine gives a good push on race and we feel we fly on roads. The turning radius is little inadequate than expected, making a hard time for u turns in city and trafficking areas for we are forced to take the longer turn or take two at a time plunging on the reverse gear. The machine is a bride and pure love. Buckle up on every drive!!

I started learning driving in 2018 and in May 2019 decided on buying a used car for road confidence and experience, I bought this car from a second hand car dealer, and he gave me multiple cars to test drive before this one, all other cars felt pretty normal, but this car's power and steering feedback just made me fall in love with it. Pros:- 1. Looks :- I have been in love with this car since I drove it in a video game i.e. Need for Speed Most wanted, it's a pretty beautiful Hatchback. 2. Handling :- The Suspension setup and steering feedback on this car is something every enthusiast will love. 3. Basic Safety :- It got 2 Airbags, ABS and pretty good brakes. 4. Wide Tyres :- It got wider tyres for better grip and ride quality. This particular model had 196/60 R15 wheels. 5. Power Windows :- All 4 windows are power windows, and one touch down, and driver window is one touch Up too. 6. Powerful Engine :- It has a pretty powerful Engine for it's time (when it was released) 90bhp. 7. High Speed Stability :- Even while driving at 120kmph, I never felt any issues or instability, even my parents didn't feel like we were going that fast, the car was that much stable. Cons :- 1. Mileage :- This engine is revv friendly so obviously doesn't return very good mileage. 2. Wide Turning Radius :- Due to wider wheels, this hatchback has a wider turning radius. 3. Low quality interior :- For it's price, the fit and finish and plastic levels of this car is pretty low quality, there are panel gaps too. 4. Low ground clearance :- I belong to Himachal and it touches ground a lot of times when going through uneven hilly roads, the ca hur is long and ground clearance is alot, so the bottom part hits alot times, it's basically a city car.

The buying experience was excellent... When I ride it feels safe and strong and driving dynamics are exceptional great braking never ever leave the road.... The vintage look can be modified as per your wish... ..only regular service and other parts replacement as defined by the manufacturer..... I you want a machine to cover lakhs of km go for it
