Toyota to bring in the Yaris in India

August 17, 2007 – 8:58 pm by Ashish Jha

Toyota Yaris Front Three-FourthQ. Whats the automotive synonym for cute, reliable and efficient, all combined in one?
A. Toyota Yaris.

And it is this adorable little car or a car based on this very platform that Toyota will introduce in India in due course of time to make the small-car war more intense. The Yaris has established itself as a lovely little car that has done well for Toyota over the years and continues to do so. Accepted that Toyota Yaris is a cute looking car, but so is she purposeful.

The styling is to everyone’s liking and will please the younger lads and the little older ones alike. The short overhangs on either end add character to the car’s overall Toyota Yaris Rearappearance. The front is dominated by the dumpy, podgy hood and the large headlamps. The grille blends well with the overall design mantra of the car. The rear too has an attractive look to it and comes across as one of the best-looking bums on a small car. The sculpted tail lamps add flavour to the already well made behinds which has a round and soft feel to it!

Doing duty in the European version, the 1.4L diesel and the 1.3L petrol are known for being eager units and endow the Yaris with a high fun-to-drive quotient. But these are not the engines that will arrive on our shores. Toyota has a basket-full of options to power the for-India Yaris. The 1.0L VVT-i or the 1.3L VVT-i motors have a high possibility of occupying the space under the hood and an oil burning engine might get offered later on as well.

The European Yaris has been acclaimed for its agility and responsiveness. The suspension is well sorted out and does well to absorb bumps. No matter what her diminutive stature suggests, Yaris can comfortably house five passengers. The split-folding rear seats will aid practicality.

Toyota Yaris DashComing in from a legendary auto-maker like Toyota, the Yaris can be counted upon for being reliable. The dash houses a mid-mounted speedo console, on the lines of the Chevy Spark. The build quality too should not raise eyebrows at all

Toyota means peace-of-mind and the same comes as a standard feature with the car. Toyota will also ensure that the maintenance costs are kept to the minimum. This is one compact-car that makes for a perfect VFM proposition if priced well. And the Japanese giant can be relied upon to do so!

The Toyota Yaris has the right styling and the brand image going for it - the two very important factors in an Indian buyer’s mind when making a purchase. So, whats Toyota waiting for then? Launch it soon guy… hope someone’s listening at the Japanese camp!

  9. Chevrolet’s new aveo U-VA 2008

    1) This new aveo U-VA will be the 2008 avtar of aveo
U-VA for the indian market and will have the same engine which powers the current U-VA.

    2) Body coloured bumper, Centerally placed Logo. Sporty fog lights , Different and stylish bonnet follows the lines of radiator grill. SO MANY THINGS.

If somebody is planning for U-VA and people who are thinking to buy car next year then they can think for this car.

Send me the request here only or mail me, I will send you the pictures and more details.

  12. I think Yaris will be priced between 5 to 6Lacs range.

By Speedster on Oct 12, 2007

  13. well i have read alot of above given ideas. I really want to know why arent these big auto companies planning to bring/make/design cars in the range of 2 to 2.5 lacs.I sincerely believe that market is there for something new with added features not like santro or zen.something big/sedan look but affordable in the price range of 2 to 2.5 lacs.I think that is what people are requiring now.people have lost interest in these old small cars.

By vikas on Oct 12, 2007

  14. Vikas, In that case you can look forward to the TATA 1Lac car - Full loaded top end model would be around 2.25Lacs. Not many car companies are keen to bring out new models in that segment. With rising incomes and increased demands for power & sophistication, it is unlikely that any new model will be launched in that range. Maruti is even planning to phase out Alto/Wagon-R and replace it with new version but at the price of current Wagon-R.

  15. Yaris doesnt compare well with other cars like U-VA, because of low ground clearance, poor visibility due to high windows. Toyota should bring something much more advanced than this ageing Yaris!
