Honda to ‘Jazz’ up the Indian market
July 24, 2007 – 1:21 pm by Ashish Jha
It will be foolish if Honda does not have a small car in its “India centric” portfolio, and the Japanese major knows that well. So after toying around with the idea of introducing a small car in India for a long time, Honda is finally getting serious. High time!
The Jazz, or the Fit as it is known in some markets, is not a car that would instigate jealousy in the heart of passerbys for its style. This car is aimed at delivering practicality to the customers and it offers that in style. Interior space is impressive and the comfy seats can fold down in many configurations to enhance loading capacity.
In its current form, the Jazz comes with a dashboard that looks like that of the Civic but makes do without the digital speedo. Also do not expect steering mounted controls that you see here. Ergonomically designed dash makes life better behind the wheel and the quality is not compromised upon either. Lots of cubby holes and storage areas make it a great utility offering.
The uni-body construction incorporates MacPherson Struts upfront and a torsion beam suspension layout at the rear. Front stabilizer bar, electric power steering and 14″ wheels will feature on the Indian version of the Jazz while 15 inchers might be offered as an option.
The Honda Jazz sold in European and American markets is equipped with a 1.5L VTEC
engine that pumps out 110PS. This, in all possibilities, will NOT be the engine that will power the Jazz once it hits the Indian shore. Expect a smaller engine that will be less powerfull but dutiful enough to perform well. The car has been acclaimed and praised for its handling prowess and the body roll is well controlled.
Looking at how the City, Civic and the CRV have stirred the Indian market, the success of Jazz is only but expected.

Another great news from Honda. I’m pretty sure lots of consumers from India is looking forward to it. We have to wait and see if it would be a successful.. Honda Jazz is a great car. It is equipped of some of the finest car parts like that of honda clutch kits and other accessories giving it an attractive and stylish look inside and out. It has also a good performance, handling and comfortable driving.

Knowing Honda for there prices, I guess they will ask for a premium for this car too…as they for City, civic, and the CRV.
By sanjeev on Jul 28, 2007
What is wrong in asking for a premium if product is really good ? I appreciate the quality of Honda City which is still selling hot despite the launch of New C Segment Cars.
By Sanjeev Singh on Jul 28, 2007
We can always trust Honda for their Style, quality and honest price. The front shape is very elegent when compared to the rear shape. The earlier version of City had a very good rear shape when compared to the new City. Jazz rear shape looks better without rear visor

what will be the estimated price of new honda ‘jazz’
By gaurav on Jul 29, 2007
Gaurav,
The Honda Jazz is going to fight it out in the B segment and should be priced between 4-5 lakh.
By Ashish on Jul 30, 2007
Any idea as to when will jazz be launched in India? Also, is the Skoda Fabia going to be launched at all!?!?!?
By Mayank on Jul 30, 2007
Mayank,
Do not expect the Jazz to enter the Indian market till early 2009. The Skoda Fabia should roll on our roads by the year end or early next year. It is already being put under real-world testing by Skoda.
By Ashish on Jul 30, 2007
Honda has always been pricing their cars at higher value and we cant expect Jazz to be of any exception to the pricing they follow. It would definitely be above 5lakhs for sure.
By Praveen on Aug 1, 2007
Honda has announced that its small cars will be here only by 2009 or 2010. This article seems a bit untimely!
By Manoj KC on Aug 1, 2007
I AM USING CIVIC SINCE MARCH.THE DEPTH IN CUSTOMER SATISFACTION WHICH HONDA GIVES IN MINUTE UTILITY,PLEASING INTERIORS & ATRECTIVE EXTERIORS,ADVANCED MACHINERY HAS NO MATCH.THIS SMALL CAR MAY BE SURE HEART OF MAJOR CLASS HAVING TASTE AND IF IT COMES IN DIESEAL THAN GOD BLESS OTHER COS.
By LALIT RATHI on Aug 2, 2007
Honda Jazz must come by early next year( Mar 08), with desiel engine economical on fuel costs. But must have fittings of top end car & not be a stripped down car to control the PP (purchase price). Or it must have various variants for the purchaser like ABS, air bags, Drivers seat adjustable etc
By ASPI on Aug 2, 2007
when exactly date of launch
By pattabhi ramu on Aug 2, 2007
Honda Jazz come by early next year( Mar-April 2008), with desiel engine although it is economical on fuel costs at plains of India but desiel engine is not so good for hill regions of Indian teritory. Perticularly in Our Uttarakhand, Himanchal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Sikkim, Nagaland etc.In winters desiel freezes in all moter cars .So please think over it. We want a petrol engine with low cost. Which is good for middle income families.

For indian roads honda disel version medium car will be useful for so many emplyees .and rate shoud be below 5 lakhs. Indica if we can buy it seems taxi .
so the new car will be the disel and milige 15 so that so many middile class pepole will be used the same.
By srinivas on Aug 6, 2007
Well it will always have uppen hand in our country for its Brand HONDA. It stands for quality, realiability, safety, and always inovative idea. No doubt other players has the same but in compare to other manufactures HONDA is always ahead.

Please guide me. I am in confusion.
I have decided to go for Swift zxi in Diwali.
Whether I should wait for Honda Zazz or Skoda Fabia?
Or whether i should go for Swift.
By Vijay on Aug 7, 2007
Dear Vijay,
If you can wait for —-
1. Another 2-3 months than Skoda Fabia is coming by the end of this year (2007).
2. Another 2-3 years than Jazz is good option.(To be launched in 2009 or early 2010 and moreover by that time there will boom in car market–LOTS OF OPTION)
Otherwise Swift is good option.
Cheers.

We all know that Honda equalls quality, safety and reliability. It has been able to build a niche market for itself because it had no competition, that is,till the SX4 was launched. Now with kind of reach sales and service deptt of maruti-suzuki has,can honda compete? i guess not…so what will honda do?The market is really opening up and many good cars are lined up for launch.KNOCK-2….Honda.

Anuj,
Honda Jazz’s expected arrival is early 2009. But no worries, you have fantastic diesel cars like Swift DDiS and Getz CRDi to choose from. You can go ahead with your purchase in December this year or early next year.
By Banwari on Nov 16, 2007
jazz definitely looks great and is appealing both in style and performance with 1.5Ltr high performance engine….but by the time, we find it rolling on Indian roads, it may not remain as applealing as we now find it is, for the reason - regular and fast launch of models by its competiters. Anyways, lets hope for a best pricing.
By Eklavya Lall on Nov 21, 2007
TheHonda Jazz is an amazing car and if it is launched with all teh features currently available as in teh model in UK, it is going to be a hit from day one. The price should be in the range of 5 - 6 lakhs if Honda has to give others a run for money. I have experienced this car in the UK and it is a dream machine very well suited to Indian roads. End 2008 is too far - perhaps mid 2008 is worth a wait !! Go for it Honda !!

By vikram on Jan 19, 2008
@ Raghu
I feel you should wait for the new honda jazz though it may be slightly costlier than the Swift , i feel its worth the extra buckss , if you are in a hurry or budget is strict then Please go ahead with the Swift , donot decide on fabia soon. 1st option Jazz 2nd one is Swift

Hi ,
When Honda Jazz is coming , is it a station wagon ? I am planning to buy Swift Dzire , which would be better JAzz or Dzire.
By Raj on Jun 19, 2008
The Dzire’s a sedan, while the Jazz will be a hatchback much in the Fabia’s mould. It is expected sometime next year.

looking forward for your mid 2009 launch of honda jazz.please make it with in 4-4.5 lakn segment.honda is definitely the leader in auto technology, let the indian middle class get the benifit of master auto tech honda without any delay.
By sajeev on Mar 22, 2009
And the wait continues! Rumour has it that it will be launched in June this year.
By zinga on Apr 22, 2009
If honda wants a runway sucess of jazz i has to price aggressive in the range of hyundai i20, hyundai swift and tata vista not like the way skoda did in hatch segment of its fabia pricing it high which has made a dent in his car sales
By vikas kapoor on Apr 24, 2009
Honda cud have done a better job of pricing on the Jazz .. this is utter nonsense .. dealers are complaining of a sudden drop in the walkins post announcement and few people have even cancelled their bookings ..
In time to come .. Honda will realize that all the money they poured in to the Jass just made life easier for the Fiat Grande Punto .. I am sure those people waiting for the Jazz are going to lap up the GP . .atleast I know I am
By Mehta on Jun 15, 2009
all those who support the high price are just out for a ego trip, they might even buy the car just to prove that they have got money. And just becoz they buy it does not mean that the car is superbly advanced. As far as refinement of the engine, I don’t think that the technology is at par with rocket science. So the premium should not be in lakhs, but in just a few thousands. Honda feels that everything they come out with is gold, well there are customers who buy Honda products rant about how other cars are not as freakin refined as Honda.seriously who cares, hondas dont give alloy wheels, no climate control, which are available even in the Fiat linea.Honda cars are extremely expensive to maintain, mileage is just about average, so what the hell is all this best technology rant about from Honda.
