Tata Motors sales figures January 2009

Tata Motors’ January sales fell by 9% in January 2009. The Pimpri-based manufacturer sold 18,331 units of passenger vehicles in the first month of 2009, which were the highest this fiscal since May 2008, 86% up over December 2008.
Cumulative sales of 157,415 units of passenger vehicles in the domestic market with a decline of 8% over 171,255 units in the same period last year. Cumulative sales 86,260 units of the Indica range reported a reducing decline of 23%. Cumulative sales of the Indigo family were 40,405 units, a growth of 76%. Cumulative sales of 30,750 units of Sumo and Safari at declined by 14%.
The company has started distributing the Fiat Linea at the joint Tata-Fiat dealerships to the market. The company distributes the Linea along with the Fiat Palio and the Fiat 500.
