Honda Jazz coming this June
April 23, 2009 – 12:50 pm by Rachit Hirani
Honda will enter the premium hatchback segment of the Indian car market with its Jazz. The Jazz will be powered with a 1.2 litre petrol engine. The front snout of the Jazz reminds of the previous model of the Honda City sold till 2008.
The Jazz will be launched in this June and will be priced around in the range of Rs 5 lakh. It will compete with Skoda’s Fabia, Hyundai i20, Maruti’s upcoming model Ritz and the soon to be launched Fiat Grande Punto.
The Jazz shares its platform with the Honda City, and about 70% of the car parts have been localized. The car could be powered by a V-Tec engine which Honda calms to be highly efficient. The Honda’s only small car even at the global level, fulfills the definition of a small car set by the Indian government and will get the 8% duty cut, reducing its price.
