Great Start Guys,
I am sure with the dedication and zeal you people are definitely going make right reviews.
Just read the SX4 & liked it too. I was actually planning to buy honda city but with this review i might wait till the time i also get the review on honda city. When are you guys writing on city?
Images are also great. It would be good if we can make some of them as wall paper. Over all good work.
Cheers!

Sachin,
Overall, the SX4 is a better buy than the City, so my suggestion - go buy the former right away, lest you experience a huge waiting period! We shall try to put in a road test of the City too, but I can’t promise that at this point of time. Nevertheless, the comparison between the above mentioned cars have been drawn to a certain extent. The Honda scores over the SX4 in the mileage department and rides better than the Maruti at lower speeds. The quality of the plastics inside is also better than the SX4. This apart, the car otherwise is ahead of the City on all other fronts. Drive both, take a general feel and take your pick!

Hi
This article on SX4 has been an eye opener for me as i never imagined SX4 had so much punch. Maruti has always been a little shaky in deliverying a successful C segment. By Success i refer to the sales n not the product, as Baleno was a good performer but it lost out on the looks front……which so very important for us Indians!!
A hearty congratulatons to the carwale.com team for coming up with such detailed analysis and wish them all the best.

The SX4 is a far better product in terms of value & performance than the Honda City. Read more about SX4 Vs City here: http://indimoto.com/blog/index.php/2007/05/23/maruti_suzuki_sx4_india_new_baleno_launc

I beg to differ that SX4 is a better car than Honda City, for CITY driving.
I test drove the SX4 twice and was disappointed both times about the quality of the car. Yes, it is cheaper, yes it has more features BUT is it a good, solid and well built car? Only time will tell but I don’t think so. It is already being referred to as a Rattle-Box.
Consider this - every time I see an SX4 from behind on the road, the big black ugly silencer can be seen hanging from the lower body. And almost without exception, you can see the silencer bobbing and shaking under the car. This is a car that is less than 6months old!! What does this tell you about the quality of the car? I looked at 30 year old antique taxis in Mumbai and even they didnt have a part hanging and shaking like the SX4.
Yes the SX4 is powerful, zippy but the interiors are horrible. I had read a lot about it but you have to sit inside and SX4 to realize how cheap they are.
The fuel economy is another sore point.
In terms of quality, reliability and peace of mind for city driving, in my opinion, the City beats the SX4 hands down.

Hi Ajay
I cannot compare the build quality of the honda with the SX4, but what is this reliability and peace of mind b’shit you are talking about. If I wanted build quality, I’d probably have bought a beemer or something.
What is this peace of mind your city offers, i’d like to know cos I want to install the same in my SX4.
I don’t know which city in India has billiard table smooth roads. But I do know what a beating the SX4 can dish out on bad roads.
Having Maruti products from 1985, reliability hasn’t really been an issue..if it was, then MUL would have folded up long ago. Cheers, Mitra
