Tata launches Indica Vista
August 23, 2008 – 7:51 pm by Charles PennefatherThe wait is finally over for all the people who have been putting off their car purchase because they’ve been waiting for the new Indica. We took a short drive at the launch of the Indica Vista and our first impression suggests that it has been well worth the wait. The Indica Vista will co-exist alongside the current Indica, and prices begin at Rs 3.49 lakh for the base petrol variant, and go up to Rs 4.88 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi, for the top-end Quadrajet diesel variant.
The Vista is bigger, yes, but what makes it so enjoyable are the little touches Tata has so thoughtfully incorporated in the car - for instance, soft-touch plastics aren’t restricted to the dashboard, they’re present on both the front and rear door pads. Another example that illustrates this is the fact that if your wipers are on, the rear wiper is turned on as long as reverse gear is engaged. The two-DIN music player has a USB port, the seats have adjustable height and lumbar support, and the paint looks incredibly lustrous. Tata’s done well with the Vista, we think - now we’ll have to see what the sales charts say.

All together again a great offering from TATAs and I expect that new Indica Vista will dominate the segment it is placed in.

Good Going Tata! Fresh design - love the large greenhouse and the bold lines. Just wish the wheel trim didn’t look like it came from the Logan though! Alloys and a good set of shoes should make it look smashing
By KG on Aug 25, 2008
The Indica DOES have the option of alloy wheels, but they don’t make much of an impact, neither do the new GT3 tyres they’ve switched to.

Sir,
I want to know about the performance and power aswell as the fuel economy of India Vista. My question is what about the petrol engine and if it is worth as all the concentration is going for the diesel engine
Regards
By Priyadarshi on Aug 28, 2008
@Pankaj: Yes, the Quadrajet is the same engine, but with different mapping and gear ratios.

@Priyadarshi: we didn’t drive the petrol at the launch, but we should have a first impression of it very soon. Give us a little more time.

I have taken test drive. I feel gear shifting very poor and steering very hard.Although i am driving Indica.
By Neelkanth Agrawal on Aug 29, 2008
I took test drive,The first flaw i noticed is the speedometer is in the middle of front dashboard,Which in itself is distracting.
Secondly, the suspension as compared to swift or dezire is on the lower side.
But the best part is that the enjine they are using and the stylish looks.

I m planning to buy vista safire1.2 aura, but I heard that petrol engine is seriously underpowered. Is it true? Should I purchase it or not I m confused? should I think of desel version of it? but it would cost me around 1 lac.extra bucks Should I think about some other car or should I wait for some more time
By Sachin on Sep 5, 2008
well, i think the others players in this segment should watch out for indica vista as it is going to give them tough times ahead so far as sales are concerned thats what i feel from its looks.but the only thing that remains to be seen is the performance of the car which only time will tell.i will wait for sometime before i go for it.

I Think U should go for Swift.
By Neeraj on Sep 6, 2008
Indica Vista would be the right choice for you b’coz it is fitted with latest engine and its appearence is more appealing than Swift.you should go for Vista “Gargi”.
By Janeshwar Banshtu on Sep 7, 2008
Very good going Tata. The Vista is a very good looking vehicle with International Standards. The engine is also superb. Indica has already proved itself in the Inidan Market. At present it may be the best looking car in the market with looks, space and performanace.
Cheers Indica !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But did any one got the delivery of the new vehicle?
is it worth paying almost 70k more for quadrajet than TDi desal engine?
By santosh on Sep 10, 2008
Hi,
It is definitly worth. This is a great car and value for money. If you go for quadrajet in Swift, it takes 3 months waiting period and Vista is catching fast popularity having same engine and great space and interiors at lesser cost. You feel like you are sitting in Honda City.
By mak on Sep 12, 2008
Yes i got deleivery of my vista aura on 8-9-2008 it gives 13.6 per lt.in local with ac on or goes 19.8 on highway @ speed 90-120 or give 24 if drive @ speed 65 to 75 in 5th gear on night with no breaks
i have one swift also the proformance of both cars is same i fell difrence only in space or price

Hi,
I am planning to buy the Indica Vista but I don’t know the performance of the TDi engine. TDi is not available for test drive.
Is any buddy taken the test drive of TDi engine?
By Makarand on Oct 22, 2008
Mr. Makrand, its best to invest the extra money in the Quadrajet. Its a much newer engine, more fuel efficient & will surely command a better resale value in years to come. Also I feel that the TDi engine is more for the fleet operators (those who operate privately).

I took indica vista (aura) on 5-11-2008. the performance of the vehicle is very good and the looks are mind blowing thanks for TATA people to bring this type of car on road.
