Skoda’s FabiaFeelSpecial.com is Spreading Viruses
January 21, 2008 – 10:10 am by Banwari Lal SharmaUpdate: The problem is rectified now. The site is safe to visit. Skoda people acted really fast! ![]()
When I opened Skoda Fabia’s Feel Special website (www.fabiafeelspecial.com) a few moments ago, my Mozilla Firefox crashed! I tried opening the page thrice but with no
success. Highly wondering, I tried opening the site in Internet Explorer. The Microsoft web browser didn’t crash but before opening the site downloaded loads of viruses. Soon after entering the address in browser, AVG antivirus on my machine started prompting for viruses. Among the identified viruses were JS Psyme Trojan horses. Skoda Fabia Feel Special site has been hacked!
Guys, if you don’t have good anti-virus protection on your computer or are not too tech-savvy, please stay away from the site for a while. I will notify Skoda people about this and once the problem is rectified I will post here so that you can visit the site again.

@Roger,
I noticed the problem at 9:47 am, called Skoda’s PR people. Checked site back at around 10:30 am, the problem was still there. Then we called Skoda’s internal people. Checked site back at around 12:30 and the problem was rectified. Quick enough for Skoda as their skoda-auto.co.in is updated in ages!
@Godfrey,
What kind of conference you had? Anyways, even if the problem was persistent, you could have browsed the site. Yes, you could have got a few viruses downloaded on your machine.

@Banwari
Since you use this computer for business purposes, shouldn’t you be using the “Pro” version of AVG?
But alas, I am guilty of the same. I will upgrade to the Pro version very soon now (as soon as my next paycheque comes in!).

Rohit,
You pointed it right but this blog entry wasn’t made from my office desktop, I posted it from my personal laptop. In office, we don’t use AVG.
Yes, I use this laptop for posting here in Blog, Forums etc but since it’s my own machine and I never take it to work, I think I can use ‘AVG Free’ for free?
Still, a very valid point. Will read Grisoft’s EULA and if this violets their terms of personal use, will definitely go for a paid one.
