Mercedes-Benz inaugurates Pune facility
February 24, 2009 – 4:45 pm by Charles PennefatherMercedes-Benz India has inaugurated its first fully-owned facility in India, in Chakan on the outskirts of Pune, Maharashtra. The C-Class and E-Class will be assembled here.
The rest of the Mercedes range was on display at the launch, including the AMG performance cars and the Actros truck. It is one of the largest Greenfield facilities in the area and took 13 months to build from scratch - a record in Mercedes Benz’a books. It meets M-B’s high standards of quality and safety as well.
