Maruti Suzuki Launches New Grand Vitara
July 5, 2007 – 3:25 pm by Banwari Lal Sharma
Maruti Udyog Ltd has launched the new Grand Vitara a couple of hours ago. The new Grand Vitara has got a lighter 2litre Petrol engine and is available for sale in two versions (Manual and Automatic). Price for manual and automatic transmission versions are kept 13.8lakhs and 14.8lakhs respectively (Ex-showroom, Delhi).
The new all-time four-wheel-drive Grand Vitara’s 2liter, 16-valve, DOHC, J-Series VIS engine can output 120ps of power at 5500 rpm and 170Nm of torque at 3500rpm. Though this power is nowhere close to the strongest competitor, Honda’s CRV, but with lighter engine and reduced prices, Maruti can ensure better economic ownership. Safety features like dual airbags, ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brake-Force Distribution) and BA (Brake Assist) are available as standard options and make the car a good deal for the price.
Let’s see if this 5-seater compact-SUV from Maruti Suzuki can do something substantial and eat into Honda’s segment-leader CRV’s market share.

Big! Spacious and awesome! This version of Grand Vitara rocks. My friend bought it this month and is happy that he did. Very comfortable for long drives, its interiors are amazingly comfortable…..we took our turns to drive it as we headed for Goa and had a great time. Firstly, its seats are designed so well that we don’t feel the fatigue at all. Apart from this, it has unibody construction. Which means it has no separate frame and some body parts (such as the floors) are incorporated into the base structure of the car. The result is lighter weight and usually a smoother, more comfortable ride. Superb driving experience. Great safety is assured through its other features. What’s more this one is amazingly versatile. One can take this good looking car for a prestigious party as well….its great for city driving too. Planning to buy it soon….go for a test drive and you’ll see what i mean. Discover this new vehicle…you’ll love it!

A friend of mine owns a Grand Vitara. Got an opportunity to drive it , and I must say it is a fantabulous machine! Was a little sceptical about its on-road capabilities, but I was in for a pleasant surprise. I drove with ease, and with minimal discomfort through the pot-hole-ridden roads of Aaamchi Mumbai. But once we hit the Pune expressway, boy, that was something else. The 4 hours drive to Pune was fab! Enjoyed every moment of it. A robust machine for every SUV lover!

It is beautiful, elegant, and adventurous. These are the qualities that you look for when you choose a SUV car. New Grand Vitara’s built-in ladder frame construction holds the whole machine as a one unit. I really enjoyed the test drive.

The interior of Grand Vitara is very stylish and comfortable. Instrument panel is well laid out, and dash looks attractive with wood and its LCD readout. It’s spacious with comfortable ergonomics. Definitely, Grand Vitara has luxurious interiors that you can’t resist.
