Tata Motors Launches Trimmed Indigo XL Classic
May 8, 2007 – 4:09 pm by AnuragGood news for all those people who wanted a big car at a low price. Tata Motors has launched the lower trim level of its recently launched longer wheelbase, Indigo XL. This trimmed version is named Indigo XL Classic.
Indigo XL classic is available in both Petrol and Diesel variants. The new petrol variant has the same 16V Twin Cam engine with 101ps as Indigo XL Grand Petrol and the new Diesel variant has the same DICOR engine with 70ps power as Indigo XL Grand Diesel. These versions are priced at Rs. 5.35 lakhs (Petrol) and Rs.6.15 lakhs (Diesel), ex-showroom Delhi.

In Classic version, features like wood trim interiors, new look AC fascia & instrument cluster, composite steering wheel, utility trays behind the seats, and a rear seat centre armrest with cup holders are kept similar to Grand. The rear seat still has the distinction of having the best rear seat inclination of 28.50 among all sedans and the best legroom. Also available are the rear AC console with separate control, a chiller tray in the glove box, and one touch power windows in the front and rear. The seats are now upholstered in premium fabric, and the front seats offer 6?? way manual adjustment along with lumbar adjustment.
Exterior features such as the dual beam clear lens headlamps, sleek tail lamps, front fog lamps, chrome embellishments on the satin painted front grille, electrically operated outer rear view mirrors with blinkers are standard.
Some goodies which are available in the top end variant i.e. the Indigo XL Grand which you will not get with Classic are the Leather seats, electronically adjustable front seats, Bluetooth connectivity feature, alloy wheels and some other knick-knacks. This car has the rear leg room that matches that of a Skoda Superb. Even the Grand was good but now the Classic is more value for money. Such a big car at Rs.5.35 lakhs, well, what else can we get in that price?? Well done TATA.

Hi all,
I am planning to buy a car in thr range of 5-6L on road. Have been doing a lot of research of cars in this range and little above and below. Earlier found that Indigo Marina was very good, with its features and price. But now, having looked at XL (classic petrol) and read about its features, I am enthralled. It is just stunning. With just 6L on road (in Blr), it is the THE choice among mid-sized luxury cars. A real value for money. It is truely being called “India’s Limosine”.

I bought Indigo XL Classic petrol version in royal burgundy color. The car gives a luxurious feeling when I drive in it. The legroom at the back is the most important aspect which bowled me over as we are all tall people in the family. And all those cup holders and utility trays are a good addition for my toddler. A value for money car with all these conveniences.

I brought a Indigo XL Classic Diesel in July, I have been completely disappointed with the car, the car pulls to left, after 5 visits to service center at Wasan Chembur they have not been able to solve the same, There is oil leak from the engine, instead of acepting the fault they mislead me saying that updation is required, clutch of the car failed within 13000 kms, when I posted this to TATA Motors they had no answers: I strongly advice to avoid TATA Cars. After many follow up, TATA is not even ready to give any commitment on the car(very surprising).

I have bought a Indigo XL classic Dicor on Ist june 2006, and the day is my worst day when I took delivery of that God damn car. From that day for most of the time my car was with the dealers work shop for one or the other reason, and poor fellows at concorde motors, chennai trying hard to keep me out of their work shop for at least a fortnight. It is a common concept that CRDI engines are refined and frugual, but my XL Dicor eigine sounds like a farm tractor engine. I would like to suggest Mr. Ratan Tata, to ask their engineers and top brases at Tata motors, to atleast satisfy their premium car buyers, and to respect them that they chose to buy their products. At the most I would like to say one thing to Mr. Tata, that he should not relay on Tata Motors engineers in fulfiling his dreams of to be a number one automobile company of our country.
