Honda announces details of new hybrid vehicle
May 22, 2008 – 11:44 am by Charles Pennefather
Honda has announced more details about the small hybrid vehicle slated for launch next year. An official name and the rest of the details will be revealed sometime later this year.
Honda’s most affordable hybrid to date will have weight reduced wherever possible and a significant cost reduction in Integrated Motor Assist components. The vehicle will be a dedicated hybrid, and will be offered as a 5-door hatchback and will possess styling cues from the FCX Clarity fuel cell car. The car will be a petrol/electric hybrid, and will be produced at the same facility in Suzuka, Japan, as the Civic hybrid.
The vehicle is expected to have annual global sales of 200,000 units per year. Other small hybrid cars that will be launched from the Honda stable are the Jazz hybrid and the CR-Z coupe. We hope that either of the small hybrids makes it to India – an affordable small hybrid car? Now there’s a dream car for many in this country.
