Skoda India Launches Super-Hatch Fabia
January 10, 2008 – 9:15 am by Banwari Lal SharmaUpdate: Skoda has launched Fabia now. The car is available in 5-8 lakh price range. Two engines (1.4L MPI petrol, 1.4L PD TDI diesel) are offered in a total of four trim levels i.e. Active, Classic, Ambiente and Elegance. Dealers are provided the prices of three diesel (Classic, Ambiente and Elegance) and one petrol version (Elegance) only.
For more information, please visit Skoda Fabia research page.
Posted on 31st October 2007: Fabia’s launch date is postponed to early next year. Skoda Auto India will showcase the car in 2008 Auto Expo to be held in New Delhi (10 to 17 January). Even if Skoda launches the car in January, delivery would be started in February only.
Posted on 16th February 2007:
When to expect: September-November 2007
Estimated Price: Rs.5-6.75 Lakh
In 2002, first time I heard about Skoda Fabia’s Indian launch. Since then Skoda has been postponing its launch year by year. 2007 has just started and so have the dreams of Fabia’s arrival in India. Latest news is, Fabia can be launched in India anytime after first half of the year.

New Skoda Fabia has got seven engine options, however, India will get maximum three i.e. 1.2L Petrol, 1.4L Petrol and 1.4L Diesel. Among these three too, 1.4L Petrol is very unlikely. 1.2L (1198cc), 3-cylinder, 12V Petrol engine produces 70ps of power and 123Nm of torque. 1.4L (1422cc), 3-cylinder, 12V TDI Diesel engine produces 80ps of power and 195Nm of torque. Though neither of the engine is class-leading in power/performance, they are powerful enough to give you wonderful drive. Diesel engine is 3-cylinder version of Laura’s engine and is a little noisy like its bigger sibling. Last but not least, both Petrol and Diesel engines are quite fuel efficient.

Skoda Fabia is far bigger than any hatchback in India hence is hugely spacious in cabin as well as in boot. Standard boot is of 300 liters, if rear seat is folded, it can be extended to 1100+ liters. Fabia has ample legroom at front, knee-room at rear and head-room at front/rear. Goodies available as standard will be more than adequate too. Overall, a highly desirable hatch.
Well, if Fabia really comes to India, consider it as revolution in Indian B+ car segment. No car in India is able to match what Skoda Fabia is about to offer. It can be considered as India’s first truly premium hatchback. With Fabia, India is bound to have world-class styling, luxury, technology and safety features. If rightly priced, this highly sturdy, hot hatch will sell like hot cakes.

I THINK THAT FABIA IS VERY NICE AND A VERY GOODLOOKING HATCH.THE ONLY THING I DONT LIKE ABOUT IT IS I THINK ITS LACK OF POWER IN SEGMENT.I WANNA KNOW THAT THE POWER OF ITS 1.4 L PETROL ENGINE IS THERE ANYONE WHO CAN TELL THAT TO ME?

By raju on Feb 18, 2007
Keepin my fingers crossed for this Hatchback Beast…..
By Chuchan on Feb 18, 2007
well, the sedan would stay the older version, at least for a while, which means it may not come to india at all. The 1.4L Petrol would be around 88Ps max.
By Nipun on Feb 19, 2007
This car seems to be an gr8 and good looking. Hope it going to be lead in the market. Would like to know when it going to wheel out in the indian roads.

It would be interesting to see how they price this car in hatchback segment, ??cause if it touches 7lks then ppl might go for a bigger car like city, verna, fiesta than to a hatchback.
By Biprajit on Feb 23, 2007
skoda cars are most beautiful cars in the world. It has power.I thinks fabia is most powerful hatcback.

i have been using the skoda fabia in the UK for a few years now. its an excellent car ( i have the diesel btw) and the car keeps going…and going…and going…
skoda india needs to make its dealers more responsive and trained better…asset auto in Poona is SLOPPY!
the car is good, the brand has immense value and pricing needs to be more competitive for skoda to compete with ford / hyundai better !

wel, skoda has done a mistake that they are launching this car after Maruti Swift, this look same as Swift and doen’t leave more marks than Swift
everybody knows how reliable Maruti is in India than anyother brand
secondly the price factor, in India people see the benefits and pocket rather than going for the brand
SKODA SHOULD THING AGAIN ON PRICE BEFORE LAUNCHING
By pankaj saini on Mar 7, 2007
As far as Skoda is concerned,m not satisfied with d looks of fabia…
Skoda Laura is the best look, comfort, passion & price too…
SKODA was not supposed to launch a small car, as the company was well known for the luxury..
if anybdy having any doubt about my statement then do have a test ride of LAURA !!!
By Bhup$ on Mar 7, 2007
The feedback about this vehicle is very good and will be giving another option in the range of Rs 5-7 lacs Diesel vehilce. Will be market leader in times to come

To skoda owners,
please produce any big car of skodain diesel in india that has big power that having more mileageand more pick up also[not very costly]medium price limits 8-10 lakhs. produce small cars also. interior of skoda cars are very good. so,i hope that skoda company produce good cars in imdia.I hope you accept our suggestion.
By sajal on Mar 14, 2007
Look wise matching with Swift.Lack of power.Ample space for leg may be there but what about price? Its better one should go for VERNA, FIESTA or Esteem just putting little effort on pocket. Hyundai is launching SANTRO-TWIN/P-A(Model between santro and GETZ and price from 4lacs) later this year. Seeing price and look I don’t think they can make there market. Anyway Best of luck to SKODA FABIA
By Sanjeev Sharma on Mar 16, 2007
The new Fabia is a stunner! Looks are great, interiors amazing, fuel efficiency miles ahead & build quality - there is no match. However, company should price it correctly if it really wants to sell volumes of it in India. The ideal price range should be 4.5 - 5.5 lakh. Its useless to buy a hatchback beyond this range even if it is a new Fabia.
By Ravi on Mar 21, 2007
i have seen skoda fabia in colombo, it is exactly a look alike of lets say swift. its like skoda octavia cut into half and made a hatch back model. just like our very own indigo.. an extended version of indica.
nothing great about it exterior wise.
By NIRAV SHAH on Mar 21, 2007
Can anyone with good corporate espionage skills please find out the most probable ex-showroom price of Skoda Fabia hatchback when launched? The range mentioned on the net swing wildly between as low as 4.0 to as high as 6.5 . Please help. A poor man’s itch to travel on classy four wheels depends you gentlemen and ladies’ reply. Is it worth waiting for Fabia or should a Swift/Santro XO right away be the way to go?
By Harry on Mar 22, 2007
hi skoda is sexy but i am waiting for fabia for past 6 months any 1 as idea abt its launching plz mail me arun_babl2006@yahoo.co.in
By Arun on Mar 24, 2007
As per Business Line dated 25th March, 2007, the Fabia should be priced between 6 and 7 Lacs, in which case, they will be helping others cars in the segment, Swift diesel and the soon to be launched Getz prime, sell really well. It would not be worthwhile going for a car which is about 40 % costlier than the competition, considering that the only thing extra that you get will be a Skoda badge !
By Manoj KC on Mar 26, 2007
can u plz tell me its only in fabiahatch back or they realising even in fabiasedan model
By raju on Mar 27, 2007
Good in looks, huge in space,It is basically a luxury hatchback. Good for Indian roads but bit tough for Indian pocket.
By Ramesh on Mar 28, 2007
IT IS SAME LIKE SWIFT . THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS IT IS MORE EXPENCIVE. I DONT THINK THIS COMPANY WILL SALE EVEN A SINGLE CAR IN INDIA.DO U THINK WE R FOOLS.
U R MAKING US APRIL FOOL.

Will Fabia be launched with an auto box???? especially in the diesel version????
By Rohit on Apr 19, 2007
I hope you sound true to launch this year at least.
By HARISH on Apr 25, 2007
very much similar to the swift. anyway SKODA is anyday any time better than MARUTI.would love to own it, if price comensurates features.
By atanu laik on Apr 26, 2007
Yes the SKODA FABIA is truly a dream machine with its dropjaw looks. The pricing needs to be penetrative to sweep the market off its feet. It would leave competition gasping for breath if I may say so !! Its a clean winner amongst all hatchbacks with the Getz alone coming close to it. the SWIFT is far far way behind in terms of dashing looks and stunning design. Hats off to SKODA. Well done guys !!

Engine:
Two variants of diesel and petrol are likely to be offered in india (since only engines under 1500cc for diesel and 1200cc for petrol falls under the tax band of 16%). These engines are already available in Romania and Czech market. Engines will be borrowed from Skoda roomster-another successful model from Skoda, for Fabia.
Mileage figure in Czech by similar vehicles
Diesel engines:
1.4TDI PD/51 KW ??-18.4kpl
1.4TDI PD/59KW ??-19.1kpl
Petrol engines:
1.2 HTP/44KW ???? N.A
1.2 HTP/51 KW ????14.7kpl
Very important for India (and for Skoda) will be the smallest of these engines offered. The three-cylinder 1198cc 12-valve petrol engine puts out 60bhp but this engine??s 11.4kgm of torque at a low 3000rpm. The 1422cc turbo-diesel will be Skoda trump card though. A three-cylinder version of the Laura??s PD motor, it puts out an impressive 79bhp and an even more impressive 19kgm@ 2000rpmof torque which can be matched only by Maruti swift. So it will go head-on with the Swift diesel, Tata indica and the soon-to-be-launched Getz diesel.
To be competitive apart from the performance and pricing, Skoda has to improve its customer satisfaction (it occupies 9th rank in JD power CSI study) before this launches.
Design:
According to Skoda, new Skoda Fabia will be of 3992 mm in length (well under 4000mm to enjoy tax sops) 1642 mm in breadth and 1498 mm in height Fabia is largest in its class. The effectively usable space offers the occupants more space both in the front seats and in the rear. The boot has a basic capacity of 300 litres as against 232 litres in Maruti swift and, when the rear seats of Fabia are folded down, it will increase to 1163 litres.
The world car got the opportunity to ride the new generation Fabia has come up with following facts.
???The design of the new Fabia expresses clearly emotional characteristics. The fresh design with its strongly accentuated radiator grille, the integrated headlights which are both dynamic and harmonious, and the sideline which expresses both agility and value combine to make the new Skoda stand out clearly from its competitors. This is achieved by means of the white roof, available on request, and the four different wheel designs in the programme. The space is exceptionally generous in spite of its compact measurements and, in the rear; the amount of headspace provided is impressive. The ergonomic seat position for the driver is a matter of course in the new Fabia, while the higher position of the seats affords a better view of the bonnet and also makes entering and leaving more comfortable. The new Fabia offers more space for knee and foot space for all occupants, setting new standards in travelling comfort. Numerous functional improvements have been realised in the interior. The operating elements for the ventilation and the audio unit have been set high up in the centre console. This makes it possible to operate them without being distracted from what is happening in traffic?”.
The highlights of the new Skoda Fabia :
? Large boot with a capacity of from 300 to 1163 litres
? Above-average legroom for all passengers
? The best headroom for rear passengers in the small car class
? Choice of different engines
? Integrated six-CD autochanger (option)
? Two-tier boot cover-which can be installed at two different heights increasing the flexibility and functionality of the boot.
? Curve halogen projector headlights (option)
? Cornering front fog-lights (option)
? Seven different wheel designs, four steel and three alloy
? Diesel particle filter for the 1.4 TDI PD/59 kW and 1.9 TDI PD/77 kW diesel engines
? Attractive rear lights in Skoda??s trademark C-shape
? Higher seat positions for driver and front passenger that afford a better view and more comfortable access
In the rear, a child??s seat can be affixed with a top-tether belt which limits the forward movement of the upper part of the child??s seat in the event of a head-on collision.
Price:
Fabia may be priced at around in the price band of 4.5-6lakhs (10-15 percent more than the Getz). What you will get for the premium will be quality levels previously unheard of in this segment, plenty of interior space and solid European build and safety. The Fabia is sure to give Hyundai getz and Maruti swift a few sleepless nights at the very least. It is certainly ahead of the game when it comes to interior space, quality and choice of engines

Hey going by the info rleft by Sanjeev Sharma my spirits about skoda fabia stand dampened. I feel now that with a budget of Rs 4.5 lacs i would be able to acquire one. A mileage of 14 kmpl is also a deterrinh info as every one was saying that it would give something around 18 kmpl.
Any way let the thingie arrive..we shall take a close look at its real time performance to judge it better…especially under Indian weather and driving conditions and Indian roads to be HONEST.

Fabia is neat car seen in europe & s.america but not very economical compared to “getz” & other smaller cars in the same segment

It is good Idea by Skoda but very difficult to beat Maruti suzuki Swift (diesel).
The cost will be main factor in this segment because Hyundai Gets is also comming in diesel verson.

As coming up to the new concept of cars in India , i beleive that Skoda in pulling the the market at a anoynomous speed. It has variants as others but comparing it makes the people go wild …. now we can see the New Skoda Fabia….which is hitting the market in the coming Oct.07′. as per the features ITS all in one . but what matters is the mileage which is the main issue in running of cars in India. i beleive that the Company had gone deep in the matter of mileage. so good luck Fabia … we love u.

By devol nath on Jun 20, 2007
It will be good to see Fabia in India; even I am from all above who are waiting for this car to be launched in India and the Prince the most important factor for India byres. But if it is priced between 4.5-6L it worth baying this machine. I think this car is beyond competition. Does anyone have idea of how it is comparable with Ford Fusion in terms of price and specs, Ford is also launching diesel version of Fusion soon.
By Ravi on Jun 21, 2007
its happy to hear that the launch of new fabia a premium hatch from the gr8 skoda. but the engine and looks is very similar to suzuki swift. in this case price will be a prime factor. so price should also made similar at least in the base variant; unless it wont take on suzuki swift in the market

HI Everybody,
Keen to know when it is going to launch? I think everybody is waiting for this car.
Hope seeing the competition Skoda -Fabia is going to compete with SWIFT, U-VA, GETS so price-wise I think it will be between 4.0-5.0L will good enough.
More than this (if it is 6L and plus) than better to have sedan.
Till than keep your finger crossed.
If anybody has some news about launching then plz share.

It has been expected for a while but no one knew just when the Skoda Fabia would finally come to India.
Now it seems there??s a definite plan to roll out the famed small car in India by the end of this year.
At the launch of Skoda India??s Jaipur dealership recently, Karsten Bogun, managing director (commercial) of Skoda India announced that the Fabia would be part of Skoda??s new aggression in the Indian market.
The hatchback, if it does come, will be positioned in the premium hot hatch segment alongside models like the Swift, Aveo U-VA and Getz.
The sedan should be attractively priced depending upon the level of localisation that the project manages to achieve. Experts say the price aggression is likely given that the company is targetting sales of around 17,000 units this calendar year which works out to around1500-1600 car per month. So far Skoda has sold 43,000 cars in the last five years.
If the hatch does come, Skoda will likely tinker with the length to meet the small car requirements mandatory for tax rebates in India.
The engine size too should be either 1.2 litre or 1.4 litre to qualify for the lower excise tax. The pricing of the sedan could be around Rs 6-7 lakh while the hatch may hover around the Rs 5-6 lakh range.
However Skoda officials say the pricing has not been fixed and the final tag may well be more or less aggressive depending on the positioning of the vehicle.

Hi Everyone,
What I read in The Telegraphindia, calcutta I am sharing with you.
Skoda to launch Fabia by year-end
Ahmedabad/New Delhi, June 27 (PTI):
Czech auto firm Skoda will roll out its first compact car ?? the Fabia ?? in the country by the year-end.
??We are planning to launch the car by the end of this year. The Fabia is well accepted globally and with our experience in the car business, we are confident of receiving a similar response from the Indian customers as well,? Skoda India managing director (commercial) Karsten Bogun said.
Although Bogun did not reveal the price of the car, the Fabia was likely to come with a premium tag and would be placed above the Maruti Swift and the Hyundai Getz that cost between Rs 4-5 lakh. In the last five years, Skoda India has sold over 43,000 units, including luxury sedan Octavia. This year, the company has set a sales target of 17,000 units. The company has a plant in the Aurangabad district of Maharashtra.
??Skoda India is glad to bring two new dealerships at Vadodara and Ahmedabad in Gujarat. We do believe these dealerships will play a vital role in increasing our customers in Gujarat and will also help us achieve a bigger market here,? Bogun said. He said the company planed to expand its dealer network to 58 across the country by the end of this year.

Hi
If Gagan Bhatia has made some correspondence with a senior Skoda employee and he said the price of the diesel model will be between 5-6 lacs?.
Than the petrol version will cost in between 4,25-4,80L as diesel version cost 70-95 thousands more than petrol.
And he said they??ll be releasin it by 2007 end…..
Thanx for your valuable information.
Rest depends upon SKODA PEOPLE.

I believe that skoda’s pricing should be much more competitive to match with the other hatch back cars specially in India.
If there is a little bit of difference on pricing then its very difficult for skoda to sell the nos. they expect to do before the launch.
Swift diesel is something which is making a mark and anything priced above this would be like creating a push for buyers to go for swift.
Hope Skoda does something gud on this point

HI, I understood SKODA FABIA is comming lots of guys are dancing in excitement…
I am planning to buy a diesel vehicle, obvious choice are at present Swift Diesel, ..but I am waiting for Getz Diesel..now I believe I do have an another choice comming…
AS I AM AN AUTOMOBILE DOMAIN PERSON i have A DOUBT. worked FOR LEADING german auto industry,
But here is a major question :
1. Swift DDIS (Diesel) is a Common rail Diesel Injection engine. and ths the latest technology in car revolution… Now, as peoples wrote Fabia 1.4 TDi … my doubt whether its simple diesel with Turbo as like indica V2 Turbo or like new GEts or present swift a lightning CRDI.

Hi Raz & Everbody
SMALL CARs in 2009
TOYOTA———–
Is going to launch YARIS(Hatchback)and be the base for Indian small car and planning to launch the car in the retailing market by 2009 in INDIA.
VOLKSWAGEN——-
To launch a POLO variant in India and is expected to be launched sometime in 2009.
MITSUBISHI——-
Is seriously thinking for its debut in small car segment. It may choose ‘i’ for its entry and this car is less than 3.4 metres long and 1.48 metres wide Because of clever engineering it has ample space for four.
FORD————-
May introduce small car for India on its popular hatches ‘KA ‘ or ‘Mazda 2.
These variant are to be expected to be rolled out early 2008 in Europe may be available in India in 2009.
Ford’s KA suits best for indian market.
Cheers!

Skoda fabia has postponed its launch to january 10th 2008 (auto expo 2008) and might be priced between 4.5-6 lakh.
The car is going to priced between 6-7 lakh by news.tecwhack, but according to Business-standard.com and Fordindia.blogspot.com the car is in the range of Rs 5-6 lakh.
Skoda auto chairman Detlef Wittig told Indian journalists on the sidelines of the Frankfurt motor show that the company would launch Fabia in the price band of Rs 5 - 6 lakh, in Petrol and Diesel variants.
Production will begin by the end of October this year and the company will have 500 cars ready by the time of the launch. The company plans to produce 20,000 units of Fabia in the first year.

From skoda dealer
They said thatSkoda India would finally launched their much awaited Fabia model in the Indian market in January next year.
It would retail for somewhere around Rs. 5-6 lakhs though it is not yet confirmed.
By Sanjeev Sharma on Sep 28, 2007
Fabia appears to be a good car but if the company wants
to market it successfully , has to -
make the ground clearance at-least 170 mm and enlarge
the number of sales and service points or to appoint
the licencee sales and service agents in hot but un-
represented area like Patna (Bihar) .
Any repply please ?

Dear Mr. Nanda,
The data provided here (i.e. prices, specifications etc) is based on speculations. It might or might not be same when the car is actually launched. I understand that you have been waited for Fabia for last 10 months but I can assure you this time that the car will be in showrooms in January-February 2008.
By Banwari on Nov 1, 2007
Skoda Fabia looks fantastic… but the price wise is lil higher when compared to haybatch cars (swift, getz, U-VA) if its so high it would be difficult to catch Indian market. It would be like SRV. though the launching would be in Jan 08 and the car would hit the roads in Feb 08. They have to consider Pricing prior to launch of vehicle. When Fabia haybatch hits the market with high price and later reducing the price does not make sense.

It sound great. We have great hopes,as this will be small but biger strudy car other than usual Japnies or Korean ones.
Scoda’s engine are from VW (as I konw) and known for fuel economy.
Ihave used Audi80, & Jetta. Both are fabulous where only company in product monograph officialy claimed fuel economy of 22km/L in Diesal @ 80Km/Hr!!!
If priced proprly will do very well. But should not do like Ford fusion. That’s only Worry.

I have seen the Fabia in Belgium and the engine sounds horrible. Some of the features which comes as standard in Europe is not required here in India. Air bag and ABS. Kindly plan features accordingly so that the customer will get the PRICE benefit. Electrically controlled side Mirror,Tubeless tyre, less noise in Engine,Keeping a folder for the Lap Top,Digital Dash board, Keyless entry and remote control release of boot, climatic contorlled AC can be considered in the feature. With the budjetory benefit to Diesel version car with less than 4m length and 1500cc, i request the marketing team to pass the benefit to the customer in the Price tag. More than 6Lac for hatch back in Inida, the customer will think twice.
By Reggie Mathew on Nov 19, 2007
I think fabia is gonna b a hell of a car bt price wch is gonna let fabia down?wt u say
By Naveen Hastir on Nov 22, 2007
I think anything over 7 Lacs for higher end model is expensive. The other cars in the premium hatchback segment are at the max 6Lacs for the higher end(ie Swift and Getz).
I don’t mind paying an additional 1Lac for the quality and extra goodies that are offered in the Fabia european models.
If the Skoda can bring the quality in this segment then it is worth paying an additional 1Lac more for this car.
By Satish on Nov 23, 2007
Fabia looks fantastic. I saw it in Internatioanl Motor show in Frankfurt. I am really looking forward to see it in India. According to some speculation it is going to launch on 26th Jan. But if the Europian and Indian model are same then folks believe me its a fantastic car.

I feel Skoda Fabia is one of the Superb Car. Pricing shld be competetive to Swift and Getz
By Prashanth on Dec 18, 2007
Seeme to be very nice car in that segment. Price should be competative with Getz and Swift
By Prashanth on Dec 18, 2007
Due to the launch of skoda fabia in India, the three waiting of Maruti Swift Diesel has gone.
Suzuki and Hyndai has lost their sleep. There must be competition. I was to take Maruti Swift Diesel, But now I am waiting for Skoda Fabia. The name it self tell its quality.

Awaiting for your comments and feedback
Cheers.

yes the car with these specifications looks overpriced. diesel variant in 6-7 lacs bracket sounds preety expensive.i would rather go in for something like honda city in that range.

skoda fabia has been generating so much hype. I did book for preview on http://www.fabiafeelspecial.com I am also sending video for the contest. If I win fine. Else I am decided already on which variant to go in for
By dilip dev on Dec 29, 2007
Skoda has had put up this wonderful website
http://www.fabiafeelspecial.com Saw the salient features. Its designed to fulfil typical indian needs. Comfort seating for all four occupants. Gud kneroom & legroom in front & back. And for the safety, airbags. Will win hands down.
By Tejas Tolia on Dec 29, 2007
Škoda Fabia hatchback is among the largest in its class. The effectively usable space offers the occupants more space both in the front seats and in the rear. The boot has a basic capacity of 300 litres, and, when the rear seats are folded down, increases to 1163 litres
By Vinayak on Dec 29, 2007
It looks like a super mini. And valua for your money lies in:
Cabin space is very generous with room for four adults and plenty of luggage/shopping/school bags (delete as appropriate). The seats also fold flat for Saturday afternoon trips to Shopping mall. As for kit, there is more on this car than expected You will have electric windows, climate control, a six-disc CD changer with an auxiliary lead for MP3 players, 16-inch alloy wheels and black metallic paint.
You have a luxury car without spending on any add ons.
By Varun Maru on Dec 29, 2007
Price band for fabia is 5 to 7.75 lacs. When excatly the deliveries would start? With March 31 deadline quite close, wonder what kind of bookings have come in and wheteher there would be a long wait list.
By naman menon on Dec 29, 2007
I hv taken test drive of Skoda Fabia on 27th. Its a superb state-of-the-art Car with outstanding features, unheard even in C class cars. Engine is noiseless, features, Seating, driving is a treat. I hv tested all peer group cars, but this is so special. I booked two cars instantly for me and my brother-in-law. We sold our Alto and Corsa immediately. Once 1L car of Tata comes, second hand car selling will become very tough.
My verdict is strongly in favour of Fabia. Thanks to Skoda for introducing such a car. You may visit following internation site.It gives better panorama of Car

I am seeing lot of buzz abt auto expo with major launches by Skoda, Tatas, Mahindras. I do read lot of stuff on net. Even write a post/comment at times. But at the end of the day I have no tension, no excitement. I amdecided on fabia for the love of it. even visited http://www.fabiafeelspecial.com for the heck of it.

By reuban on Dec 29, 2007
Thanks Neelmani. Congrats. Wahts the delivery date? Have you seen http://www.fabiafeelspecial.com?
By naman menon on Dec 30, 2007
Hey Reuban, I agree if costs are reduced fabia would be a major success but I differ that it would be a flop if not reduced. Yaar, people do understand the quality part. Anyone ready to spend 5 lacs plus would be ready to shell little more to get much more
By vinit chaddha on Dec 30, 2007
I saw http://www.fabiafeelspecial.com Its a gud gimmick. Fabia will win hands down in any case. It will show Indian what a world class hatchback is?
By Ajay Savani on Dec 30, 2007
I have been recommended to purchase skoda fabia. Also saw http://www.fabiafeelspecial.com But will some one tell me what is the difference between a Hatchback & Sedan?
By Lalit Nirupam on Dec 30, 2007
What Ruben says is true. If the prices are low fabia will storm the market.
By Julian Facho on Dec 30, 2007
How the booking for Fabia can start if the prices are going to be announced only during the launch? Even your http://www.fabiafeelspecial does not explain prices
By Adinath Kumble on Dec 30, 2007
Every manufacture highlites only own plus points in comparisons. Is there a neutral body which would tell us real hard facts? I have liked fabia, seen http://www.fabiafeelspecial.com but all the same I wonder.
By Rakesh Mantri on Dec 30, 2007
Skoda fabia, the world class hatchback has all that it takes to make it world class. In such a case does it matter if it costs little more than competition?
I want people to pen down their comments.
Will you please oblige?
By kanta bhatija on Dec 30, 2007
I talked to the Skoda dealer in Mumbai and Pune - The dealers will reveal pricing and test-drive models only from Jan 09. It seems a great car, however I am really surprised at the bookings already WITHOUT test-driving the actual car.
People are booking a 7-lac car without even touching it, test driving it and without knowing its true price. It seems that people have been sold by the marketing/advert blitz and the buzz that a new car creates.
To each his own I guess …
By Vish J on Dec 31, 2007
I am not surprised by comments from Vish J. I have Skoda loyalis friends. They swear by it. Only refrain from them is the need for Skoda to spruce up their service network
By Rajni Seth on Dec 31, 2007
Largest selling cars in India are hatchbacks and fabia is the ultimate considering its pedigree, performance assurances, styling, luxury, safety. Even if the final pricing is higher a decerning buyer would not think twice.
By Hemant Gariba on Dec 31, 2007
Appah! atlast, after all those postpones, Skoda is finally releasing its Fabia in the 2008 Delhi Auto Expo, and we are going to love it. I know i am a little late but still, they will be placed above the Swift, where competition will begin in 2008 with the launch of Hyundai I30, Honda Jazz, Toyota Yaris, Ford Fusion and more expected to come.
In the meantime, http://www.fabiafeelspecial.com provides a good preview of things to com
By Hemant Gariba on Dec 31, 2007
Fabia is unmistakably Skoda.Trade mark front grille, trepezoidal headlamps, bonnet ridges, robust build, boxy rear. Its minimalistic Skoda designed to give great performance at respectable prices.
By Jehangir Noorani on Dec 31, 2007
Every hatchback is a compromise on space, comfort and driving pleasure. Fabia, however scores on others in all three departments. Generous on space, luxurious and driver’s pleasure. It is natural to be priced slightly higher
By Ganesh Gaekwad on Dec 31, 2007
Head on, the Fabia is unmistakably Skoda - the trademark front grille, the stocky build, the trapezoidal headlamps, the bonnet ridges that divide it into three… The Fabia’s origins are more German, actually, and it is based on the Volkswagen Polo platform, which speaks volumes for its safety standards and build.
The rear is square and boxy and overall the car looks pretty plain Jane. The hatch looks smashing, but thanks to our new small car rules Skoda have had to take this one back to the drawing board and get it under the 4000mm mark. It will make its way here in good time.
By Lekhraj Kapur on Dec 31, 2007
Skoda fabia is a dream come true for those who can not afford higher end skodas and believe in its quality commitments
Let’s hope it lives upto the hype.
By Vrinda Khadbadi on Dec 31, 2007
Come one come all. This is the car scene in India. Buyers, buyers & buyers everywhere. All sorts of cars are in the fray. In the end only those who deliver value for money will survive. Fabia would be one amongst them. It is affordable and trustworthy

Entry level Diesel Varient is tagged at 6.5L+/-5k.Top varient 7.1L+/-10k.+insurance+rto. Petrol varient has not arrived till date. Dealer said that prize of petrol will commence fm 5L onwards and 30-40k difference between each model. So presuming that top model is expected to cost 6L+ins+rto ie 6.6L. Fair enough!!Skoda diesel engine is slightly noisy but they claim an average of 20 in city and 25 on highway..

Fabia sure looks like a promising car to me. I was very much looking forward to buy one until I got to see the specs. It sure is loaded with lot of features, some of them not so useful as well. On Indian roads the ground clearance of 146 mm is not acceptable at all. Just a comparison Maruti 800 has a ground clearance of 170 mm

bad all these comments are written by the same person.the english used here is so pathetic, you just know that he is trying to cook up comments but sad his english is not getting any better.as far as fabia is concerned(if any one is looking for authentic reveiws)this car is not the same second generation fabia launched worldwide.india is still a dumping ground for the rest of the world the nouveau rich have the money but you just dont buy a hatchback that costs 7.75lacs,there are better premium sedans you can buy like the city & the rest dont even think about the 1.2l petrol its worst than the uva.fan club phew! what the hell is going on?
By karan on Jan 5, 2008
Karan, English Bad or Right, look for the free flow of expression of thoughts, opinions which should hel[p us to firm up or aid our buying decision, particularly in a expensive venture like Fabia Buying. This becomes more relevant in these times, as we have crooked car dealers all around (honest dealers are a rare breed like your English writing abilities) who do not reveal everything to the innocent buyer. At the same breath, let us also acknowledge, that readers cannot be taken for granted & any one can easily smell any tricks like the one you have mentioned.

We will be able to get clarity on color availability by 8/9th.I interacted with one GM dealer y-day while taking test drive of Magnum optra. They said Skoda is ok, but maintainance is very costly.3-9k charges for one servicing. Even availabilty of tyres and getting another key takes 2-3 months. I hope these things are taken care off by skoda.
Please do respond, if any one has taken test drive of Petrol 1.2/1.4L Fabia.

I agree about sluggishness & cost of Skoda service. But the Skoda dealer in Andheri says that so far they were dealing with only top end clients where number was small and hence higher costs. He says need for cost effective & agile service back up has been factored in while working out the marketing/after sales plans

AutoCar magzine-Jan Edition front cover says Skoda’s super hatch in a class of its own. AutoCar Verdict is 9/10 to Skoda Fabia. It gives 10 star to build strength and quality, 9 to safety, comfort, ride handling, 7 to performance, refinement and value.Fuel Efficiency is 9 on 10 wih 18.5 km on highway. they took 750km test drive…don’t miss the review..

By Justin cohello on Jan 7, 2008
I think Skoda Fabia will flop not because it is good car, it is world-class car but because of poor managment of Skoda India Pvt. Ltd. According to me they have already delayed launch of Fabia by 6 months and now there is confusion about avilability of all models and long waiting period for delivery. Nowdays there is much hype about this car in the market so they have to cash this hype by providing enough stock of cars to delers. It will do good not only to Skoda India but also to skoda-lovers-customers like me. Even best product need good marketing and managment for best results.
By nipun_best on Jan 8, 2008
Justin’s point must be taken in seriousness by Skoda India. There is so much hype in the air about Fabia. Hope they will not let down skoda loyalists.

pricing is in range of 4.99-7.68 for Skoda Fabia. Four Models in petrol and Diesel currently planned. Immediate available option will be 1.4TDI(68bhp) Diesel in Active,Classic, Elegence and Ambient and 1.4 (85bhp) MPI Petrol. Milage claimed is 21 for diesel and 17 for petrol..
By Sanjay Khimesara on Jan 9, 2008
I have just attended lanuch party of Skoda Fabia in Surat and I am very disappointed to know there is no 1.2L model avilable until June. Only 1.4L diesel engine is avilable for display and there is no 1.4L petrol variant avilable for dispaly. And they are not sure about prices and delivery period till now. It’s very disappointing. And I think prices are also higher side accoriding to their suggested prize.
By nipun_best on Jan 9, 2008
Very disVery disappointing by the Skoda people. Poor marketing, even the dealer were not yet confirmed the prices.
Good advertisement watched yesterday on zeetv.
Failed to understand why they introduced 1.4 earlier than 1.2. and moreover that is Diesel model in most of the parts.
Lower model priced too high and higher model 7.28. Better go for sedan car.
When their marketing is so poor then what will be going to happen with other things
By sanjeev sharma on Jan 10, 2008
Yes, Indeed very disappointing from Dealers reg clarity on models and prices. Even they took booking without confirming anything and now it seems appearent that petrol version of 1.2 and 1.4 is not available/nor clarity on dates of availability. Sorry state of affairs at Skoda. I don’t know how they will compete in market with such high premium and poor approach..
By Sanjay Khimesara on Jan 10, 2008
Sanjeev: Aren’t we happy? Suspense abt pricing is gone. Affordable prices will give boost to fabia
By nikita bhatt on Jan 10, 2008
Hi Nikita,
I don’t think so bcos
1. Middle class people prefer vehicle which is low in price having all necessary options. Options are Swift and Uva.
Old palio & Getz failed due to its high price comparative to swift and UVA though the vehicle were good.
2. High class that is above middle class they prefer sedan cars.
Fiesta,Accsent, lancer
3. Vey hihg they go for Hiher versions Accord sonata, Mercd and BMW
4.Rest others they have the options of santro i10 palio.
So when you are putting your money i.e 7.8 lakhs for hatchback, it has no worth. Better one will go for sedan like fiesta and other model.
By sanjeev sharma on Jan 10, 2008
saare carwale surprised? Yes, with 4.99 lac fabia lots of cancellations of other cars will take place
By manoj aggarwal on Jan 10, 2008
Dear Sanjeev,
I totally agree with you. People go for skoda Cars ‘caz of its engineering and partly because of appeal value of skoda badge in society. For a Hatchback paying 8.0L + on road is not at all worth. Its better to go for Honda City or Ford Fiest or even Logan for better value for Money. Even Swift Diesel priced at 5.25 is superb value for money comparitively. We were more driven with emotional euphoria of skoda hype and its performance in eropean market. Practically its not wise to pay Rs.2L extra for Skoda brand name. You could easily get one Tata Nano extra in bonus with surplus.
I m for one highly disappointed. Their 5L base version will come after 4-5 months. Its a waste of time to wait for skoda. Indore dealer has not even given exact pricing despite y-day’s launch.
By Sanjay Khimesara on Jan 10, 2008
i guess after the fabia was launched and all the speculations have been put to rest.Agree that the site http://www.fabiafeelspecial.com is really fun to visit
By jiah shaikh on Jan 10, 2008
I think managment of Skoda is really confused or they don’t understand Indian people mentality. According to me they should first launch 1.2L petrol Fabia with 30 or 40 thousand rupees higher price then swift with good interiors and safety features and same for 1.4L diesel Fabia . It will make a good choice for customer. But spending 1 or 1.5 lac extra then swift doesn’t make sense.

By jameel khan on Jan 10, 2008
hey is the win fabia contest still goin on?
By sanju nadkarni on Jan 10, 2008
This is really non-sense marketing strategy. I was very excited to buy the fabia after a long wait. But, every time I tried to know the price, the sales guy/receptionist says that the price list would reach by evening, then by morning then again by evening. I was feeling as if I was waiting for my 10th std results.
If this kind of attitude has to prevail then why so much is being spent on ad media.
Come on skoda management… do something.Pls communicate to your customers clearly. You can not fool around people for a longer time.
This kind of attitude will not help you to sustain market share for a longer time.
By Kamesh on Jan 10, 2008
Confusion, Confusion .. about pricing, Models, performance!
Sanjay, Nipun - I am glad that you posted your concerns. I hope you haven’t booked your car yet.
Now, people are questioning if this is the same 2nd gen fabia that was launched in Europe.
Guys - How can you evaluate, opine and book a car without even touching, test driving it. It’s better to wait for the hype to settle down, drive it around for a while and judge if this is a good car for Indian conditions.
By Vish J on Jan 11, 2008
7.65 Lacs for a Hatchback!! Are you kidding me?? Skoda or no-Skoda; even BMW would think twice before launching a Diesel hatchback at that price in INDIA. You can put 50K more and buy a Honda City, think of that - a Honda City vs Skoda Hatchback with no clarity or pricing, colors, trims yet the dealer are greedy to accept your booking money.
By Ajay on Jan 11, 2008
I feel that skoda fabia is a good hatchback than any other car but if the top model ranges upto 7 lakhs than it wud be better to buy a h verna or h city. The price is most important factor that will effect the sale of skoda fabia in the market.well all the small cars in india like swift, getz, santro, etc. have nevr been priced more than five lakhs.it wud be more reliable to buy a sedan otherwise
By Rajneet on Jan 11, 2008
I live in the UK as an NRI. To answer Vish J query if this Fabia is the 2nd Gen Car…well, it is. It has already been launched here in the UK at the end of 2007. I have only seena few on the roads here but the choice and income people have here is vastly different to India. I have the 1st Gen Fabia and its an automatic. Its drives like an old tractor! I hate my Fabia. But it is a soild car and well built with parts from a VW bin. VW own Skoda. Anything owned by VW will be good quality. The UK motoring press liked the new 2nd gen Fabia but thought it was expensive compared to other similar competitors. Hope you will all find my commenst of use. Ask me anyhting about UK car market which might help for cars in India, purchase wise.
By Sudip on Jan 11, 2008
I took test drive of diesel classic varient and after satisfaction booked it. Car is undoubtably good compared to all available hatchback’s in India. As my usage is limited, i wanted to opt for Petrol Varient.I know that the average will be 10-15km/lt in petrol.Dealer took booking with committment of delivery by 15th.I estimated prize of top petrol varient to be 6L.
My issue is only on price clarity and timely delivery. 6L Car is quite close to 5.9L rates of Prime Getz of Hyundai..Features are really fascinating and unheard. Diesel is of course on higher side. If u only looking for performance then could opt for entry level Active model priced at 5.9L(Diesel). Fully loaded will be definately costlier.
I will buy only if they give timely delivery. Can’t wait for 4-5 months..
By Sanjay Khimesara on Jan 11, 2008
Hello Folks
Skoda Fabia looks fantastic. But i am very disappointed by the pricing and unavilabilty of the 1.2L Variant.
At the moment only 1.4D models (7.16L to 8.6L) are present in 3 segments and 1.4P top end model is present (7.5 Lacks)The pricing is in Pune.
There is no visibilty of the other two models in 1.4P variant and no visibilty of the 1.2 variant.
No one giving any information.
I am very disappointed.
If anyone of you have any information please do share with me. i had already booked Fabia 1 month ago and was eagerly waiting for this car. But looking at all these i am making my mind to cancel it.

looking at all the delivery issues abt fabia being mentioned here i wonder how come my dealer in mumbai is promising me delivery in feb for all variants.
By jignesh bhatt on Jan 11, 2008
Well, those who were waiting eagerly for Fabia are bound get disappointed due to it’s overpricing. 7.5 Lacs onroad value for a basic version is insane. Next models same engine option are going to cost 8.5 lacs and 9.25 lacs on road. No info on petrol version is available yet. (Bangalore details).
So, Skoda I think needs some miracle to sell these wowefully underpowered(69 hp) hatchback which is quite unrefined and doesn’t come with engine cover. Not to mention the pathetic and pocket piercing cost and quality of the service.
Was eagerly waiting for the launch and now utterly disappointed..:(

By Satish on Jan 12, 2008
Again SKODA has done the monumental mistake of taking the Indian car user for a jovial ride. It is a really crude joke of pricing a hatchback at such a fantastic price beyond the reach of a normal car buyer who wants to upgrade.
Like Most European /luxury car makers SKODA wants to serve the affluent & elite and is scared to think of upper middle class to have in its cliental. , who are now the main target of most carmakers here. Skoda will be happy with its FABIA being grabbed by the rich businessmen’s college going sons & our politician’s grandsons (sons already driving scorpia, crv, endeavor , Pajero XTRAIL & like).
All said & done, I bow to the beauty & awesome sight of Fabia (sans airbag that is pushing up prices) , but if they had also brought in the 1.2 petrol & showcased it, all of my anger & frustration wouldn’t been there. Also note how SKODA has carefully fed the all popular media with its one page color ad & how the media is singing in chorus that prices start from Rs 4.99 to Rs 7.99. Take it, the 1.2 Petrol will never come out. If anybody is dreaming 1.2 Pet will appear, please wake up & look elsewhere.
By RAKSWAMY on Jan 12, 2008
PLz Plz don’t put price tag of skoda fabia as lot of peoples who were waiting for fabia are increasing their Blood pressure and cursing Skoda management.
I unable to understand what they have done. India is the major hub of small car and fabia small car with sedan price. Wow what a thought and believe me it will remain a show piece in show rooms as FORD FUSION.
When you are competing with small car than compete it with having same or little more price not with double price. Simple thing whenever we buy anything always looks the price tag and when it is worth with that price then we goes ahead, otherwise next option.
Anyway All the best. I have cancelled my booking as skoda dealer NO NO NO aacha fool banaya mera (Fooled me lot). Thanx for this as my awareness increased now.(I think most of the people faced this problem)

I am realy surpriced with the pricing of the car that is the disel 1.4 its very noisy engine with no cover at idle it becomes so desturn=bing that you can not even listen to the music on the front seats with is its very noisy and highly priced car
scoda peole should do something to NAV levels in side as well as out side the car by putting some cover on the engine if and also give some good pricing. people are ready to pay for but with a subjectively good buy not for such low powered noisy engine. for the time being improvements are must for the engine. for now not a good option to buy
By CHETAN S K on Feb 2, 2008
Fabia is undoubtably most appropriate option for Hatchback lovers. Engine is slightly noisy, but not so much that it distracts. Prize is adequate due to features. For both of your problems, you may look for Petrol Version, wherein costing will be low and no noise engine option will be there.
I have been using Fabia for few days now.And to tell u, not only i like driving it, but it is catching attention of everyone daily. I get lots of queries by strangers about it. I am loving it!!

Excellent performance and unbeatable quality makes Fabia, the car of the year
By Geet on Feb 3, 2008
Fabia is absolutely an awesome car, I have had opportunity to test drive it. In Ahmedabad the basic model cost is about 6.67lakhs which is Rs20,000= less than Honda City. Anyday I would definitely prefer Honda City over Fabia for value for money. Fabia has been listed as small car in India, I don’t think the price speaks for it. This year the introduction of Fiat Grande Punto, Maruti Splash and Honda Jazz would definately make the competition stipper.

Had a Swift petrol before I got the Fabia and when compared to the pick up there is a very little bit of turbo lag for about a second and the turbo kicks in and you actually get pushed back to your seat..Thats a good feel trust me. The engine was noisy as most of you have written but it has quitened down, It is usually more noisy in the morning when I start it for the first time after about 10 min of driving its fine but there is one thing I must talk about here is the viberation…Friends there is nothing called as viberation in this car…In fact even at 140 km/hr (which I touched yesterday) there is NIL viberation…in fact its quiet.
Comming to what most of you people are speaking of…wWhy buy a car paying 7.5 Lacs (thats how much I paid in Bangalore for the base model) when you can get a 3 box car…Hell NO!!! The base version of any diesel car Fiesta or a Verna is 8 Lacs plus..thats a what U will pay for the boot of a car only…there is no air bag…no music system no rear wiper, defoger etc, I would say its not Fabia/ Skoda which is taking Indian customers for a ride its the other car manufactures…And for all who thought of it as a small car….Please visit the dealer again and sit in the rear seat….The space is good even comparable to a 3 box car…Trust me on this one…The boot is something ull luv for sure too. Milage I am getting is about 18kpl…Thats in city!!
OK folks Happy Motoring…Do post if there is any thing I can help you with
Regards
V

Vishnu,
Nice to note your review. Well I ‘m also driving Ambient Biege for almost 20+ days now. Its gem of a Car…Sturdy, No Viberations, Smooth ride, ease in handling..Compact yet spacious and above all having the state-of-the-art features not even offered by Sedan makers.

but will this beast be high to maintain?

well, the car as a whole is overpriced. I had a look and the interior space is nothing to write home about.. my Palio seems to be more spacious.
And as far as the dummy feel special website and contest goes, no results have been posted more than 18 days after the competition website rules say they should have been made public.
Seems to be a con job operating on more than one level here. Bad, Skoda, bad.
