Chevrolet Cruze launched; Beat spotted again
October 12, 2009 – 3:32 pm by Rachit HiraniChevrolet launched its new Cruze which is base on the 300 series Delta platform and is even called as the J300. The Cruze is available in two variants, LT and LTZ. The LT costs Rs 10.99lakh and LTZ costs Rs 12.45lakh (ex-showroom, Thane).
The Cruze has a 2.0-litre 150bhp diesel engine and the LTZ variant has PEPS (Passive Entry Passive Start) feature, which is a feature in most of the high end cars. Chevrolet doesn’t plan to just launch a new car, but a new range of cars which will be based on the 300 series range platform.
The Cruze will have a 5-speed manual transmission and ABS as standard. The company offers a three-year/1,00,000km warranty on the Cruze to up its game in the Indian market. The Cruze will be later made available with an automatic transmission. The engine management on the Cruze has been programmed differently compared to the Captiva, to churn out more power. Currently the car localisation is about 50%. For more on the Cruze, including the pictures, click here.
We at CarWale, once again spotted the Chevrolet Beat which will be based on Chevrolet’s new 300 series and its project has been named as M300. Earlier we had shown the spy pictures of the Beat, here is another one. The car should available for sale by the end of this year.

What is the logic of GM launching Cruze with good 2L, 150bhp engine spec, but low 165mm ground clearance (lower than that of civic) not suitable for indian roads conditions and highways with huge speed breakers and pot holes. Why not take feedback from people before launching new car?

Today I drove the car,What a powerful engine!simply superb! Excellent steering feel.Good suspension, fanstastic handling . No engine noise at all like skoda. from inside diesel engine sounds like 6 cylinder petrol.
full of features. A value for money for enthusiast drivers.

i went to check-out cruz (with a firm mind to book) . everything was great (price, features, engine, looks) till i sat in the back seat. the cabin height so so crammed/low that the head is always hitting the roof (i am only 5′10″). despite being longest, widest etc claims one feels suffocated in the backseat and those who use drivers & use back seats, it is is a simply no go situtation. it was a big disappointment. So do checkout the passenger cabin sitting at the back seat before booking.
