  3. Extremely Over Priced. They need to reduce the price tag by 2 lac otherwise no luck for Honda with this car.

  4. Hi,
The vehicle must be technologically outstanding ,but looks to be overpriced at least by 250000 INR.Costly hatchbacks won’t work in India.

  5. Hi,

Its exorbitently priced, HONDA is a brand having presence in India for more than a decade now, how could they price up their product so thoughtlessly, the product is good no doubt, but haven’t they thought how many consumers (in terms of percentage) would be there who would be interested in the purchase of a hatchback at the (decent) price of sedan.

  6. Honda is repeating the same mistake of Fabia. India is a very price sensitive market. If they want to sell good number, bas model should be at 5 Lac on Road.

  7. Hi!
Car is no doubt having maximum facilities in its segment. But it is too costly as a compact car. Lots of sedan cars are available in the market within the range of Rs.7 lakhs, i.e. Fiat Linea, Swift Dzire, Ford Ikon, Chevrolet Aveo, etc with latest technology & facilities. So, people will opt for sedan car only. If Honda wants to catch the market, then price should be reduced in the range of Hyundai i20 or Maruti’s Ritz, which also a latest compact car of its range.

  8. Hi Readers,

I have not seen it so far. Must be a good car as the brand behind is HONDA. As compared to the same power models available in the market, price seems to be higher by around 2.5 lacs, which needs to be considered.

This may be one big hurdle for sale. Otherwise everything is fine.

By Rama on Jun 11, 2009

  10. Lets watch out for the features……if honda has priced it above the similar segment cars present in the market, they must have given a thought to it and is been giving some good features in this car and if they are only encashing on there brand value then obiously they don’t want to approch masses…

  11. The Price effect would LEAD to the END of Honda’s popularity in India too as even in USA and other markets the Cars have become cheaper and in India they are trying to take the whole pie without sharing with Consumers (ous) would really affect the sales. The Polo thats a VW car would be priced at this high then who buy a Koren car to a German car which has proven track record.

  12. I am planning to buy a hatchback car and decided to wait till the launch of Honda Jazz . However , I am sadly disappointed with the unreasonable pricing of about Rs. 8.5 laks on road . I shall now have to consider the other options — Hyundai i20 , Skoda Fabia , Maruti Ritz etc.

I feel there should be some Agency to control such high pricing of the car manufacturers !!

  13. great car but very high priced. if they had thought or resarched on indian market they could have got great market share.

By jay on Jun 11, 2009

  14. Honestly during these tough times of recession, even staunch buyers of new models will resort to cost-economics leave alone a common buyer. I am now on look out for a better priced car as we see there are host of hatchback variety cars that are going to flood the market during next 12 months. Heavy competition is going to be there. Companies have to realize this to sustain in the market. I advise Honda to have a reality check and start looking at ground zero level instead of at 35000 feet level. Car buyers are now getting very smart and doing lot of research work before going for a buy. Please do not try to outsmart them. They are calling the shots. Be reasonable and fair to get succeed.

  15. At 7 lakhs, who in his right mind would want to buy a dabba? Even a jazzy, fully loaded dabba. In the middle of a downturn. In the most price conscious market in the world. Yeah, Honda, you sure seem to have done some fantastic research of your target segment. Alas, the Japanese never learn. Which is why the Koreans are sitting pretty. Unless this car can fly or swim, I dont see the point in spending 8+ lakhs on road, when there are a host of excellent options between 5. - 7 lakhs.

By ZeHawk on Jun 11, 2009

  16. I agree about the price. Honda has always milked the indian consumer by pricing their products above the others in the same segment.

By Azim on Jun 11, 2009

  17. My getz gvs 1341cc and 83 bhp with 116 nm torque gives at best 14.5 and 13.5 (AC) on highway. Honda claims of 16 with 90bhp engine is farfetched, cant believe more than 13kmpl.

By Azim on Jun 11, 2009

  18. The price must be reduced for jazz to capture the indian market. For a hatch back model, or else the consumers will fall on less priced other models of Maruti,Punte,Hyundai, since they are very sensitive on price segment. will the car manufacturers look into this immediately and reduce price by 1 to 1.5 lakhs, for their betterment.

  20. I was eagerly waiting for Jazz. But it seems that Honda wanted to only launch the car for display and not or selling.
Exorbidantly overpriced ( by atleast 2.00lac).
It seems Honda has not done the homework on the customer needs.
Maybe Honda is still thinking that India is a sellers market for cars….:).
Honda ..good car….for showroom display only..

By Ashish Pradhan on Jun 12, 2009

  21. Its really a hard luck for indian people specially the medium class people. Who can afford cars between 3-4lacs. Unfortunately Honda has no segment in this range. So has a challenging market for Jazz against Ritz and swift,i10 and i20.

By Harendra on Jun 12, 2009

  22. despite it’s having SOHC engine the cost is too high the cost should be in compare with HYUNDAI i20 which is powered by DOHC. Any way lets hope for the best HONDA should still come up with more hatchback cars but not too expensive.

By rahul rajesth on Jun 12, 2009

  23. Jazz no doubt is a very good car but the price is not mean for lower middle class people. The more buyer in India is a lower middle class people only.Hope HONDA may reduce the price to catch more buyer all over India.

  24. indian Hatchback price - 3.5 To 5.50lacks. This Honda Car is only for the ‘PAISA FEK ‘persons. I am prefer New Ford Ikon Diesel in same price with fantastic performance, cool Comfort & nice avarage of 15 kmpl. I think all hatchback car lovers need to wait for same time to purchase this ‘Dabba - a fully loded dabba’hONDA JAZZ.

    By RAVI K. on Jun 12, 2009

  25. this is totally nonsense from Honda…i never expected the cost of JAZZ will be crossing 3.5lakhs….there looks to be some marketing problem for Honda….Honda need to change there Indian management completely…or Japnese hve become MAD to loot INDIAN….friends kick them back for this Nonsense product…

By manjit on Jun 12, 2009

  26. I think Honda have their own sales strategy, they want to sell less cars but at a premium, they have always sold all their car models at a premium.

By Gagan on Jun 12, 2009

  27. Yes indeed it is good, BUT but…. how long One can produce/buy Petrol/Diesel driven cars, better one concentrate on alternative for the same, same attractive CHEAPER Eletric cars like in China!

  28. Poor Honda!! How are you going to compete with Chevrolet UVA, Hyundayi i20, MAriti Dzire, and Scoda Fabia. Even Scoda Fabia is not moving at 6 lac. Poor management.

  29. price is too high, it’s time to realise for Honda thant india is price sensitive market. not worth.

  30. Just went for the Jazz testdrive today.Plush interiors, good handling good 90 PS power just what everything a small car deserves but the only part that did not look deserving was the price the landed cost in a place like Goa was coming to Rs 7,54,000/-.In today’s time though matter Honda is a Jap company and whatever the jump to buy a 3 box vehicle is not pretty high either.I think Honda should seriously sort their pricing out with the Jazz.

  31. 7.33 Lacs Ex showroom.. Poor Honda.. They have beated Skoda Fabia in pricing.. I was just thinking that i might did a mistake by booking my i20 last week but thanks god that i did not wait for JAZZ…

By Tapabrata on Jun 12, 2009

  32. Why would anyone in their right state of mind go and pay 8.5 Lacs (On Road) for a hatchback, I would rather buy the Honda City. When someone can afford to pay 8.5 Lac for a Dinky car he can also afford to shell out another Lakh and a half for a full size luxury car.
Since i can’t afford that kind of money right now i just bought myself the Lovely Maruti Suzuki Ritz vxi which at 4.97 Lac on road is total paisa vasool. I would strongly recommend the Ritz to anyone looking for a car in this segment.
As for Honda After a Decade in India I think they still need to understand Indian car buying mentality and not think that we Indians are Fools to go and purchase such Ridiculously high priced cars just because they have a Honda badge.

By Moin on Jun 12, 2009

  33. At the same price you can get a full fledged Multi Purpose Vehicle like Mahindra Xylo. Mahindra Xylo is much better deal than this exorbitantly priced Hatchback.

  34. Dear All,
Honda has launched the value for money car with good features bundled in it. Though many of us have been waiting for its launch assuming its price in our reach,i would prefer it over SEDANS in the same price owing to the constraint over parking space. Also Honda had different segment in its mind when they were launching it. How would it look when we find all vehicles of same class with similar features, there should be a class apart within a class which a Fabia, Polo, Jazz are . Accept the fact , aspire for a little more than what we can afford. INDIA WELCOMES JAZZ

By Sreenivas ANKHE on Jun 13, 2009

  35. ithink its not value for money.if u seen engine is has no breathing space inside the hood.secound how can company like honda have two brands of glass in the car .its only seen in small car like ritz .indica,etc.thirdly to compare it with i20 is very bad.honda has wasted there time by bring its to india market as at thailand the engine is1.5 were as india its1.2 only.in india people are very hard working and then need valve for money.

By vikram on Jun 13, 2009

  36. HONDA MUST WRITE IN FRINT BELOW EVERY AD THAT “THIS CAR IS FOR SHOWROOM ONLY”
BCOZ YOU FIND VERY FEW FOOLS DRIVING THIS CAR ON STREETS. MY SINCERE WISH “GET WELL SOON HONDA”

By RAJ on Jun 13, 2009

  37. I think honda is not done proper market research before launching jazz bcoz its a big mistake done by honda to launch a hatch with the price tag of 8 lac in INDIA, they dont know why Maruti n Hyundai is so succesful in India in comparision of other car manufacture bcoz they know whats customer requirement and the they going to buy……….Finally I just want to say Jazz not going to work and its become a big FLOP in India(sorry to say but thats the fact that Honda need to realize)

By Aditya on Jun 13, 2009

  38. ONE LIFE. WHY SO SERIOUS?
It’s really a nice way to justify the price for a price sensitive market. I think HONDA need to be serious on pricing….
Let’s wait for Grande Punto or I20, Xylo is the best choice.

By Surender on Jun 14, 2009

  39. Indans will get good sedan like Fiat-Lenia within this price.
Honda should reduce the price if they really want this car to compete on road with hatch-backs like Skoda-Fabia, Fiat-Palio Stile (Do remember Palio Stile comes with a superb multijet diesel engine) & Hyundai-i20.

By Sanker Gopalakrishnan on Jun 15, 2009

  40. Guys,
m happy with the pricing…cause i’ll never curse my self for my choice of i 20 which I brought last month for 5, 40,000 (on road)….screw the brand value of honda….we are price conscious…..

    By SALIL.R.G on Jun 15, 2009

  41. I was wating for this launch eagerly and surprised to see the pricing. Hyundai i20 is more superior than Jazz with the features and Jazz is only a show piece. Not even, as there is no good features for this price. Sorry Honda, I can’t afford it.
