Hyundai launches i10 in India
November 1, 2007 – 11:20 am by Ashish Jha
Pa - the much-awaited small-car from Hyundai which has finally been launched will be called the i10. Pa was strange enough a name, the i10, even more so! The Hyundai i10 is going to be made available in 4 variants namely D-Lite, Era, Magna and D-Auto and ten colour options! The engine powering the i10 will be the same 1.1-litre unit of the Santro albeit with a bit of fine-tuning to increase the power rating to 66 horses.
The car is as bang on the buck as can be expected. There is an option of ABS and airbags in addition to the usual array of regular features like central locking and power windows etc. There is also an option of a sunroof on the top-end version! The interior looks modern and well laid out with a neat look to it. On the outside, the grille is basically non-existant but the large airdam makes the front look imposing as do the large headlamps. The rear however looks staid in comparison and the only saving grace is the tail-lamp.
Retailing at a starting price of 3.39lakh for the base version, D-Lite which goes upto 4.9lakh for the Magna with sun roof, the Hyundai i10 is a well priced product which should spark off yet another war in the small-car segment.
Now that the i10 is here, Wagon-R, Chevy Spark, Zen Estilo and even Santro to some extent have a lot to worry about. We’ll bring you more about this car soon. Watch this space…

I am a fan of santro, driving it for the past 4 years. I love Santro’s seating, visibility, inside space to outisde size, pick-up, mileage, quietness etc. I saw i10 today and was totally dissappointed. Dashboard looks jazzy in the first instance but soon you will realize it is higher than Santro and thus reduces front visibility. Though i10 claims about 2 inch wider than Santro, neither outsise nor inside you feel that extra space! Infact, luggage space in Santro feels bigger. Also, the trunk cover (called fruit tray?) has disapppeared, this is really bad. Hiding valuable luggage (like laptops etc) in car is a major plus.
I believe Hyundai India has lost balence. i10 will join not so successful hatches of Estillo, Spark, Stile.

Life-cycle of Hyundai Getz is reaching the end by the summer of 2008 as Hyundai is working hard to replace it with this Hyundai i20 and the first five-door models should arrive in dealers before the end of 2008.
Positioned below the brand new i30. Power between 70 and 110 bhp in Petrol segment and 88 and 110 bhp in turbodiesel. A new 1.2-litre petrol engine will spearhead the line-up, while a revised version of the firm’s existing 1.4 unit will also be offered. Diesel power will come from the current 1.5-litre CRTD.
Totally modified model from inside as well from outside as it will be bigger and provide more cabin space. There will be high-quality trim inside and a more flexible seating layout.
Price of i20 is expected to be slightly more expensive than the Getz to reflect its increased size and improved interior quality

I’m here to warn you guys if you are here to buy any of Hyundai product, plz research about the dealers too.I have put myself into wrong hands. Its Suhrit Hyundai, new delhi. They are buch of real bstards. They have made my life miserable. They were supposed to deliver me Santro GLS last week, but its still undelivered inspite of getting 90% of the payments. And they are not even giving a final date for the same. They dont even bother to pick up my call. And by chance they do say, everytime they say to give them 2-3 more days. Finally today I have lodged a complaint today with Hyundai about all this. They have promised me to resolve this in 4 working days.Lets hope things get resolved soon.I dont know how will be their service post-sell if they are this bat before the sell.Plz keep warning your friends and relatives of such dealers, Suhrit Hyundai,Delhi in particular.

I really reccommend..please don’t buy a Hyundai car. i wish I’d read the review about the dealer earlier. Sreenath Hyundai in mumbai is no better.I booked an i 10 in december and have had a harrowing experience ever since. TIll now there is no trace of the car. They keep postponing the date of delivery. on top of that the sales executive of this dealership are so so rude. The managers are no better.
I really think Hyundai doesn’t need anymore customres. No wonder nothing is being done about this attitude of the dealers.
Please don’t go to Sreenath Hyundai under any cicumstances, or even better don’t buy a hyundai car.

I have a different story altogether.
I bought hyundai i10 from Talwar, Hyderabad.
They said they will deliver by Saturday and they DID, even when my papers were pending with bank.
They were very decent and always been helpful.
i10’s seat is better positioned than Swift, that you have a better view of the road, especially in cities.
Only drawback is thicker corner beams, but its ok
Gear is super smooth (compared to Swift or Santro ).

I too agree with. Most of the dealers in chennai are falling in the same catagory. In our office we have about 30 to 40 Santros and almost all the owners are having very bad feelings about the dealers, although the vechicle is good. We left for service at M/s Kun Hyundai at chennai couple of months back and just before delivery, our vehicle fallen from the ramp and both side doors, headlights , bonnet and runner got totally damaged. they promised all would be replaced at free of cost & may be delivered in 2 days. Finally delivered after a weeks time and forced to pay for the headlights and told headlights are not covered under warranty.
Still the car is having some problem and every time we leave for service, bill comes about Rs.4000 - 6500/-
