Volkswagen Comes With Passat in India

European auto-giant Volkswagen has launched Passat today in India. The car full of luxurious features is available in two versions, Highline DSG and Highline DSG S. Highline DSG is priced at 22.35 lakh and Highline DSG S at 24.35 lakh rupees (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
Both Volkswagen Passat variants are Diesel ones and have 2.0L (1968cc) TDI, 4-cylinder engine under the hood. The engine can deliver a maximum of 141ps power (at 4000 rpm) and 320Nm of torque (in 1750-2500 rpm band). Both the cars have a 6-speed, DSG, automatic gearbox. The company claims that Passat can achieve a maximum speed of 206 kmph and 0-100 kmph can be reached in less than 10 seconds.
Passat is being imported in India as CKD (Completely Knocked-down Unit) and is being assembled at Skoda’s Aurangabad plant. Though Touareg (luxury SUV) and Phaeton (luxury sedan) have been sold in India as CBUs (Completely Built Unit) already, Passat is the first official launch by Volkswagen in India.
Passat is well loaded with luxurious features like Climatronic air conditioner, 6-disc CD changer with MP3 music system, 12-way adjustable front seats, leather upholstery, bi-xenon headlights with self-cleaning system and safety features like ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), ESP (Electronic Stabilization Control) and 8 Airbags. Six colors (one solid, three metallic and two pearl-finish) are available to choose from.

I’ve really been impressed by the vw passat not as a user but as a spectator. It sounds to be great. But generally why cars are really struggling to cross a mileage of even 20kpl.

VW does not have any immediate plans of introducing the legendary Beetle in India. They might consider it at a later point of time, but we suspect it will take atleast three years.
