SEAT continues with same line-up

SEAT will continue with last year’s World Touring Car Championship line-up for 2009, with the 2008 title winner Yvan Muller alongwith Gabriele Tarquini, Rickard Rydell, Jordi Gene and the former Portugal Formula 1 driver Tiago Monteiro who partnered Narain Karthikeyan in Jordan Toyota F1 in 2005.
The official announcement was made at SEAT’s Gala Awards held in Barcelona. The team ruled the circuits last year with Muller and Tarquini finishing first and second in the drivers’ standings. The team won 12 races of the 24 held last year and hence the manufacturer’s president finds no reason to change the line-up.
SEAT president Eric Schmitt said, “I am very proud of the successes achieved by our team and am pleased to announce that SEAT will continue with its racing activities in 2009. We want to defend our world championship titles with the same team and the same drivers as last year.”
