BMW to launch X6 next year

August 13, 2008 – 1:03 pm by Charles Pennefather

BMW X6Peter Kronschnabl, president, BMW India, has announced that the X6 SAV (Sports Activity Vehicle) will be launched in India sometime next year while inaugurating the company’s studio in Janpath, New Delhi.

The X6 is a full-size SUV but with a coupe-like roofline. It seats only give, unlike the usual SUV’s seven passengers, and creates a whole new segment for itself, like the X3 has. BMW’s plans for the Mini have been pushed further back – they will review it in 2010, but if the Fiat 500 and upcoming VW Beetle sell well, we don’t doubt that the Mini won’t be too far behind. BMW might also consider importing hybrid models to India in the future.
