July 4, 2008 – 5:39 pm by Charles Pennefather

Delphi is setting up a manufacturing unit in Chennai to produce electronics and safety management system products. An investment worth Rs 300 crore will be required for this expansion, and in-principle approval and land has already been obtained for it.

The unit will initially produce instrument clusters and later products like airbags, seat belts, immobilisers and microprocessor-driven controls for wipers, headlamps, etc. Delphi currently has four manufacturing facilities and a technical centre in Bangalore that has 600 employees.
