VW hires new MD

K. K. Swamy, formerly Deputy MD of Toyota Kirloskar Motor Ltd, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of Volkswagen India Private Limited as Managing Director and Vice President with effect from July 21. In this position, he reports to the Managing Director and President of Volkswagen India Private Limited, Jörg Müller, who is also the Volkswagen Group Regional Representative for India.
K. K. Swamy has nearly three decades of experience in Indian industry. Following managerial functions at major engineering companies, he assumed senior management duties at one of the core companies of the Kirloskar Group, India’s largest engineering group. In 1993 he was promoted to Corporate Vice President and was responsible for overall finance and business development. He played a key role in the formation of several joint ventures for the Kirloskar Group.
Since 1997 Swamy has played a significant role in establishing and managing Toyota Kirloskar Motor Ltd. He was instrumental in successfully setting up the green field project as well as efficient supplier and sales networks.
