Maruti, Hyundai, GM and Tata slash prices of small cars

March 1, 2008 – 10:19 am by Banwari Lal Sharma

Yesterday’s budget impact has been quite pleasant for small-car buyers. Almost all small-car manufacturers have reduced their small car prices from 5,000 to 20,000 rupees. Hyundai, Maruti and GM had taken the new prices in effect immediately.

Hyundai Motor India was the first one to announce price-cut. Now Santro Xing is cheaper by Rs 8,730- Rs 13,278, i10 by Rs 11,047- Rs 16,324 and Getz Prime by Rs 13,169- Rs 19,419. Though the new prices are already in effect, dealers will get new prices after weekend only. Phoenix Hyundai (Mumbai) is expecting new price-list on Monday.

Maruti Suzuki has announced price-cut on 800, Omni, Alto, Zen Estilo, Wagon R and Swift Diesel. The reduction would range between Rs 6,500 for Maruti 800 to Rs 18,030 for Swift Diesel (ex-showroom Delhi). General Motors (Chevrolet) will reduce prices in the range of Rs 7,500 –Rs 14,000 on Spark and U-VA. Tata Motors has confirmed the price-cut, however, they will announce the new prices in the next few days.

I have been tracking the Swift Dzire launch news. Till last year, people were saying it will be launched in january, then 6th march. And now we are already on 11th march, and still no one knows exactly which date the launch is going to happen. Hope it doesn’t get deferred any further.

  7. It is disappointing to note that even after 16 days of the Union Budget announcing decrease in Excise Duty, your site has not revised the prices of all four TATA INDIGO CS variants. You seemed to be a market leader in car deals - both new and old! What has dulled your responses to the new developments? You were reminded by a previous blog on 03.03.2008 too by some other gentleman in this regard. Please do the needful immediately and save your reputation of being a true leader.
