Hyundai sales figures January ‘09

Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) registered a decline in cumulative sales for the month of January 2009. While domestic sales dropped by 13.5%, exports grew by 20.9 %. Cumulative sales, however, dropped by 1.3%.
HMIL’s total sales for January, 2009 stood at 37,216 units against 37,700 units in January 2008. The domestic market accounted for 21,016 units, compared to 24,301units for the same month last year while the exports totaled 16,200 units in January, 2009, against 13,399 units during January 2008.
The segment-wise cumulative sales in the month of January, 2009 are as follows: A2 segment (Santro, i10, Getz & i20) 35,096 units; A3 segment (Accent & Verna) 2057 units; units, A5 segment (Sonata Transform) 62 units; and SUV segment (Tucson) 1 unit.

Month to month sales are not a good measure of what is and what is not selling.
Hyundia January sales are actually in a 3 year decline.
They sold more cars in Jan 2007 then either Jan 2008 or Jan 2009.
Dec 2008 sales were off by 48%.
