  2. So the August sales figures confirm that the Honda Jazz pricing has turned the customer away to other brands. All other brands have increased sales other than Honda(just 4 % growth). Honda seems to have either lost its touch with the Indian Customer or feels that they know them better . If a sale of 1000 cars per month happens after a launch what will happen after the diwali offseason.
By now Honda should have moved into their second line production. Far from it they have cannabilsed their own city sales.
Looks like someone is about to be transferred out of India soon.

  3. I have a friend who bought the jazz in July. He says he regrets payimg so much for a car which is as good as the earlier car he had (Maruti Swift). The car is heavy in city traffic. Perhaps Honda overvalued their brand.

  4. So Honda has just declared a loss for 2008-2009. The only way a company can make a loss with such brand equity is to fritter it away by unrealistic pricing. The Civic has bombed and the Jazz draws inquisitive visitors and then drives them to I 20 and Getz showrooms because of crazy pricing. Their spokesmen talk of product value when they know they are giving a 1200 CC engine and pocketing the excise duty exemption. The product is overvalued by atleast 1 lakh. Anyway sales after Diwali will determine their fate because the first five months have been a disater and November-February has never been good for the industry.
Someday this will become a case study on how to kill brand value.

  5. Regretfully the September 2009 sales of Honda Jazz shows a step downfall to 500 nos. This is a textbook case of how to kill a product by taking the customer for granted. The Honda team still seems to be living in their Ivory tower of make belief.Their empereal stance of how the City sales are improving because of Jazz customers upgrading to City is laughable for you did not need to create the Jazz to sell the city-There were cheaper and better options available.
I like the Jazz but dont want to be ripped up just for the Honda Brand.Wait another couple of months and I would lose interest in Honda itself. May as well wait for Toyota? Mr Janeshwar if you dont act now then when will you?
