The Grand Vitara will be available with manual and automatic transmissions. The SUV could cost less than Rs 17 lakh tag (ex-showroom).  It will be a 4×4, an all terrain vehicle.

The diesel engine rustles upto 90bhp and produces a torque of 22kgm at 1750rpm. The car has ABS and other safety features like the petrol variant. This car will be quicker than the existing petrol variant and more efficient too.

The company’s sales crossed 70,000-units mark for the sixth consecutive month, besides registering highest-ever export for a single month, it added. Sales of M800 declined by 54.52 per cent at 2,438 units against 5,361 units last year, while A2 segment (comprising Alto, Wagon R, Zen Estillo, Swift, A-Star and Ritz) witnessed a growth of 22.21 per cent at 46,156 units compared with 37,767 units in the same month last year.

Sales in the A3 segment (consisting of SX4 and DZiRE increased by 5.03 per cent to 6,099 units compared to 5,807 units in the corresponding period last year, the company said. MSI’s passenger car sales rose by 10.17 per cent at 61,583 units against 55,899 units in the same month in 2008, the statement said.

After talking to Michael Boneham, President and Managing Director, Ford India, he commented that the small car will share the platform with its European and Australian sibling. The company is already testing about 300 protos. The car could have a 1.2 litre petrol engine to get the excise cut and probably a 1.5 litre diesel engine.

The automakers are even looking forward for better availability of finance for consumers to get their loans easily sanctioned. The sales drip experienced by these auto companies hasn’t grown as much as it was expected.

The range sold in India will consist of the Jaguar XKR, XF and XFR, whereas SUV enthusiasts will be pleased to know that the Discovery 3, Range Rover and Range Rover Sport will retail in India. The top-end Range Rover Sport will retail for Rs 89 lakh. Tata Motors has been declared the exclusive importers of the two brands, and the first showroom has been opened at Ceejay House in Worli, Mumbai. The dealer network will be expanded over this year and the next.

It will have a gasoline powered engine, with a front wheel drive and a propeller for the flight. The wings of the car fold in 30 seconds and the car can be parked like other normal cars. The car will cost around Rs 1 crore and the company’s testing so far has been very successful.

The Vice-President of the company said in an interview with the Canadian TV, “Our depositors represent a wide-cross section in terms of age, interests, and intended use of the vehicle. We have deposits from both experienced pilots and non-pilots who intend to earn their Sport Pilot certificate.”
