December 22, 2008 – 6:31 pm by CarWale TeamAccording to the customer research body JD Power Asia Pacific, Maruti Suzuki has held the grip on the Indian automobile market as it topped the annual India Performance Execution and Layout Study (APEAL).
Various Maruti models like the Swift, Wagon R, Swift Dzire and SX4 topped their respective segments. The recently-launched Swift Dzire, which competed against the Hyundai Accent, Mahindra Logan and Tata Indigo scored 802 points on a 1000-point scale. For the second consecutive year, Maruti’s Swift and SX4 topped the premium compact and mid-size segments.
Japanese car manufacturers topped the sheets in the remaining categories, with Toyota’s Innova leading in the multi-utility vehicle segment. Honda wasn’t far behind; the Civic and CR-V topped the premium sedan and SUV segment.
