I bought this Indica V2 Turbo BS III DLS Model in June 2006.  I have since driven 20000 kms in last 15 months & have availed of the 4 free services.  My experience has been excellent.  It's very comfortable (have driven a max of 650 kms in a day on highway). The AC is very effective. I have faced not a single problem as yet.  It's a very smooth running vehicle.  It gives me a milage (without AC) of approx. 17 to 18 kmpl in city around 21 to 22 on highway (at a speed of 80/85 kmph). With AC the mileage drops by 15% in city & 10% on highways.

People say that after 3 years the vechicle is useless and maintainance expenses rise.

This is specilly with the case of Diesel vehicles
so such cars are good only for Businessmen who can afford to change the cars after 3 years and whats more all expenses incurred gets debited to their Business Account. But it is different for Middle income and retired people who have to shell out their hard earned money.

Diesel cars are these days quite refined & virtually as good as petrol ones. Maintenance too is not at all high as it used to be earlier. Diesel engines are more sturdy, stronger & have better longevity. They are more fuel efficient & economical. Therefore, diesel cars, Indica in particular (preferably Turbo), is recommended for service/middle class people (like me) who are concious of their hard-earned money & want the returns of every money spent. Please also read my review Lovely Lovely Car.

Well, that mileage is unusually low - get it checked thoroughly from an authorised dealer/workshop.
