I purchased the Hyundai Verna CRDI SX
one month back in August 2007 with a view and assurance given by the
dealer for an average of 25Km/Ltr on highways & 20Km/Ltr in local.
The company published ads in the news papers & other media claiming
the average to be 32.8Km/Ltr under ideal conditions & that
convinced me the average told by the dealer to be correct . After
driving the car even after 2000Km and regular check up with the
dealer  I am able to get a mileage of  max. 14Km/Ltr on highways & 10Km/Ltr in the local.
I would not recomend this car to anyone if you are impressed by thr
company claimed mileage of 32.8Km/Ltr. It is recommended to take a test
drive and check the mileage personally before purchasing.

car companies always fool us with astronomical figures of fuel economy, however, milage given by CARWALE and AUTOCAR seem very realistic, please take care in future, thanks for very good feed back

carp! i got verna diesel crdi, gives me around 14+ in city with AC on and on highways way above 18.i suppose is satisfactory, and also person buying a 8.50 lakhs car shouldnt bother about mileage so much.

Autocar figures are 12.6 kmpl for city and 16.8 kmpl for highway driving. Also the in gear acceleration figures for Logan Diesel,Fiesta diesel and Verna are very similar to each other and these other cars give better fuel economy also. In gear acceleration is probably better indicator of drivability rather than the commonly followed parameter of 0 to 100 acceleration.

You cannot drive a diesel motor like any other motor and expect fuel economy. Keep it under 2000 rpm for gear shifts and once up to speed cruise. I got verna crdi and have gotten upto 30 kml on highway. Diesel NEVER will give you any economy in city conditions. I get about 14 kml which is respectable enough for a 1.5L TC engine .. :)

Firstly you cannot expect the best average after just a month with a diesel engine - you havent mentioned how many kms you have driven? Check again after your first mainteannce.

the diesel engines generally has to complete minimum of 10000km to get a good millage and till that u should allow engine to get set and as it is a turbocharged engine it takes little time for tubo to respond when it is new.if the diesel engines once it settles it will give u a best millage and performance and even the sound will become very smoth so u nedd to drive the new engine at low speeds till around 10000km

    Hey,
I have been using Verna diesel since August lat month. Last saturday, the PUC guy refused to do a PUC for my car because it was emitting more smoke than allowed. Moreover, its mileage has gone down considerably. I dont think it is giving more than 14. All this despite the fact that i have gotten all the services done on time and from the authorised dealer. Moreover, the car loses control post braking on high speeds. I say its a no-no for the amount they sell it. DONT BUY.

I have been using the VERNA CRDI for last 3 months. My average speed is around 45 km/h this inclueds city drive and highway drive.I am getting an average milage of around 18.5 km.Please do the proper gear shifting with the rpm and speed .I really enjoy driving verna. 18.5 km/l is enough and more for a car like verna...

alright firstly yash get a grip.
u dnt give a damn about the mileage, but the majority does. and dont fly high just because u have purchesed an 8.5 lac car. i own a sonata diesel, a bmw 320d. and bought it with my own money and im just 19 years old, and do car bout mileage, and both the cars are well more expensicve than yours. so dont write just for the sake of it, and if u dnt car about mileage tht much then i recommend u bought a petrol version optra top model with better everything.
