bought the car recently and it is really great in all aspects .the drive gives you a feeling of exhiliration as HONDA says for civic.i am told that with fully loaded civic with luggage in boot , one has to be careful over potholesotherwise it scrapes the ground. solution = go slow(i have'nt experienced it yet )

in my first 700 kms,i got an overall average of 12.5 kmph with 70% drive in city and 30% drive on highways and AC on 80% of total driving

  2. on 04 Sep, 2007 at 10:35 PM Taruna

what about your the ground clearance experience ???

  3. on 05 Sep, 2007 at 10:23 PM PSV (Cochin)

have driven about 750 kms in kerala recently(roads are bad view monsoons),have been carefull over bumps/speedbrakers and have'nt scraped yet.so by being careful/slow you can avoid scraping.barring this caution the car ids fantastic and one falls in love with this car, generations ahead of other counterparts, cheers

lemme tell you guys ,CIVIC is a grat car to be owned ,you get into a different league, its a SUPERB car and you wont regret it,nothing can beat civic in next two years atleast,OWN A CIVIC AND ENJOY RIDING IT !!!!!!!!!!!

  5. on 26 Sep, 2007 at 11:15 AM PSV (Cochin)

    Hi All!
I've done 950+ km/h on my civic MT and take my word for it, the car felt absolutely stable and composed... not a hint of instability, drifting or steering vibrations. The only concern is the low ground clearance and long wheel base, due to which one has to almost come to a halt when a speed breaker or rough patch of road is sighted on the horizon, lest you hit the underside

  6. on 13 Oct, 2007 at 03:33 PM Harish_Joomy

    nice car

  7. on 20 Oct, 2007 at 04:30 PM Iktej Jabbal (Pune)

Thanx for the wonderful review . Actually I am planning to buy a car in this range . Although I love the Civic but I have heard that this car has a problem with the brakes and also the suspension .. Is that true ??Also , what is the mileage of the car in the city ?? I've heard its just 7-8 kmpl??Thanx in advance.

  8. on 20 Oct, 2007 at 08:51 PM Aakash 272 (Chandigarh)

Mr. PSV sir,can you please list the points which make you think the civic is generations ahead of its counterparts(take octavia VRS or optra magnum for instance)

  9. on 29 Oct, 2007 at 11:47 PM PSV (Cochin)

    dear M_E6 and Aakash272,
    sorry for replying late.
civic has no probs with brakes except that you cant use them without the key in & turned to first position.
as far it being generations ahead,it sure is because of features like- sporty steering wheel, auto transmission, ivtec engine(gives you best combination of power and FE),looks(aerodynamic look),driver area(like a cockpit of and aircraft),add on features like the hand brake style, six cd changer, launched world wide (meaning the latest model

  10. on 01 Nov, 2007 at 08:23 AM PSV (Cochin)

as far as the suspension goes ,ther is no problem but yes it is soft (specially done so for our roads) to give good ride quality and yes the bottom may scrape over bad bumps if you are not slow and fully loaded

  11. on 10 Nov, 2007 at 10:04 PM Aakash 272 (Chandigarh)

Something you and our readers should know:Civic's auto only reduces the performance and lower's the fuel efficiency.Laura offers the DSG auto box which is even better than normal manual(heard that before?).COROLLA's VVTi is the best combination of power and FE .Certainly no civic can beat the safety of corolla. As for the hand brake style,HB lever is given precedence over the gear lever as if the driver were to apply the hand brake and the gear shifting be done by co-passenger(impracticality)

  12. on 06 Dec, 2007 at 11:32 AM Doctorfordiabetes

i am really worried, whether to buy civic, city or corolla. i also like civic, but incase i am driving fast and suddenly a speak breaker comes, i wound not know what to and bump in and then pay a big price for repairs of civic bottom. my emails is doctorfordiabetes@gmail.com. please guys get in touch with me and HELP ME device. its so nice u have offered your comments, but please help me decide my car. i can invest till 11 to 12 Lakhs. do write to me. thx. Doctor.

  13. on 07 Dec, 2007 at 01:12 PM Aakash 272 (Chandigarh)

Well doctorfordiabetes sir, civic is a great car.If you want a smooth petrol, great looks(inside and outside) and even good power. But the ground clearance, fuel eff, repairs, services, suspensions are troublesome.I suggest you try the optra magnum or wait for an year till the new corolla(awesome!) is launched.Otherwise,I say civic is not a bad deal either. Please tell your daily usage conditions for more help

  14. on 07 Dec, 2007 at 02:30 PM Sood_Raghav

Could any one plz let me know whether Honad civic automatic transmission is sucessful while driving on hills as i live in a hill station and I am realy interested in buying HOnda civic automatic transmission........

  15. on 08 Dec, 2007 at 10:09 AM Aakash 272 (Chandigarh)

You will not have any trouble driving the auto civic in hills with respect to power. But the ground clearance WILL be an issue.I have seen people selling off civic because of ground clearance only. The auto drinks fuel like water.

  16. on 15 Dec, 2007 at 03:16 AM Vinayak

Hi...aakash can u please help me choose between a civic and corolla..my heart says civic coz i am a honda fanatic..so much so that i have a crv..i had the old city, sold it and bought the new one as couldn't convince myself to leave a honda..is it worth waiting for the new corolla and when would it be launched coz i am in a bit of a rush..

  17. on 18 Dec, 2007 at 12:17 AM Doctorfordiabetes

today i went to see different cars in 8 to 12 Lakh segment. u r welcome to write to me. my email is doctorfordiabetes@gmail.com. i went to check for cedia. i was told that hindustan motors in lucknow has got rid of mitsubishi..... so no service centre as of now and no showroom.... all shut down due to very poor demand and sales of lancers. i said Noooooooooo coz i wanted to buy cedia aplg. that gone, i went to check MAGNUM 1.6LT Petrol and then city, civic and corolla.

  18. on 18 Dec, 2007 at 12:22 AM Doctorfordiabetes

dont buy civic. buying civic means... pay 11 lakhs and then drive it slow in city... because incase there is a spead braker which is higher than normal.... u get to hear that nice bump..... now i dont say this... people say that civic has low ground clearance...... this is irritating because this means u cannot drive it to hilly areas... or to an unknown city coz u dont know the road conditions there.. this is a HANDICAP... low ground clearance... just imagine... paying 11 laks and hear a bump!

  19. on 18 Dec, 2007 at 12:25 AM Doctorfordiabetes

next i checked magnum 1.6lt best model petrol. very nice looks but guess what... no one talks about its ground clearance... but it is 165cms... civic is 170cms... cedia is 175cms....my god... this means even magnum has low ground clearance, but i never read anyone talking about it... everyone comments on civic low ground clearance thing... whatever... since mangun is lower than civi........ i guess one shud not go for it...besides this i guess magnum doesnt have abs.

  20. on 18 Dec, 2007 at 12:30 AM Doctorfordiabetes

i guess i will have to go for ford fiesta..or simple honda city.... this is so frustrating....... cedia service centre is not in my town lucknow...THOSE WHO CAN REACH CEDIA...... buy cedia aplg..... its great in every way... believe me. its only 8.6 lakhs and has greatest features...... may be i will find a cedia service centre in nearby town and go for it..but i cannot even think of driving civic and magnum slowly just because it has low ground clearance.email me doctorfordiabetes@gmail.com

  21. on 29 Dec, 2007 at 03:35 PM Aakash 272 (Chandigarh)

Cedia is a great car, pretty much made for indian roads(Mitsubishi suspensions).Doctor sir,you make the right choice with this car.And vinayak sir, give me one good reason to be a honda freak. Its just a normal car manufacturing co.If you are in a hurry,go for the civic,it won't be a bad deal. But if you can afford CRV and you buy cities again and again, why don't you go for a real car, like camry, passat, laura instead of civic?

  22. on 31 Dec, 2007 at 01:46 PM Sandeep Vijay (Navi Mumbai)

    Hi,
I want to buy Honda Civic MT, but after reading all the comments it seems that, Civic has more Cons then Prons.
Can any one suggest me about CIVIC

  23. on 05 Jan, 2008 at 10:54 AM Aakash 272 (Chandigarh)

One more thing, civic requires a lot of upkeep. With the car's bottom usually scraping the roads, etc the bumpers and side skirts would require a lot of luck or money to stay intact. Also since this car is internationally new,it has a few programming and mechanical flaws,so be ready for callbacks(recently around 1000 civics were called back because of faulty brake lights). And honda services are known to drain money(present owners can confirm that)

  24. on 05 Jan, 2008 at 11:24 AM PSV (Cochin)

dear all, i wud like to allay fears of all the wud be buyers of civic. it's a great car, have done 4500 kms by now and hav scraped the bumps only twice so far and no damages, maintenence is average (have not spent any money so far),one can very well drive AT/MT in hilly areas too, fuel efficiencey is better in MT,i get 10 in city and 14 on highway with AC on fully, yes it is little costly ,but if u hav the money its best in segment, some readers may like to check ownership reports on teambhp.com

  25. on 05 Jan, 2008 at 11:32 AM PSV (Cochin)

furthermore,it requires less money to maintain in comparison to skoda/corolla/accord etc but yes wrt to sx4/city/cedia etc its wud be more.but then heard the news of civic hybrid(wud run on electricty/petrol/gas) being launched in india in few months,so u cud check out the reports on that too.no problems in programming/mechanical flaws, its an internationally launched model with HONDA backing.civic were not called back in indian model as the problem was with left hand driven civics.

  26. on 05 Jan, 2008 at 11:34 AM PSV (Cochin)

also calling back and replacing some faulty part shud be taken as postive step of the reputed company like honda.there are many who wud not even accept the fault leave apart calling back !!!!!!!!!

  27. on 12 Jan, 2008 at 09:59 AM Aakash 272 (Chandigarh)

Mr PSV sir, please let go of your car,be reasonable.Just saying it needs less maintenance doesn't mean it does.Have you or any of your acquaintance ever owned these cars that you say so about them.Mitsubishi called back around 100,000 cars in the 90s which badly damaged their reputation and bankrupted them.According to you ,they should have been earning more than honda today, right? The hybrid would cost 24 lakhs.I'd rather buy a Camry. And those 1000 civics WERE Indian models.

  28. on 12 Jan, 2008 at 10:05 AM Aakash 272 (Chandigarh)

Just imagine you need two cars for everyday life:one civic and the other, say a toyota.Your civic is called back for a month and you have to pool with your friends or take the bus,etc for a month or so.Mr PSV sir, tell me would you still be happy that atleast a reputed company like Honda is calling back the car instead of not accepting the fault and that you rightly spent the money on it?Ever heard of call backs in mercs and Bmws(or even toyota)?the reason is quality.

  29. on 12 Jan, 2008 at 12:09 PM PSV (Cochin)

well, Aakash, i am being more than reasonable and sure enough every car needs maintenance like other cars.well search on google for honda civic says this-----
Honda Civic recall may not happen in India. September 17, 2007 by Manoj Singhal. Honda Civic owners in India need not worry. The assurance comes from V.P. ...
honda Civic recall not applicable to India - India Broadband ForumHonda Civic recall not applicable to India Japanese automaker Honda has stated that their recently

  30. on 12 Jan, 2008 at 12:20 PM PSV (Cochin)

and mr, aakash seem to prejudiced agaist the car. other readers are requested to read the comments in forum " honda civic performance results" in carwale forums.the civic recall was for left hand driven cars which is not the case in india.
and the very fact they recalled back ,it does mean that they have known the problem and hav bee very forth right in acceting /recalling them.
well, civic does create many admirers for wat it is and some critics too,and both should be taken in right spirit

  31. on 12 Jan, 2008 at 12:23 PM PSV (Cochin)

furthermore it is advised, please do not buy on my opinion only, readers are requested to go through test drive reports, performance reports given at carwale.com and teambhp.com.i am sure all the fears would be allyed and depending on individual requirements one would be able to decide the best suited car for oneself.
the idea is to share correct views and help one have the decision for purchasing his car, cheers and happy motoring

  32. on 12 Jan, 2008 at 05:55 PM Aakash 272 (Chandigarh)

Well PSV sir,I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings, but certainly I'm not prejudiced. Most Honda cars are overhyped.Readers are advised to be be critical about every car they test drive or wish to buy.So if you tell them that civic looks great(inside and outside),is spacious and has great power(which is true) then you should also tell them where it lacks, right? So readers are advised to stop reading comments and go out for a test drive. We're not here to praise our cars,we're here to help others buy!

  33. on 14 Jan, 2008 at 08:13 AM PSV (Cochin)

aakash, absolutely not,u hav not hurt my feelings.ur comments did appear like that to me, so i said that, any way i appreciate that r u also are now advising the readers to read more user comments from various forums and surely go for a test drive.i am sure readers wud definately form up their own opinions.as regards my own experience for civic ,i do tell the good points and if u notice also wat it lacks like GC problem, cheers anyway and happy motoring to all

  34. on 15 Jan, 2008 at 12:43 AM Sumit Kalra (New Delhi)

I have just applied for car loan and on the verge of buying a civic. I have done my research on Civic. I clearly understand that the ground clearance is a problem and also there is not clear indication on actual fuel eff.. I am confused between Scorpio and Civic. I know they belong to diff league.. has anyone checked our rider diesel.

  35. on 15 Jan, 2008 at 09:30 AM Aakash 272 (Chandigarh)

sumit sir, safari is better than scorpio(2.2l versions) but neither has build quality comparable to civic.the rider is better built but is an old timer and the rear is too cramped(it's like sitting in a small car).If you are ok with that go for the rider else civic is the best choice. You might wanna check out magnum and cedia too(both cheaper than 10 lac)

  36. on 15 Jan, 2008 at 12:43 PM PSV (Cochin)

a SUV and a car, well u know both hav their own pros and cons,SUV like scorpio or safari has more road presence in terms of people giving u way coz of sheer size and a car like civic gives that feeling of being in a gr8 car.optra magnum diesel cud also be checked buit it laks the appeal which civic wud give u.as regarsd of GC problem,it is noticeable with full load and boot filled.and its prominent on bad speed brakers or a little bigger pot holes, gotta be careful means be slow and cut diagonall

  37. on 15 Jan, 2008 at 12:46 PM PSV (Cochin)

and cut diagonally to in effect reduce larger wheel base of the car.do keep us posted on ur decision and happy motoring, cheers

  38. on 18 Jan, 2008 at 10:18 PM Sns (Bangalore)

    Folks,
Looks at Optra Magnum Diesel. It's worth looking at prior to making a decision on Civic as it's two lacs cheaper than CIVIC and the performance is outstanding.
    All the best.

  39. on 18 Jan, 2008 at 11:36 PM Sumit Kalra (New Delhi)

Well today I went ahead and booked the new Mahindra mHawk. 8-9 average is too low for me when I drive around 70 kms everyday.. Though no disrespect but Civic and Scorpio were my only narrowed done options..I am not a very GM/Mitsubishi fan..

  40. on 02 Feb, 2008 at 04:03 PM Margarita

I love my civic but for such an early age, I can hear rattles. What a bummer

  41. on 27 Feb, 2008 at 05:18 PM Astser

The Civic is one of the best cars in its range. I am getting a mileage of around 12 KMPL and the driving comfort is too good.

I was initially apprehensive about the low ground clearance and reports of scraping, but such a thing never happened to me even at humps where I expected scraping.

I am also very happy with the service from Honda in the Delhi region. Honda seems to be very serious about the quality of service.

  42. on 05 Mar, 2008 at 02:12 PM Sagar

dear sir,i am planning to buy a car within 10-12 lakh.have shortlisted civic, corolla, octavia but i am more on civic appreciation than octavia..as am gonna buy next month can u please suggest me best1 coz cars are never my subject uptil now.i commute hardly 6-10 kms a day and travel to pune & ahmedabad once a month.am presently using ikon1.6 nxt.all this reviews & oral notes from people have confused me so much that have stopped loan procedures as well with banks...i wana use car for next 3-4year

  43. on 07 Mar, 2008 at 04:12 PM Vivekpahwa2

    good car

  44. on 09 Mar, 2008 at 01:41 AM Gvsexports

i love my civic it has the most awesome power a car can give ,although average in city will not be more than 7 to 8 , besides average there are no problems in the car .

  45. on 11 Mar, 2008 at 01:47 PM Sgulhane

What is mileage of Honda civic in city and outside city ?

  46. on 14 Mar, 2008 at 02:22 PM Rahul

CIVIC is very beautiful car I like it my dream is to buy one.

  47. on 14 Mar, 2008 at 03:24 PM PSV (Cochin)

the mileage my car civic MT is giving me is around 10 in city and 13.5 on highway with ac on always.have done around 4700 kms so far, cheers man just buy it,its a dream car

  48. on 19 Mar, 2008 at 02:53 PM Vaithiyanathan

I bought a CIVIC 1.8 VMT and I love the car. I am a tall person 6.1 ft and I have a unique problem of hamstring pain. Has anyone experienced any discomfort, if yes, what are the options. I checked with the dealer and they are surprised. Any help? Thanks

Can you please advise me whether the Auto Transmission is a good buy or should i go in for a manual one?
Coz i have alreay booked the car and paid for the manual version and i have 3 days left o decide between the Auto n Manual
    Kindly reply to my query?

  50. on 29 Mar, 2008 at 10:51 PM Nittin Mittal (New Delhi)

    Dear Mr.Pachauri,
I feel manual transmission is better than AT & whatever knowledge I have about cars- MT gives better mileage than AT. So if you are concerned about mileage than go for MT else both are same..
I am also going for Civic in next 7-10 days & it will be MT !!

  51. on 08 Apr, 2008 at 01:23 AM A K Pachauri (Noida)

    Dear Mr. Mittal,
Thank u for ur response. But now i m a proud owner of Civic AT. I was not bothered about Mileage. i bought this car because of the LATEST DELHI TRAFFIC which lets ur left leg busy on the clutch at all the jams when the cars move a meter. Thanks to the Auto Version atleast the Driving becomes a pleasure.

  52. on 19 Apr, 2008 at 06:59 AM Mani.Sgm

I get 15.5 kmpl in my civic-auto when I drive softly and don't go over 80 kmph. I was initially getting only 8.5 kmpl, but now learnt to drive the auto.
In fact I can challenge that I can get better mileage than a manual.

  53. on 02 May, 2008 at 11:15 AM Sanjivii Ram (Chennai)

well iam looking forward to buy this vehicle.but there is also another car in my list. that is optra magnum. u tel me which is the best. pleeeeeeees tel me faster.

  54. on 27 Jul, 2008 at 12:31 PM Indraneel Roy (Mumbai)

After having read all the problems about GC in the Civic, I am a little apprehensive about buying one now. Infact I was about to buy the Civic on the dau after tomorrow, but taking into consideration Mumbai's bad roads, I think I will have to change my decision, though I must say that no other car at this point of time definitely looks as gorgeous as a Civic.

  55. on 27 Jul, 2008 at 09:47 PM PSV (Cochin)

    hey indraneel,
i had the car for almost a 10 months now,and believe you me had initially the fear of GC and as i got used to it in first few months ,its never been a problem, but yes one has to be a little careful on bad roads. i am enjoying my car and as u rightly said no other car has matched civic so far, cheers ,do lemme know if u want more details

  56. on 06 Sep, 2008 at 12:38 PM Dheeraj Chawla (New Delhi)

I AM CONFUSED BETWEEN CIVIC ,TOYOTA ALTIS AND JETTA MANUAL KINDLY SUGGEST AS PER THE MAINTANCE OF THESE CARS PLUS THE BEST ONE OUT OF THESE
