i feel so sad to let you guys know that Wagon R duo proved to be a failure for me.I am a hassled guy having bought your wagon R Duo with my hard earned money 4 months back.It just refuses to work on LPG now after running for 7500 kms.Went to 2 different maruti dealers on 7 occasions but now they too have given up.Their last words were - even we cant figure out whats wrong. And what more i confirmed the same problem with three more wagon R users.I bought this car to save money and ended up loosing peace of mind as well as money, both.I have sweared to sell it off at the first possible chance and buy some other brand.

I'd certainly not recommend this car if u r thinking of a hassle free alternative fuel car.

i own the Duo too.... and ur car review is shocking !!!....

  2. on 21 Aug, 2007 at 10:36 PM Chandrakar (Mumbai)

Karan, yes i m sad that the performance and configuration of the LPG kit is not upto the mark.
THe engine used to knock severely and stop on LPG..i took it to the maruti guys..someone changed the igniter coils..someone cleaned the filter..other one tuned the engine..one guy increased the rpm...so they kept on playing but the problem continued..i have spent all the past weekends in the garage...thats how i put it.

did u face anything of that sort ??

  3. on 21 Aug, 2007 at 11:56 PM Karan Gambhir (Bangalore)

    hi Chandrakar....
well i kno i mite sound silly because ofcourse the Maruti Guys know ALOT more than me,
but i still thought of asking u .... did dey clean ur Gas-Air filter too ???.....
and also ,just open ur bonnet n check if ur vacumm pipe is in order.....

these were the problems what i faced n got them rectified....since then its all pretty kool.
its covered abt 6300 kms now..(4 months old)
    which state r u in ?...

  4. on 22 Aug, 2007 at 01:10 PM Chandrakar (Mumbai)

    karan,

they did clean the gas air filter...vacuum pipe am not so sure about but i think yes they hv done it..as of now since last 3 -4 days its going smooth...lets see...i have clocked more than 8250 kms. in 4 months..am in mumbai

  5. on 23 Aug, 2007 at 10:42 PM Karan Gambhir (Bangalore)

well... i hope it goes smooth......

also ...manually keep checking the vacuum pipe of ur car..... it mite be loose....
my cars vacumm pipe was loose....so every now n then it used to cum out of its joint.... i pointed this out to MAruti,n they solved my prob.

i m not sayin this mite be the case wid ur car too,but this is a common problem with alot of WagonR's..... so ders no harm in opening ur bonnet n checking these small things...

    take care.....

  6. on 24 Aug, 2007 at 12:24 AM Chandrakar (Mumbai)

o thnx mate..wheres the vacuum pipe located exactly ??

  7. on 24 Aug, 2007 at 01:15 PM Karan Gambhir (Bangalore)

uhh...well..its tough to explain that.... ask any mechanic at the workshop wenever u go next...(though i hope u NEVER need to go der, except for servicings)..

  9. on 26 Aug, 2007 at 12:17 AM Karan Gambhir (Bangalore)

    oh crap !!!!....

ders certainly sumthing wrong wid it....

Well, I had this problem as well, just about a month after my second service
They fixed this problem for me by replacing the ignition coil or something....they told me that it happens if water for some reason enters this contraption and also I believe they adjusted the timing of something....

  18. on 14 Jan, 2008 at 04:58 PM Jaleel

Wagon R or Wagon R duo when water serviced the water enters in the spark plug chamber and spark plug does not function properly and looks like rusted aroung the plug. Clean well and use WD40 and leave it tille dry and then plug the igniter on the spark plug and it will not knock any more. Igniter is not properly fixed by Maruti and water enters during servicing and causes problem always. When I service my car I stand there and tell them not to force water on Engine. Thats all.

    Hey
In short i can tell u, u have ur car to wrong hands.
I own a Wag DUO, one of the first customers in bangalore, and i am happy, its 1.5 years old. I too faced this issue. Its not due to water. Its due air block inside ur LPG tank or LPG outlet. It could have happened when u filled from some junk pump. Dude image what will happen if some one adds

Please do call the people who debugged this issue and call them "incompetent" to debug.

manish go in for the wag duo...dont hold back bcoz of the problm we all hv been discussing up above...my problem got solved later on....its largely due to water entering certain parts of the LPG kit, igniter etc...however also consider the new dicor diesel indica cozLPG is 33 bux right now whereas diesel is 36 and the mileage diff between the two cars in both these fuels is about 5 - 6 kms...plus the availability of diesel like water...also the car speeds up like a goli...try test riding it...

    hello all,

dudes i own a wagon r with a different gas kit and had some serious problems with it.
Sometimes the engine would stop and the car would stop as if complete brakes have been applied.
The mileage on the LPG too had been good on first refill after the service but comes down on the second refill. It went as high as 16 KMPL and to the lower side about 8 KMPL. on an average it gives 9 KMPL or 10 KMPL.
The air filter bursts as if a bomb is there and have tied it hard using clamps but

then the air filter lid has broken. The Maruti guys have cleaned the water but still there is knocking. They cleaned the throttle body ttuned the engine, changed the spark plugs, set the tap it and now they are saying to change the ignitor coils. I have already incurred huge expenses on the other items changed and now the set of ignitors is for other Rs. 4000. Can anyone suggest any idea for me. Thanks.

Hi all, I own a Maruti Wagon R Duo and its 1.6 years old already finished 17000 KMS. Till now i have not faced any of the issues which you guys are talking. I used to give for periodic service and they used to clean the Air/Lpg filter during the service and i used to feel more power after that. Defenitly the LPG driven vehicles will be having less power when compare to petrol driven vehicles. I suggest to buy this car.

    Hello,
I own a Duo Wagon R for one and half year now. it has run 15000 kms. till now there wasnt major problem. But I feel discomfort while driving in heavy rain, and also there are some hickups soon after it is serviced at showroom. Solution I have is to run it on petrol for about 50 to 100kms in between 1000 to 1500 kms.
i.e to be clear, run on LPG for 1000 kms, then run on petrol for 50 kms. Again switch to LPG. repeat this cycle. And while driving up ghats or steep roads, use petrol

  33. on 17 Dec, 2008 at 07:38 PM Ashish

I also got the problem in Air filter. The clamps have deoupled many times. Earlier I didn't felt much difference driving in LPG/Petrol but after 2nd service, I feel very much difference in LPG. The power is reduced like a CNG vehicle. I'm getting an average of max 10 in city condition (AC on max 25%). Overall I feel that we save about 25-40 paise per km. So there is no sense of buying an LPG vehicle.

    Dear All,

I am also planning to buy Wagor R - Duo within 2 weeks, I would request all of your to please give me the genuine reviews on Wagor R Duo.

What average normally it is giving on LPG & Petrol in cities like Delhi

  41. on 03 Jul, 2009 at 11:29 AM Anil (Lucknow)

1-Company fitted LPG Kints are very fine and success
only when LPG is filled from a filling satation.
2- If you will use to fill dimestic LPG having lot of Kachara Kit will not aork propery.
3- If want to fill LPG from Cylender better to get fitted approvrd Kit from Market.

in 18 months i have driven 42000 km with my wagonR duo & i was very much satisfied with performance. at the rate of Rs 25 per lpg & Rs 47 for petrol, i saved Rs 1&15paise per km with lpg.

but the pick up was very poor in city limits, still for highway driving it was excellent.
