Hi everybody, I am 63 and love driving-cautious but not a meeker one and this is a bold companion. I had booked ZXI BLACK/LEATHER on 16th of May and got the delivery on 30th of July- a pretty long wait. I had ordered this one after having test driven Hyundai Verna, Honda City, Ford Fiesta, and Chevy Aveo 1.6. I had found Zxi to be better than all these in many respect. The road grip in high speed, throttle response, suspensions and road clearance far better than these all. Even on full load you are not compelled to shift gears and can cruise along on your third or even forth- certainly depends on your driving capability too. Honda city beats ZXI and has a softer steering-ladies should note this. Otherwise it beats others in all respects. Price is cheaper by 50,000 to 100,000/ if you consider the things it is already offering in this price. Fuel economy? If you love driving drive this one and don’t bother – a km or two more should not be compromised for passion. ,

PS

I strongly feel that my ‘boldly’ deserves a few lines more about her and I also owe to some very learned / enthusiasts visiting this site.

I always wished to have a sedan which would not kick the back of my head while getting in. Yet it should not get misbalanced during sudden and forced deviation at high speed. A just ratio between its height and wheel base. Sx4 answers this.

Fuel eco- Got 13.6 ( speed 90 km/110 even touching 120-130 at times. With AC on) average in a drive of 250 km streach.

City drive gives around 7.5 with AC on

You have nearly missed a pot whole or a speed breaker and have reduced the speed but not well enough yet no ouches- needs a very good suspension- this one answers.

Taking a pass through a convoy of trucks etc. (in a single or two lane highway ) in which gear you would prefer? This allows you this comfortably even in your forth gear.

A gentle touch on the brake or accel gives full response better than any other in this segment.

I have tried my best to hear if there is any engine noise while driving at speeds but failed to register any  undue noise- I may be excused by the readers who have noticed it , for my years and my ears.

I am not sure but this one may be quickest in getting from 0 to 100 not withstanding its solid body.

Why factory fitted leather seats? I do not know about the metros but I was sure it was impossible to get a  luxuriant and snugly fitted genuine leather in my city.

Cons:

Feels cheated when you’re not able to make comfortable a fifth person in the rear seat.

Your sight is dangerously obstructed for the traffic merging from the right side especially at an acute angle. But I got used to in 8-10 outings.

A pair of brighter head light is a must for a car which is capable of this pick up.

You don’t feel quite at ease while reversing- sight problem.

Over all :you can not expect every thing in  one single vehicle  that too at a compititive price . So my second thought still remains much the same  –    SX4 is a bold and beautiful companion (and to me the best) in the segment.

I drove SX4 and found it great, buying it soon. Dont worry abt engine and technology. I own 800 (5-speed) and I did 140 km/h oftenly on hways and 115 km/h (3rd gear),done 98,000 kms without any prob.SX4 engine is quite advanced and power/weight is 0.86 which is much better than 800(5-speed). In 1200 kgs mass ,you feel much secure with ABS, AIRBAGS and all other cars looks mean when u see them driving this vehicle. It would give u 1-2 kms/ltr lesser than City ZX but rest assured.

You drive yourself to choose your's one. Buy it if you like a Robust, Safe and an Off-roader as well as city car. Verna Petrol/diesel, Honda City you can try to compare. Check price against features, safety, maintenance and ultimately the driving pleasure. Good luck.

EEWould someone give me an unbiased view of the fuel efficiency of SX4 especially Mr Mahesh at 09923457463 or ashari1ali at the rate yahoo.com

Now my car has done 2300 kms. In my last trip of 288 kms it gave me 16.88km/ltr. AC was on but outside temp was 25 degree approx. I am really enjoying it with some mileage cautious driving.
I hope I can achive more in winters and better traffic conditions. In my next trip I would try to achieve more. Green Driving.

See the November issue of Overdrive which carries detailed test for Honda City 2008 and SX4.Both cars are at par for performance and fuel efficiency.SX4 is better in braking due to its wider tyres and ABS and rear discs

Well said Nipun,SX4 is still the king
