I was desperately waiting for this Diesel version of Fusion. as i was already owning a Fiesta with good interiors and great engine. The Fusion from the outside there is no much change, as i ventured in, i felt like i am entering fiesta but in a stripped.way. Simply not worth Rs.7.71k. As i drove around, there is a feeling of driving a SUV, as there is good risen sitting position, good strong built feel but whats worth the wide tyres, good clearence when the outmost thing required is the "heart" i.e the ENGINE. The power to weight ratio is bad, there is absolute no pull in the vehicle. In city its ok ok, but on the highway while overtaking, i was shifting gears like crazy to get the right power down and with so many changes, average goes down. I just wished they had a engine with a higher tweak, seeing the power to weight ratio. The biggest example is the Ford Endeavor, after such a long time, they realized that you need a engine that could pull, even though its a SUV, its needed. I am sure they will realize this sooner than they did in case for Enduver.

I will surely miss the Fusion Diesel in my guarge.

Regards,,,,

when fusion and fiesta diesels both have same engine, power, torque, kerb weight, 0 to 100 acceleration (As per Carwale compare car section), how can you say fusion is underpowered whereas fiesta is not...? either both are underpowered or both are equally good powerwise...

You should go and drive the each of the vehicle, fusion is 30kg heavier and it makes a difference. On pull and average.

30 kg is hardly anything for a C segment car... Just a tenth std boy or two bags of dogfood... Do you think it changes weight to power ratio drastically...? For a vehicle supposed to carry 5 adults..? And 0-100 acceleration given by carwale is same for both fusion and fiesta. Or is it that fiesta driven with a teenage boy besides driver is also sluggish...? Or technical test data proveded by carwale.com is incorrect

I would agree with Jimmy on this one as I have test driven the car, it does lack the oomp, one finds in a petrol vehicle, Also a bit noisy. All else considered its a smooth ride. Just the car for a young middle aged person who needs a second car for those sedate out of town trips be it petrol or Diesel

I too do agree the pickup is a bit slow.
One more minor irritant is the Indicator lever on the left. After getting used to having it on the right which lets you operate the indicators without taking your hand off the gear stick.

I differ from those who says slow pickup, took 2 test drives in last one week, and every time I felt its pickup really good, and after 1200rpm it shoots up, pushing you back to the seat.

people...i test drove the 1600cc , 101 bhp 1.6 petrol and 1400cc, 68 bhp 1.4 TDCi diesel of the FORD FUSION. i must say , petrol version rocks because of the very engine and the smooth combustion which affects the car performance i.e low ride on second and third gears. The diesel as many of you rightly pointed was a tad bit sluggish on slopes and in city conditions i would feel we need the power and smoothness as that of the petrol... i love the petrol version although sacrificing the mileage.
