Comparison of SX4 vs Verna vs City

The best selling points of SX4 is: Road presence, Climate control, ABS, Airbags, Audio controller in steering wheel, 16 Inch Alloy and slightly better performance. All these goodies sounds very good and exciting. However, when you go inside the cabin, the interior still does not feel very rich.


I have compared this with Hyundai Verna. It neither better. Interiors are not black but it's still cheap plastic. Does not have so many goodies as SX4. Absolutely not comparable with SX4.


Then i compared with Honda city VTEC. Great/Best interior in this range and very dissapointing power. One need to struggle or wait to reach 100 kmph.


However, i felt SX4 would be a better buy and value for money than Verna/City VTEC because of it's unlimited goodies + Great and fresh looks + it's service network.


What i did not about SX4 is it's dissapointing interiors. You will see and feel cheap plastics everywhere. One need to digest these cheap plastics. This is absolutely my personnal preference.


When i heard about Optra Magnum from my colleagues, immediately i took two test drive on the otherday. One in Mission road(You know, How pathetic is the traffic in this road) and then in outer ring road(Marathalli to Sarjapur road). The power is just awesome. In no time it touched 120 Kmph. It's a rocket. I was totally thrilled. Folks, if you want to feel a powerful engine -> It's worth spending time for a test drive. :-)


City drive is very impressive too. I drove in Mission road for half an hour and it's not sluggish at all. Very Impressive.


I have compared this with Elantra, Verna CRDI. On paper, Verna CRDI sounds good, but it's too sluggist on city(bumper to bumper) drive conditions.


LT Magnum Interior looks and feels very rich with it's leather upholstry and some other nice to have goodies.


From power, city drive, highway drive, interior, milage perspective, it's a complete package. You will not feel, you have missed anything.


Of course Magnum is compared with Skoda, however i did not want to stretch my budget to even think for a test drive of Skoda as it's too expensive and the July Autocar verdict quoted "Magnum is a better vehicle than Skoda on most aspects".

    The comments on Honda City VTEC are not correct and can't be farther from reality. A VTEC is powerful and races to 100 KPH in about 10.25 seconds and I feel thats a great pickup and with this it can take on cars, even superior in BHP, and can race ahead. A VTEC is a class car with great interiors and thrilling pickup.

    Probably the car which i got for the test ride did not give me such a powerful feeling. I found Verna CRDI has better pickup than VTEC but gives a very dissapointing ride at a low RPM.

    Cheaper interiors in its category!! slightly lower mileage, comparativly lower visibility when it come to reversing looking at the main rear view mirror. All things we can live with. BUT when it comes to safety there is NO compromise i can afford to get the Mrecs or the audis of the world for the price SX4 is packed with safety feature like no other ABS, Air Bags the works. With concrete roads and high flying cars (speed) ABS is a must. No exp interiors only saftey is imp way to go SX4... :)

    yes, i am agree with all this. No doubt SX4 is great in looks & ground clearance, but the rear seat is relly horrible. Even a child can't seat comfortably in the middle of rear seat.

    my choice is OPTRA MAGNUM as VERNA looks are not good. City is aged now.

    I agree with SNS i also did not like
    1. Pick up of Honda City
    2. Drivers comfort (Wind Screen comes very close to eyes, also head touches the roof)
    3. Price range to get goodies is huge ( In Bangalore SX4 fully loaded on road is 869,070 and City ZX VTEC New Rs.876,000 Ex showroom add around 1.5lacs for on road)

    I will try Magnum now;)

    forgot to tell you can spend 5000 to 8000 to get a system which can assist to see behind. It is available in many form one is with camera and lcd display in rear view mirror ( Safari fame) one is like as it come in BMW series cars with seperate discply with three sensors each side.
    Enjoy SX4 with this new goody added.

    SX4 :: looks are good...
    good specs on papers...but its so called ABS and 16" are not at all good in terms of performance....honda city or verna have much much better control....
    no cup holders...
    no electic control mirrors...
    its a stupid choice to make...
    a maruti wil always b a maruti....it can never meet international quality....

    HONDA CITY and VERNA are far better cars than
    loser SX4.... its a Man but a weak 1....

    the clutch n the brakes vibrate wen u accelerate...
    and 100 bhp only feels like 90bhp...
    its not too bumpy....suspension is good
    steering is heavy...
    takes time to reach 140
    n wen u r drivin a verna at 140....u feel only 90..

    I have been driving SX4 from past 6 months and had driven City Gxi for an year before..my opinion is SX4 is better for its driver comfort, visibility & ground clearence & ideal for city driving too, the space behind is not much a issue for ideal sitting, its comfortable.The petrol efficiancy is very good - approx 13.5 kms per litre in city+outskirts drive...if one have to choose between city & SX4 - my strong suggestion is go for SX4

    I have heard about SX4, nice car with Robust body and good power, but really I have agree with rear sit. It’s only suit for Nuclear Family. The most important for Indian road is Ground clearance but thanks to God, it has good ground clearance, apart from this very good car for Indain Road.

    its actually value for money.u dont even get abs in hondacity for the money of top end model of sx4.its features like seat belt height adjust is not there even in bmw.its loaded. its handling is almost as good as honda city.
    it has
    electric mirrors cup holders and can accelerate from 0 to 100 in 11.7 seconds
    this is my own experience and can easily go past 170s

    Hi I have gone through ypour comments, I have a SX4 and i have test driven all the above said cars, looks, driving experience, control is good, but i chose SX4 coz of
    1. grip, i have driven at 150km, and grip is excellent (ZXi), at this speed the electonic steering censor stablizes the steering.
    2. the 16" alloys gives you a stability as well as good driving in bumpy roads,
    3. Am getting milage of 12 in city with Ac on.
    But i agree the interior in no good, as compared to japnese model sx4

    The Honda city Zx vtec is the best car in C-segment, great comfort and power= 190km/h top speed (autocar) and have a good reseal value. Verna are also good but gives a very disappointing ride at a low RPM.
    I have test-driven sx4; the comfort is bad, the wheels (alloy) are too big for sx4 205/55/16inch!!!

    I suggest the Honda city ZX vtec

    I am a proud owner of SX4 and it delivers 13.7 kmpl with AC .It has the highest ground clearance in its category and is value for money .It has absolutely no maintenance and the bonnet can be opened during its servicing.

    Hi,

    I am proud owner of SX4-ZXI, since 03 months and liked this car as compared to City, Fiesta etc. because of excellent ground clearance and wide service network. Really other brands can not provide such a wide network. Also the features are beyond comparaision with other brands in this segement. Really value for money.

    Iam just researching through automobiles site and totally confused between honda city zx Gxi and suzuki SX4.I m unable to short out the car due to same range price, and different mileage, but finally I have decided for SX4.
