A rainy Friday afternoon in Bangalore, everyone preparing to go home from work and chill out, but i am franctically pacing around trying to get my DD's ready. I wanted the Fiat Palio 1.6 Sport, and i wanted it at my doorstep today!!!

After all arrangements were done, the showroom guys were quick with the works and by 7.00 pm that Friday, the car was standing in front of my house!!!

Exterior

Fiat has given a considerable facelift to the new Palio, with the cool looking headlamps. The 1.6 is available in just 2 colors Red and Black, so i opted for the fiery looking, attention grabbing Ferrari Red.

Interiors

The interiors too are pretty well done with dual color dashboards and plush beige interiors, with sufficient Cubby holes wherever required. The only crib i have is that the Cup holders are integrated into the Glove box lid. Otherwise the dashboard is pretty decent with good readability. This car has oodles of elbow room and the rear is spacous too comfortably seating 3 adults with decent leg room.

Engine and Performance

The 1.6 L 100 Bhp monster is the main reason i bought this beauty. It has a amazing response in all the gears and the AC does not load the engine too much and response is pretty much the same. The top speed they say is in the 170's but i just did a 120 since it is the frst week.

Handling

The car feels very stable at speeds of over 100 and with better tyres will do really good at cornering at these speeds, being a pretty heavy car at almost a ton, the Palio is defenitely known for excellent stability and does not disappoint

Mileage

Well for a combined drive of the city and highway (50:50) i got around 13-14 Kmpl with AC, which is not bad at all for this kind of performance.

Value for Money

The 1.6 version comes loaded with Alloys, Tubeless tyres, central locking, rear wipers fog lamps, rear defogger etc, which makes it a value for money car at an impressive price tag of approx 5 Lakhs on road.

Overall i am proud to own a car which has the power and space of any top mid sized sedan, with a price tag that is not a pinch to my wallet.

However, I feel lot of compromise on Interiors, the door handles, power buttons for window are poor compared to UVA and Getz. Yes power is great. Mileage as informed by you seems to be good enough, the dealer is conforming only 8-9 in city, can you pls comment on this, the details provided by you are with AC on?

First congrats for your new car. I am planning to buy 1.6 sports could you tell me the following information please:

    1. What is the Fuel efficiency in city and highway with 100% AC on ?
    2. How is the service by the TATA? Is it moving smooth?
    3. What was the discount and fittings that the dealer gave you?

    Hi Buddy

Hi Girish,Kudos to you on your choice!! I agree that the Fiat Palio Stile 1.6 Sport is by far, one of the best cars on Indian Roads today. Not many know about this, but those who have done their research know what we are talking about. It would put any decent sedan to shame. I only wish the Tata-Fiat guys would project this beauty more aggressively, but I guess Tatas would obviously not want to lose their share of Indica buyers. That makes us supporters of this car an exclusive club!! Cheers!

Hi I am planning to buy this 1.6 beauty but was told that milage is 8-9 kmpl with AC. Are you sure that you got 13. You must have driven more till now. Pl inform more on milage as it will help me take a quicker decision. I think Nithin and Krishnaswamy also have same concern. A quick reply would really help.

    Guys,

Was really busy so could not take out the time to reply to queries.

The mileage i got on the highway with AC on was around 12-13 if i kept the speed at 100-120 (but many know that this is quite difficult in this car!!!)

I also get city mileage of around 10-12 with the AC on most of the times.

But what will thrill you is the way you can manouver this beauty on the highways and the speeds you can reach. My latest record was 180 on the speedo with 3 people in the car!!!

Hi People, The car is awesome after what I have seen of it and from what I've read in this forum. I'm buying one next week and am getting quite a number of freebies with it. Girish - which dealer in B'lore did u buy the 1.6 from?

Boss are you really getting 10KMPL. friend of mine have 1.6 GTX and that gives me 8.1 to 8.5 in city.
He is selling his old car and will be going in for 1.6 Sport.
By going through the reviews i have suggested him to buy 1.6 sports. Is there any engine difference?

Hello Everyone. My concern about the car is very similar to the ones voiced by most - SERVICE! Has any user got to say anything positive or negative about the service offered by TATA anywhere? I would like to hear on this quickly as this issue is making me wait to buy a Palio Stile Diesel / 1.6 Sport. Thanks. Aliasgar

Hi Guys, My sincere advise to most of the questions here is pls dont buy this car if your first priority is Mileage this would give abt 10 max in City and abt 12 on a highway. We had a palio for 5yrs and sold it recently a 1.6 it had done abt 1 Lac and 30 K kms on that, the last day when my cousin sold it, we went for a drive it was still like driving a new one out of the showroom exp...

I have been using a Palio 1.6 since 3 years it gives me around 10 kpl in the city bumper to bumper traffic and 15- 16 on the high way with the A/c on. The car’ engine is a drivers delight it is very responsive and goes from 25- 80 kmh in the third gear.

The ride and suspension is simply superb and better than any of the cars in this class no vibrations no rattling of the dash board nothing till date. Feels like a big car or a tank and extremely safe while driving on high speeds. It is a sim

Average on the Fiat Palio 1.6: You have to be careful while driving this beast keep the foll. things in mind 1) keep your foot off the cluth and prefer nutral gear while standing on the signal 2) Avoid frequent gear changes and braking 3) try and see the signal from a distance in order to free your foot form the accelerator before approching the signal.
