I have been driving this car for the last 5 months. Believe me, it is a head turner. It is only slightly inferior to the Honda Civic but way, way, cheaper (3 lacs or so). It is thus one of the best value for money cars in its class (compared to Civic, Corrolla, Elantra, Octavia, etc). It however could do with some more zip considering the 2 ltr engine. Spoilers for both elegance and select would have gladdened the hearts of the closet sporty types. All models come fitted with specs normally reserved for top-end cars (ABS, EBD, saftey bags, reasonably low-profile but not too low-profile tyres, wood and titanium dash, etc). The 195/60 R15 tyres gives it a nice sporty look without increasing the tyre diameter too much. Sporty mag wheel rims would have heightened the looks even more which unfortunately is just not available, even as an add-on accessory. A terrific buy overall. It also has great novelty value (still) - HM has however suddenly woken up and starterd advertising this car.

Very good review. How is the milage of this car ??.Any idea of how much the spares cost.Yes HM is doing somthing for selling.Price on road for the Sport version is now 10.00 lachs in Bangalore and Civic is 13.15.
Things I find diffenent between the two 1. Higher BHP 2. Power retract mirrors 3.Auto A/C.
I await your fed back on the above 2 points

Mileage not very high but still among best in this segment - coz the engine has been 'detuned' for India. It now has 115 HP power but very good torque of 175 against the 140 HP or so which the original rally version had. 115 HP is however still quite good compared to 90-100 which most midsize cars have.It has 'power adjusting' mirrors and not 'power retract' as rightly pointed out which to my mind is not a very large difference. I have taken 3-yr extended warranty to cover spares cost in advanc

I accept that power retract mirror is not important.I was only stating the two differences I had seen.Power retract mirror was on 2001/2002 model lancer and the price was Rs.12500/= and I had a broken the stay of the mirror which had happened due to a cycleist hitting it.
Are you from Calcutta if so the milage should be the same as I would get in Bangalore.
WHAT MILAGE DO YOU GET IN THE CITY AND ON THE HIGHWAY WITH AND WITHOUT A/C ???.

Mileage is very poor - I get max 7 km per litre (I use AC all the time). My commuting is however for only short distances (3 + 3) km daily with occasional longer distances (10 - 20 km) maybe once or twice a month. I have not done any highway driving on this car yeat

    Hi Arnob

Car is superb, a true value for money. I have always seen people giving 2 glances whenever it passes by. But you dont have too many color for selection.
I am planning for Cedia Spirit but unfortunately I like the Aussie Yellow color which is available in the Sport version.
By the way what kind of discount was offered to you by the Dealer?

The worse car for Indian Roads... it has a HYDRAULIC Clutch system which fails periodically, specially during Winters when the oil is cold... The gears don't work then and you're stranded. Mitsubishi doesn't even have roadside assistance. Its pathetic. The ONLY thing that may be on the positive side is the responsive engine... the rest is all nuts and bolts.
